    I've read some comments on how you're good with the excavator and not anthother peace of machine but I think you're good with any you operate. You can runn anything you set in. Good job!

    Not sure if this helps but I always chalk the front and rear trailer tires before I load and unload. It helps with the ramps bottoming out and pushing on the truck that’s towing.

    Quick tip for spreading with a box blade. Lower your teeth down if your blade has them and reverse them so they glide and don’t dig/cut you can put them down below the box usually 2-3” and it will float along existing surface and spread everything even.

    • @828biggs
      @828biggs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it! I have never tried it but it makes sense to my small brain. So im gonna try. Thank ya much SLC Farms Merry Christmas to you and yours!
      A lot cheaper than a hydraulic top link which I still want real bad!

    • @SLCFarms
      @SLCFarms 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really only need the 2 outer teeth. It really works well

    • @letsdig18
      @letsdig18  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ill have to try that. its like the lift arms dont float with the tractor right, everytime I go over a bump it either dumps all the gravel or scrapes it clean

    • @mattywho8485
      @mattywho8485 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just get a land plane instead of the box scraper, if you're going to spread the stone out with the bucket (as I do as well, because you get even coverage) then a few passes with the land plane (which has two cutting edges) riding on it's own skids that are about 4 feet long, it does not cut in or create speed bumps, it makes a perfectly smooth even surface without dragging a "box" full of material. And as another person commented, get a hydraulic top link !

    • @SLCFarms
      @SLCFarms 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a land plane was just giving advice on how to spread evenly with a box blade. Hydro top link is not needed and just an extra expense.

  • @RRRIBEYE
    @RRRIBEYE 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Hey, Chris....I bet if you got a hydraulic center link for that box blade, you would be surprised how well those work in grading! I did it for years and there's a purpose for the front bucket and the box. I also had a hydraulic cylinder for the rippin' teeth too. But how it worked for me, is using the center link and rolling the cutting edge down, it was great for grabbing the rock and pulling (keeping the blade a few inches off the grade) then when ready to spread, roll up the cutting edge so instead of a cut - it's more just riding along the reverse of the back cutting blade, so it's not cutting - just smoothing out to a nice, even couple inches and the box keeps it from going beyond the edges of the drive. Just my $.02 worth. I agree however - without that center link being hydraulic - you're probably better off just using the bucket. Too much a pain in the ass otherwise, lol. Thanks for the video. As always, nice work! Merry Christmas!

      Jon Panzarella my brother in law had a open old John Deer 401C back hoe. I was at his ranch in Northern California and we got hit with a bad storm. We took turns on the back hoe all night in the pouring rain directing logs in the stream from causing a back up and flood the property. We were wet to the bone. We had a 12 hour break in the weather before a bigger storm was going to hit. We drove to Redding Ca, he told the Cat dealer he would right a check for that brand new 416B heated, A/C enclosed cab with the extended hoe if they could deliver it within 4 hours. With the stroke of his pen on a check it was there in 2 hours. It was a much better night for us.

      No sense letting the truck do 67.83% of the spreading when you can blame it on a tree. He's good in an excavator and equipment with tracks...but doesn't know how to save time in a dump truck. Just pointing out the obvious.

      It is. I just purchased my first Kioti CK2510HST with the backhoe a few months back. The power you get, as well as the lower price compared to other color tractors, it was a no brainer for me. A buddy of mine purchased an RK24 with backhoe right after I purchased my Kioti. Both are 25hp tractors. Both have good/not so good aspects but overall, I'd give the win to the Kioti. With the RK24, you cant operate the front loader and 3-point hitch at the same time - gotta be one or the other. And the Kioti is certainly more powerful than the RK24.
