So after receiving the truck, this legit might be the only way to do the passenger side. You could do the driver side through the wheel well. But the passenger has the airbox blocking all of it. Now I can’t seem to remove the airbox...it’s tricky. If anyone knows anything about it let me know.

Bradley Beyer - it’s a complete pain in the arse compared to how it used to be. The back of the headlights used to be reachable without undoing a single thing except the lightbulb. And further back you did have to remove and replace the whole light but it was generally much simpler than this. So when you make a comment, understand that many of us have been around since the 50s and 60s and maybe even have owned trucks from as far back as the 30s or 20s. I had SuperDutys on the ranch and hated them for this compared to the easier trucks to work on prior. To the latest versions.

Not everyone wants LED's. They guys using their trucks with snowplows are rapidly learning that halogen lights are better because snow/sleet doesn't freeze on the lens because of the heat.

The 13 mm bolt that holds in the bottom of the light assembly is tricky to get to even with a swivel and short quarter drive socket so what I did was I loosened up the two 15 mm bumper bolts and just pushed down the bumper slightly. It doesn't take much but the socket went right in there. Hope that helps.
Wow. I thought that was crazy taking apart front end for light bulbs. The I went and changed mine in less than an hour with out taking off grill. 2021 F250 SD

Good pointers brother. My ‘21 F250 had a slightly different grille. Instead of the slide off tabs at the bottom, the whole chrome piece on the bottom comes off with snap clips. The process overall is absurd though. Changing a lightbulb shouldn’t be an all afternoon project.

For those of you who don't understand, reflector housings cast light like a flood, so when you increase light output by 4-6 times, guess what the opposing traffic is seeing?(This is worsened by the goofballs who don't level their headlights after leveling or lifting their trucks) There's a reason certain municipalities ban their unholy union. Just wait for replacement projector beam housings to show up on ebay, then go nuts.
Just angling the headlights up, or putting a Leveling kit on the front end would Probable have helped more! Is There an LED option Available from the Factory or Aftermarket?
I've used these headlights before and they do make a difference over stock. I bought hella headlight conversion where you can change the bulb for my 92 suburban instead of the sealed beam headlights. It was a night and day difference and the bulbs lasted over 7 yrs for me. I've also used them in other vehicles and they always made a little bit of a difference in my opinion
Point of this video make sure you check the 1800.00 hid box when ordering a ford super duty or get the platinum or Limited trim when ordering . Nice video though !

Stop stop stop! You do NOT have to take the headlights or the grill out of this truck to install aftermarket headlight bulbs. On the driver side, remove one push pin holding the washer fluid fill tube in place, and you have access to the driver side light. On the passenger side, remove the air intake tube next to the battery with one push pin, and you have access to the passenger side light. How do I know? I have one of these Super Duty's and just did it without removing the grill, or the headlights, and yes I have Gorilla paws.
Kevin Soderquist On my 2018 F-150 you can access the headlights from the wheel well. Crank the wheels to the side you’re working on, pull the wheel well liner and you’re there. I wouldn’t be surprised if this method would work on the 250/350
Kevin Soderquist I did my headlights the same way. Just remove 3 bolts in the inner fender well and upgraded to Full LED low beam, high beam and fogs. Best thing ever. Factory Ford halogen headlights are a joke.
Quick question, is the high beam only out of the bottom bulbs? On dim, all four bulbs are used, when i switch to high beam, it shuts off the top bulbs and only goes to the lowers. Wondering if this is normal or if its my truck or bulbs that has an issue. Thank you! I have a 2017 F250 XLT.
With a bulb replacement, you won't get any more distance for the beam because that is defined by the shape of the headlight and its reflector. You can only change the light color and get a slight increase in brightness in exchange for a little less lifetime. And I forgot to say, most of the blue-tinted halogen bulbs have a very poor light output on wet roads.
Did a bulb swap myself just recently. Hardly noticed a difference myself, only slightly whiter and brighter. To get the difference to better show up on camera first get the beams to shine equidistant on a flat white wall, adjust manual settings - ISO 100; aperture 2.4-3.5; and shutter 130-150fps. This will knock down any glare from the reflectors plus any secondary emissions sources. The resulting image will be very dark and uninspiring, but it is “truthful”. I will show you the true difference, between aftermarket and factory bulbs.
Stupid question: do the headlights ever only turn on the top two bulbs and not the bottom…….it’s an XL not sure if Ford cheaper it out and didn’t add the wiring or what…..please help
I changed my no fog light bumper for a fog light bumper. While installing, I found that you can adjust it to hang lower which makes it easier to access the side bolt on the headlights. Just becareful not to hang to low for the protective rubber insert to to its job. The factory didnt line it up properly to access the side bolt. You can loosen the bumper adjust and then tighten, you'll never have that problem again.
Passenger side can be replaced without removing anything. All you have to remove is the air box on the driver's side which takes all of one minute to do. This guy took the absolute longest way to do this project.

