Asheville is a perfect little town! I appreciate it even more since moving away after a lifetime. I see it thru the eyes of a tourist! I miss my hometown.❤
It’s wonderful to hear how much Asheville means to you! ❤️ Seeing it through a tourist's eyes can bring a fresh appreciation for all its charms. 🌼 I hope you get to visit often and relive those cherished memories. 🏞️
Biltmore House is expensive (@$100+/person...depending on the season). Kids are often bored, so keep that in mind. If you are into antiques and gardening...it is amazing. The white water rafting footage (6:07) is from the Nantahala Outdoor Center (the rafts have NOC on them and it's about an hour and half drive from Asheville...worth it). While there are places along Asheville's section of the French Broad River, for white water rafting, rapids are usually closer to Marshall/Madison County. It is not uncommon to see people rafting and tubing down the calmer section of river going through Asheville, though you want to keep an eye on the water quality...it can have high levels of E-Coli. There are a variety of gem mines within a short drive of Asheville. Our fave is Elijah Mountain in Hendersonville. WNC Nature Center is a fun activity. There are also some fun museums to visit like the Pinball Museum, Asheville Museum of Science, The Moog Museum (Moogseum) to name a few. Loads of small shops, antique stores and an outlet mall if shopping is your thing. There are spas and a salt cave if you want to relax. There are escape rooms. If the paranormal is your thing...there are haunted tours, too. Restaurants...Juicy Lucy's for hamburgers, Black Bear BBQ for brisket and burnt ends, Little Pigs BBQ for their broasted chicken...there are really too many great restaurants to list.
I agree about the beauty of it. All cities have must try restaurants, many of them less expensive than the ones in Asheville. It's just not a travel destination that I can get excited about.
Totally get it! 😊 Every traveler has their preferences, and that's what makes exploring diverse places so exciting. 🌍✨ Safe travels on your adventures! 🚗
Asheville native here. The city is a dump. The people are hypocritical trash. There are also like 10 housing projects in the city. Kind of a lot for such a small, garbage town. Stop spreading your lies.
If you live in Asheville and bought an affordable home 15-20 years ago then the Biltmore Estate yearly pass for over a hundred dollars is a bargain. It gives you almost the whole estate for bicycling and hiking. Be careful letting yourself or you pet venture into the French Broad or surrounding streams because they always have no swim advisories for extreme high levels of ecoli. The Arboretum is nice for a gentle walk but can be very boring for those under eighteen.
Nice overview. Better title would be “Things to do in & AROUND AVL” since Lake Lure is ~44 minutes away from AVL & Mount Mitchell is ~44 minutes in the other direction. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊 The Blue Ridge Parkway is indeed a beautiful spot for a weekend getaway. 🌄 Everyone has their favorite places, and it's great that you have one so close by in TN. 🚗
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It's disheartening when a visit doesn't live up to expectations. Safe travels wherever your journey takes you next. 🌄🚗
I understand. Beauty can often be overshadowed by other factors. It's essential to find places that truly resonate with you. 🌍 Wishing you happy travels wherever you go! ✈️🌺
I lived there in the 90s. Worked for city. Downtown was just being revitalized. Lots of housing available with a few spots expensive. Belle Chere. Safe. Not a lot of traffic. Nice local folks. Decent hospital. Restaurants expanding. I honestly loved it. Today a different place. It was advertised as best city and that is when all the rich liberal retirees came causing prices to go up for everything. I moved to another college city later touted as best city and once again it got ruined by wealthy libs. I moved again. Hard to believe but current city also named best city and now traffic beyond belief. It is not ruined yet, but we moved outside city just in case. “Best city” is a curse.
Chimney Rock is a fantastic spot! 🌄 It offers stunning views and a range of outdoor activities. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Asheville area and enjoy nature and hiking. 🥾🌿
I hope you get the chance to visit again soon and relive some cherished memories. Asheville has likely changed quite a bit since 1969, so there might be some exciting new experiences awaiting you. Safe travels when you do make the trip! 🌄🚗
Come and spend lots of tourist dollars, enjoy with consideration, then go home with a smile on your face. But DO NOT move here!! the problems with homelessness, panhandling and violence to property and people continues to grow as the population increase. Come, enjoy and go home, please.
Many of these attractions are NOT Asheville. Visit western North Carolina, avoid Asheville. The Arboretum is an environmental disaster, bricks, concrete, and asphalt in the Pisgah National Forest where trees used to be. Craft breweries? DUI is a problem.
Disagree about the craft breweries. The types of people that go to those places are not those that like "getting genuinely impaired". They tend to drink a couple of beers, eat, sit for a bit or go walking. They don't go to those places to get hammered. In fact, that attitude isn't wanted nor welcomed. I'm sure it DOES happen, but the same type of people will chug beer in an Ingles or Food Lion parking lot and be even worse off. Ingles and Food Lion can't control what happens after you buy the beer and "leave". A brewery will cut your ass off and/or call the law if necessary. They don't want a bad rep for that crap. It's the kind of shit that would put them out of business.
I hear you. 😔 Asheville's popularity has brought some challenges with crowds and costs. Hopefully, you can find quieter spots or visit during off-peak times for a better experience. 🌿

I live in pisgah forest....it's the greatest place I could ever hope to be.
That sounds amazing! 🌲 Pisgah Forest is such a beautiful and peaceful place to call home. I’m glad you’ve found your perfect spot! 🏞️
Already visited for Biltmore. Nice place.
Glad to hear you enjoyed Biltmore! 🏰 It's definitely a highlight in Asheville. 🌟

Thanks for watching! 😊 You make a great point about the title, and I'll definitely keep that in mind for future videos. 🌟 I appreciate your feedback!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is the only part that I like to visit for a weekend. I live in TN and wouldn’t ever move to Asheville.

We were just there. We will not be going back.

Same with Florida! Full!
Sometimes popular destinations can feel a bit overwhelming. Hope you find a spot that suits your taste better. 🌴✨

@@waynepurcell6058 Alcohol, which includes craft breweries and craft distilleries = DUI. Thank you for confirming my point. 👍🏼
A DANGEROUS TOWN! DO NOT GO THERE!
Overcrowded and expensive.

STAY AWAY!
