@@LawnTips Hi Ben, is it possible for a friend to grow green couch in Cooma NSW all year round, if he seeds this spring ? & i live in QLD, we have an invasive couch species that gets in ours, has dark red maroon coloured runners, any idea what it's called or how to stop it in green & blue couch please ?
I have to juggle your mix a bit. First I rake up loads of leaves then I really want to focus on the soil more with your mix. I do chuck a bit of iron in but right after I mow.
Hi Ben, I have a question for you. Im based in the UK and I completed my spring renovation about 5 weeks ago. Everything has gone so well however I have clearly used too much grass seed when over seeding. The lawn is so thick in places that I am starting to get fungus! Will this naturally thin itself out and correct or should I intervene? Thanks!
Hey mate love the channel, you mentioned oversowing the tiff tuff, what seed do you recommend to over sow the tiff with for the winter etc, I’m in Melbourne, thanks looking forward to the next chapter and your new place. J
Hey Ben what about giving the lawn a sniff of urea in the special mix during late autumn/winter? That's what I'm thinking of doing in Melbourne with my Kikuyu which is oversown with perennial ryegrass.
Needs some nitrogen to help grow it out. Hard time of year to get rid of it though. You could try giving it one more granular fert with some higher N. Something like this: www.lawntips.net/fertilisers/2spec-accelerate-fertiliser
They are fine in the shed since they are on the shelves. Wouldn't be good if I left them on the concrete. Not the best idea to keep them outside in winter or summer.
Since the temps have dropped I have massive issues with worm casting, I have super rich moist soil but it’s that bad it is ruining the look of the lawn and introducing wintergrass into the squashed castings, nearly impossible to rake, way too many and they are like mud. Anything pesticide I can use to at least cull some of them?
If you live in the uk ~ your in for a lot work as many chemicals for worm casting have been banned. So the tricks are soil ph higher can help ~ clear them off when dry ~ try and keep top 12mm soil as dry as possible to keep the surface harder for worm activity during winter. Good luck
@@bengreen1262 nah mate as Aussie as can be live in Sydney, so open to any chemicals you would recommend? At this time of year living near the coast it’s just impossible to keep the soil dry, and the worms are going mental, craters everywhere and some of these casting can be tennis ball size, never seen anything like it currently.
Hi Ben, I have two questions for you regarding winter lawn care in Sydney. Is ICL Dew smart worth using? And what is your thoughts on Floratine Protesyn? BTW I have been watching your videos for the last 2-3 years and using your special mix 👍🏽
I just oversowed my tiftuff with rye cooch blend(little kentucky blue in mix to) and used their starter fert. Hoping it works well for winter. I lighlty dusted with sandy loam to keep the birds off to bc last time i seeded the birds decided to have a feed 😂
@@trevormuggeridge4560 Good Saturday morning mate. We are actually having the same weather now. Birds are chirping away here too but with a slight NY accent lol. :)
Oh dear. Did someone forget to cut the audio on the video? 1.13mins of audio at the end. I was hanging around for something else. But it didn’t come 😭😭😭
Thanks Christ! Good to hear Ben. Your body language in the last couple of vids hinted toward you throwing in the towel. Stoked that you’ll keep Lawn Tips going. As sad as it sounds, your and Brenton’s vids are the highlight of my week.
Daily dose of therapy. Something about grass is so calming.
Thanks for the tips Ben, nice editing too
Managing a turf farm in Wilberforce, NSW. Got lots of good advice from your channel, thanks 🙏

Really informative. I hope the new house has a massive lawn(s).

You’ll find out soon! But it does have some good lawn area 😉
Time to move to QLD?
I always hate to see your lawn go to sleep but that means mine is starting to wake up. Love the vids cheers my man.
Thanks Ben - exactly what I needed 👍
Just in time for the winter. Is there any pre emergent you would recommend for Tif Tuf?
@@Lawnnerd91 Cool. Thanks. I haven't heard of the brand before. Will check that out!
You have the best lawn no matter what

Hey Ben literally put down your special mix about an hour ago, I have rye/bluegrass out the front and buffalo out the back, loving your work bruh
Just started following, very informative and enjoyable. Really look forward to seeing a new video.
Any tips on brown spots from dog pee?
Just purchased some liquid iron from plant doctor, live in northwest Victoria and have Buffalo. Okay to put down when it arrives?

Cheers mate, great video. Clear and concise
What weather station do you have on your shed?
Hey mate love the channel, you mentioned oversowing the tiff tuff, what seed do you recommend to over sow the tiff with for the winter etc, I’m in Melbourne, thanks looking forward to the next chapter and your new place. J
Hey mate! Something like Ryegrass would be perfect! www.lawntips.net/grass-seed/perennial-ryegrass-sr4650-25kg
Hey Ben, what's a good pre-emergent that can be used on a rye/fescue lawn? And is something like wintergrass killer safe for this sort of lawn?
what would you think of oversowing kentucky bluegrass into buffalo? i live in nsw
You could do it for sure. I’d say it may look a little out of place
Hey Ben what about giving the lawn a sniff of urea in the special mix during late autumn/winter? That's what I'm thinking of doing in Melbourne with my Kikuyu which is oversown with perennial ryegrass.
You can if you like mate. Just be careful with disease when pushing too much N in winter
Have you considered oversowing your Tiff Tuff with KBG for a Bluemuda turf? Perhaps something for the apron, tee, but not the green.
Nah, not on the Couch. I actually don't mind it going brown in winter. Something different!
Hey mate love the vids would u recommend putting kikuyu turf down over winter in Orange as I don’t want dirt until spring
You can do it for sure. Just will take a long time to root and establish
Yo mate, I have a bit of lawn rust on my tall fescue, despite me putting down fert. Live down in Victoria
Needs some nitrogen to help grow it out. Hard time of year to get rid of it though. You could try giving it one more granular fert with some higher N. Something like this: www.lawntips.net/fertilisers/2spec-accelerate-fertiliser
Do you protect your lawn chems from frost in your shed or are they OK to be kept outside also extreme heat in the summer
They are fine in the shed since they are on the shelves. Wouldn't be good if I left them on the concrete. Not the best idea to keep them outside in winter or summer.
My kikuyu holding strong in Victoria right now. Hope it doesn’t go yellow in the coming months.
Hey bro random question but how far do you have to drive if you wanted to go fishing or go to the beach ??
About 4 hours to the nearest beach 👍🏽
@@LawnTips wow bro I live in western Sydney and complain bout the 30 min drive to the closest beach
What do you think about scarifying 1-2times a year on fescue bluegrass mix? Or is it better to aerate? Core aerate?
Both would be even better mate!! Core Aerate 1-2 times a year and scarify as well.
How do u get rid of crowsfoot grass in couch(post-emergent)?
something like tribute would be a great option mate: www.lawntips.net/herbicides/tribute-1l
So I’m in South Australia, I’ve got kikuyu grass, what can I grab from bunnings to put on it?
seasol and power feed should be great
Hey man, great vid, quick one, what would be the seed of your choice if you were in the UK?
I’d be going some rye or fescue for sure!
Some Lawn Tips face masks and mugs would be awesome
edging looking crisp. noice
Will grass seed still germinate this time of year I'm in similar climate to what you have
Cool season might, but good chance it wouldn’t mature properly

What variety off grass do you have
I have perennial ryegrass 👍🏽
Thanks Ben lawn is looking great for this time year 😉 do you recommend using pgr in the cooler months if your growth rate is still high
Thanks legend! If the growth rate is high you can for sure mate!
where did you get that boom sprayer from mate?
I got it from the warehouse where I sell my products from actually. They are available on my website 👍🏽
