Question on how to achieve a decent fall on the drain pipe. The elbow fitting in the corner was glued so presumably not moving much. So do you just 'force' the pipe up at the downpipe side to create the fall?
Just want to ask something. I have Willis Emersion heater attached to my hot water tank and if I try and use it then it seems to have gone into reverse flow!!!! The hot water should rise and enter the top of the tank but it seems to be blocked from flowing in that direction so it over boils (kettles apparently, people seem to use them for underfloor heating) and actually expels the hot water from the bottom (what is suppose to be the intake!) of the Willis unit so it can flow in that direction around the loop but not the normal direction which I suspect is some sort of debrie blocking the flow in one direction possibly and so it heats the hot water tank from the bottom and so takes ages and there is some amazing clanking and sucking orchestra to accompany it all lol. It used to work in the other correct direction but no longer so I guess it needs disassembled to see what is causing this possible blockage? It's an old awkward system to drain etc but when it worked properly it was great but now it's doing my head in.
Hi James, I hope them two machines don't discharge at the same time, coz that downpipe don't look long enough, it could back flow out the pipe, hope ya tested it!!
@@dimitar4y methyl ethyl ketone, aka the correct degreaser prior to jointing PVC with adhesive. Two reasons- Firstly contamination on the mating surfaces stops it bonding correctly, mold release from manufacture or even finger prints. Secondly, MEK being pretty aggressive, also primes the surface for bonding, goes matte after cleaning, giving it a bit of a key to further improve adhesion 👍
Why are waste pipes always taken upward before entering the pipework? Washing machines in particular don't pump all the water out once air gets in, which leaves stagnating water in the grey pipes.
Yes! Got to wear that lab coat. Elf n safety. You forgot the following: Anti slip, non-conductive, steel-toed work boots. Natural fibred socks with antibacterial enzymes. (Stops you having to see if they stick to the wall, before you change them) Comfy undies. Flame retardant, branded work trousers incorporating ranti rip fibres, elephant eared storage pockets (just don't let your trunk hang out in public) Gloves. Flame retardant shirt (bra is optional, even for men. Moooobs!) Stab vest, welders helmet, ear/nag defenders (See Loafer's missus) Air raid siren warning of impending doom and wallet on a sturdy chain. I must have forgotten something? 🤔 All suggestions appreciated.
You missed being careful around lasers and reflective metal surfaces, had goggles on his forehead but I don't know if that type would help anyway :P The laser wasn't very powerful but elf and safety assumes you'd sit and stare at it for 10 seconds.
Very poor installation, If you cut into that waste pipe at the correct height then the pipe waste pipe you installed would not have crossed in front of that existing wall mounted valve, also the length of waste pipe you fitted along the wall would not have had to slope up so steeply in order for the U bend to miss the existing copper pipe work.

Of all the guides on fitting waste pipe, this is one
Ha! Thanks.
You can get adapters that provide a flat surface for the gasket at 11:01 instead of nipping up to a chamfered edge on that isolator.
Can you recommend what brand washing machine compression valve to buy
Shouldn’t you install a double check valve before the washing machine connection ? Or is it not needed that’s how I’ve been taught
There's one on the water softener. Tbf it's probably overkill anyway...as are all regulations made up by men in suits and not men in boiler suits! 😂
@@plumberparts agreed 😂

I never knew about cutting the rubber spigot off the appliance hose if it goes in to the upstand. hat happens if its left on?
Hi James, I hope them two machines don't discharge at the same time, coz that downpipe don't look long enough, it could back flow out the pipe, hope ya tested it!!
Then he'll get called back and he'll just get one of those spigot fittings and slap it right on, with zero chance of it ever overflowing again.
Waste is definitely too small for simultaneous discharge… 💦 Also no MEK before gluing? Clean your end before going in!!!
@@joun456 the heck is a "MEK" or "clean your end before going in"
@@dimitar4yNot now he’s cut the rubbers off the two hoses!

Where do you join the members area? I can’t find the link?
Use a twin spigot adaptor with air vent is better than just shoving the 2 hoses in the down pipe
good call that
Fire extinguishers are good for holding laser levels. You should have one around anyway!

I never use joining compound but I use Loctite threadlocker on the threads to be sure😉. great stuff
Let's see your cat George again please.❤
Camera tripod works well for my laser level. It's got the right thread in the bottom.
I will put my life on it that youll be the one fitting the new prv when it eventually goes 😂 great video 👍
check out the plumberparts mandem and their sick grimebeats on the intro fam!
the FUNNIEST part is you giving up and bringing in a trolley :D

Soo, just fix the new pipe over the valve handle and don't worry about it, job done, get paid, someone else's problem later? Got it.
Exactly that! Have a great life! 😂🙏
I am in hospital tonight whiching your vlog
Hope you get well soon David!
Why would anyone drill into mortar joints for a decent fixing!

I don’t agree with cutting the rubbers off. I’ve been using a twin spigot adapter compression fitting on a 40mm downpipe since 2010.
The thumb nail pic looks a bit naughty.....look at it again! Looks like youve whipped out ya chopper!
Wishful thinking...... 🤣
Compression fittings without compound just leak. Always leak.
Them fluxuators are crap mate
Ah mate mine's great. Apart from the brush bit at the back. What's wrong with your one? I'll tells Debs.
@@plumberparts much easier to use a tub of flux with a hole in the top. Can spread it evenly and quicker especially on price work
