    The Jigsaw looks like a scam company, I cannot find this "start up" in PA you speak of. These are made in China by several different names (City CoCo, Fanco) and this one is pictured on those sites as an older version of a chopper they used to have but, not now, not listed for sale that I could find. Please supply contact information for this chopper scooter.

    The Ola looks promising, but it doesn't have a removable battery. What I want is a scooter like Ola, but where I can buy an extra battery. Then I can carry the fully charged extra battery with me in a backpack so that I can swap it out and get double the range while I'm out driving.

      The Ola S1 Pro does have a part fixed and part removable lithium-ion battery, but people in India aren't going for it as it has quality issues, especially the battery pack which tends to overheat to the point that you are no longer able to use its sport mode for more than 15 mins. Some of the scooters have also caught fire because of heat waves in India during the summer. Anyway it would be fixed by the time it comes to the US.

    1300 miles on my CSC Monterey and loving how it rides. I did have to use green slime on both inner tubes already. The obvious throwback to the Honda super cub design makes it both stylish and comfortable to ride. It is very much like the Honda Passport I had back in college. Now if it just went as fast.

      Of course they do.
      Daymark offer Lithium batteries upgrades to all their bikes.
      When people replace their battery on any e-Bike/ scooter ,nobody buys another lead acid battery.
      When I buy a replacement battery I want to get one on my own online, to make sure the battery company uses quality cell from Samsung,LG or Panasonic. I would not trust Daymark lithium upgrade with China cells.
      Basically buy a bike and ask if they will lower the price if you buy it without a battery and then shop for a quality battery with higher Amp/Hour rating,on your own.

    What I love about these electric scooters is that a bunch of them have more torque than a bunch of small ICE powered cars on the road, and they weigh 10 less,
    Torque to weight ratio is bananas,
    These scooters have to be electronically limited getting to speed because they should be a lot faster,
    250lb scooter with 148 Lb torque
    Torque per tonne on that is over 1300 foot pound per tonne, hp still buns per tonne but 💁‍♂️

    The Ola seems too good to be true, the Kumpan looks good but charging significantly more than Vespa for the top-of-the-line model seems like a tough sell. Some of the others look like the gray-market crap that all the delivery drivers use here in NYC. Like cheap Chinese ICE scooters they probably won't be serviceable just a few years down the line, but cheap enough to throw away. Which of course wipes out any of the environmentally-friendly appeal.

    • @Datacube

      Hello, thanks for your feedback. Got a question about your remark about Kumpan. Are you comparing it to an electric or an ICE Vespa?

    • @BCThunderthud
      @BCThunderthud 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Datacube specifically to the Elettrica. Their top model is $1400 more, and maybe it has performance to justify it, but what they don't have is a long-standing dealer network, and the confidence that parts and service will be available in 5 or 10 years that goes with that.

    • @Datacube
      @Datacube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having a dealer network is awesome but don't you think that Vespa should accelerate their electrification efforts? There are many younger companies like Niu that have far more extensive model ranges.

      @BCThunderthud 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Datacube Maybe, it makes sense to introduce something at the 50cc/speed-limited part of the market, I'm surprised they haven't done a Piaggio model at least. I'm still waiting to see an EV Honda Cub too.

    • @BCThunderthud
      @BCThunderthud 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to judge from the US, some of these companies might be huge and I wouldn't know. It just seems bold to compete at the $7-9k price point rather than 4-5 where NIU is, you don't see Kymco and SYM try that in the ICE market.

  • @cybercanal5319
    @cybercanal5319 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Too many of these are too damn slow. You need at least 60 mph minimum to keep up with flow of traffic on some of these busier roads in the US. My commute is only 6 miles one way, but there is a 3 lane bridge marked 45 where people routinely do 50+, a 2 lane road in front of school marked 35 where people do 50, and a 3 lane mixed residential/commercial turnpike marked 45 where people go 60. Not being able to keep up or move with ample head room could equal death on one of these slower models.

    since there is no regenerative power ability, we need hybrid scooters. hybrid would eliminate buying alot of batteries or swapping out or the argument for lithium. otherwise, you're driving a short-run hobby. how can you expect a practical person to pay big bucks for a hobby?

    • @Datacube
      @Datacube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thanks for your feedback. Many modern scooters have regenerative braking. What do you mean by hybrid scooters? Those that run both on ICE and electric power?

    • @evshrug
      @evshrug 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having two drive trains would increase the bulk, and most hybrids still can’t run with a dead battery.
      But as someone else said in the comments, a $799-$3k battery every few years is better than the price of gas over 3-5 years.

  • @NemoEUC
    @NemoEUC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Been waiting for this for a while but to be honest none of these are as good as the EU EVs. The onyx has the best performance and it's not even considered a legal scooter since it has pedals. The BMW is too expensive. The NIU doesn't have the performance. All others are meh, not great. The best one I believe shouldve been on this list is the NIU NGT.

    • @stephenverchinski409
      @stephenverchinski409 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 4 kw motor for the NIU would get it to a comfortable 45. My question on all of these is the heat of the southwest on battery performance.

    • @Samael1113
      @Samael1113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same.
      I became interested in EVs recently (and again after the gas spike), and have been nothing but disappointed in almost all the state-side offerings.
      No performance, or ridiculous prices for mediocre performance (and a few decent prices for really good performance but more than I am interested in, in both cases).
      But looking at EU offerings, companies like Silence and Super have solid performance and price. 5k for 60 mph and 100+ mile range is pretty good.
      Silence even has a car version releasing this year for 8k, which would cover exceptionally hot, cold or wet weather better than the scooters.
      They seem like really strong choices for a second vehicle that is inexpensive and effective, maybe 1-2k on new batteries every 5+ years, instead of spending like 3k-5k/year on fuel. (Figure 5$/gallon, 15 gallon tank / fill, 5 fill-ups a month, 12 months/year = 4500$). Other costs should be much lower too.
      Just sad and frustrating.
