Good find on the brown wire. I’m installing XB hybrids in the next few days and there was no way I was going to make a hole in the fuse box or lid. I was planning to use an upfitter switch until I saw this video.
Thank you for this video. Great content. Am thinking of doing the same thing to my 2020 6.7L Superduty. Would prefer to avoid the fuse box connection like you did. Has the brown start/run wire under the upfitter box been a reliable solution for you? How do you like the Morimoto XB headlights now, two years in? Thanks!
@@RandyFendon Brown wire working perfectly. Attractive lights. Low beam output is 2x better than halogen. Could be brighter. High beams have a narrow throw, not great on turns. Other complaint is that when you turn the headlights off, the running lights stay on. I may be able to shut that off in settings haven’t tried yet. Good quality fixtures though.
I just ordered these headlights. I'm new to electrical work, so sorry if my terms aren't correct. When you tapped into the brown wire, did you splice it to the fuse tap enclosure, and then splice the other end of the enclosure to the wiring harness that came with the headlights? It seems like I really just need two butt connectors and an enclosure, am I missing anything?
@@OldSoulMillennial Yes- tested at 14 volts when ignition is on. Proceeded with light install last weekend. Worked well. Thanks again for a great video. Now - let's see the video for adding / integrating Morimoto fog lamps!
Well, I was debating returning these lights because of that BJB fuse bullshit. I'll check to see if the Upfitter wire bundle on my 22 has the PTO wire as a KO source.... if it does you just saved my ass a lot of stress and time! Thanks!
I have these lights sitting in my shed for my 2020 and glad I watched this, I really didnt want to tap into my fuse box. Did you cut the fuse link off the wire they provided and then install your own fuse, I know you installed your own just wasnt sure if you cut theirs off
Sorry, I don't recall. I think I may have left it in. That brown (pto wire) definitely has its own fuse somewhere. Your call on what you wanna do. Can't go wrong either way imo
@@jorgeramos1105 I don't believe I added a fuse, as that brown pto wire is already fused. I don't recall what gauge I used. I would say that you should be safe with 12 gauge. Make sure you use pure copper stranded wire. Avoid Copper clad aluminum.
I just installed them on my 2022 F 250, but with amber DRL , they are great in low beam, but not very impressed when running high beam no much difference from low beam . How are yours on high beam ?
High beams have a very narrow throw. I can see strait ahead, but going around corners, leaves a lot to be desired. Low beams are 2 times brighter than the original halogen lights, but still could be a bit brighter.
Man, really well done video! Nice job!
I just got the same lights today.
I’ll be using this for a guide when I install them.
Thanks!
Great video. Love the detail

Brown wire has worked flawlessly for me. No issues

@@OldSoulMillennial Thanks so much. Your content is great. I have subscribed and liked....
Thank you for this video. I’m ordering my headlights right now if it wasn’t for you I would’ve never bought them. Thank you.
Now if only I could get Morimoto to sponsor me!
REALLY a well done video and great installation! Glad I found this and look forward to seeing additional content from this channel. Thank you.
Nice one on that wire you surely help all of us 😅. I’m getting those headlights for sure. I got a fifth wheel and my halogens made me nervous 😂👍🏻
Nice 👍

I can confirm that my 2022 6.2L has the PTO supply wires bundled with the Upfitter wiring as in your video.
Thank you for the confirmation. Im sure this will help someone out. Did you test for power when the truck ignition is on? By chance

Without the stock Grey Connector Connected Does That Allow Fogs with Brights?

I was in the same boat, didn't want to cut the fuse box or install a half ass fuse tap. Brown pto wire is KEY
Saved them a return on this end as well! @@OldSoulMillennial

What type wire and did you solder?
I need help doing the install from upfitter box can you make another video explaining out you did the install
Which wire did you use under the upfitter relay I have a 2022 F-250
Look at your up fitter wire harness under the hood. There is a label attached to the wires explaining which wire corresponds to which switch.
What wire gauge did you use and did you add a 10 amp fuse for the headlight and another for the putco emblem

How did you wire the ground for the headlights or was that done for the lighted emblem?
Ground is only needed for the emblem.

How are they doing, any issues since installing? Just ordered the Hybrids!
No Issues! No Regrets!
How’s the brown wire working for the DRLs? I just got these and I’m going to try going that same route
Perfect. Everything is working flawlessly.
@@OldSoulMillennial that’s good to hear. I just hooked mine up like that a few days ago and it’s working great so far
@@OldSoulMillennial What size in-line wire did you use to hook up the brown wire? Thanks
@@johndavidson9423yea what he said lol
Need some strobes for the new truck
Definitely, if I every decide to add a plow.
The plastic grill is a little heavy😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