Must be part of Ford's "better idea" campaign. I've got an S550 Mustang and it also requires a what I consider to be a significant amount of disassembly to get to the headlight bulbs.
I wouldn't have gone through all that trouble to only replace it with slightly better Halogens. I would have gone and asked the guys at Headlight Revolution to go a collab and pick a set of some really sweet LED headlights. The GTR Ultra Series Gen 2 are some of the best. Give those a whirl

Pulled the whole front off my dad’s Fusion when he bought that a few years back. If I have to do all that work I’m upgrading to LEDs. What do you need to do for that? Can’t be as simple as plugging in different style bulbs. Reality isn’t that good to us.

My only complaint with this video is that the headlights can not be sufficiently compared while indoors. He really should have taken the truck outside and light up the rear parking lot or driveway to show the difference with them. Just like how Andre took the Rebel out to the woods to show how effective the lows, highs and roof lights were. :)
I bought these same bulbs for my Frontier. I didn't have to dismantle anything and it took me 10 minutes. 8 of which was spent removing the bulbs from the packaging.
As far as halogen bulbs go, the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra is the one to go with... unless you get your hands on PIAA Night Tech bulbs. And quite frankly, I don't see them shelling out money for all the LED bulbs or different headlights altogether considering they will probably own the truck for a year like the Rebel.
The lightbulb industry is a scam mostly. You can kinda play around with the color, but you generally sacrifice brightness for color with halogen. Most of your poor performance on lighting is due to the reflector housing. Changing bulbs isn’t going to do much. Occasionally, they do put crappy bulbs as stock, and so you can put in ones like these to get a little better output. But the beam is still only going to go where the reflector aims it. They do provide a little bit of a “cooler” look when looking at the vehicle though. But that’s about it.
That was a complete waste of time and money. If you want to improve the light output from your headlights you need to go to Headlight Revolution and upgrade to LED Bulbs. I installed a set of LED's in my 2016 F-350 Super Duty and could not be happier.
It was whole lot pain when I was installing my anzo after market headlight assembly on my 16' f150. then I changed to new LED bulbs a week after, same process I did twice for taking everything off, and put everything back on, I hate how ford design it, and those cheap plastic parts...
If you havent (obviously TFL hasnt) watched the countless headlight upgrade videos on headlights, you either go high end LED or HID conversion. Just a halogen bulb upgrade looks good for a couple weeks. Reflector style seems to do better with LEDs while projector style dominates with HIDs. HID generally makes the best setup unless its an engineered system with LEDs.
Good video. The lights are good replacement, but not a upgrade. I miss the days when there was 2 or 3 Philip's screws on the out side of the lens to access the bulbs.
I have a 2016 f150 lariat all stock with really bright lights and people are always flashing me to dim them. They are in proper alignment with no leveling kit. I wouldn't want any brighter lights as it might cause road rage issues. I have had several people who I was following slow and get behind me then turn on their brights for a moment . Their protest is wasted since my rear window is tinted and my side mirrors are auto dimming.
Great vid👍like light globe installation, my D40 had rubber surroundings which is very tricky to seal dust out, even Holden Commodore had dust caps. I had expensive replacement lights fitted to Commodore but they would last as long as normal globes, although I notice a big difference especially high beams and I do a lot country driving at night, trying dodge Kangaroos 🦘.

Not necessarily. Go to Headlight Revolution here on TH-cam and, look at some of their 2017-2019 Super Duty LED upgrade videos.

Only led known to have the oem cutoff, but better beam spread is the GTR Lighting one. Unfortunately, they cost around $550-$600 for this truck.

Just becareful not to hang to low for the protective rubber insert to to its job. The factory didnt line it up properly to access the side bolt. You can loosen the bumper adjust and then tighten, you'll never have that problem again.
Passenger side can be replaced without removing anything. All you have to remove is the air box on the driver's side which takes all of one minute to do. This guy took the absolute longest way to do this project.

It may have been easier to take the fender liners out to try to get to the bottom light
Must be part of Ford's "better idea" campaign. I've got an S550 Mustang and it also requires a what I consider to be a significant amount of disassembly to get to the headlight bulbs.
I wouldn't have gone through all that trouble to only replace it with slightly better Halogens. I would have gone and asked the guys at Headlight Revolution to go a collab and pick a set of some really sweet LED headlights. The GTR Ultra Series Gen 2 are some of the best. Give those a whirl

That's an interesting video, thanks for taking the time to show how the grill comes off. I been thinking about getting an illuminated FORD emblem for the front grill on my 2020. As for the headlight swap I think I'll try the fender well method as mentioned below. To bad you didn't install LED bulbs, that's what I was hoping for when I found this video. Do another video using the fender well route and switch to LED. Thanks again for taking the time to produce the video.

Pulled the whole front off my dad’s Fusion when he bought that a few years back. If I have to do all that work I’m upgrading to LEDs. What do you need to do for that? Can’t be as simple as plugging in different style bulbs. Reality isn’t that good to us.
I know it wasn't 'about the bulbs' but, seriously, no side-by-side comparison from the interior? Not even a shot from the interior after the full installation? You literally started by showing us the 'before'. I was disappointed. I know, I know, I must be a troll or something...
My only complaint with this video is that the headlights can not be sufficiently compared while indoors. He really should have taken the truck outside and light up the rear parking lot or driveway to show the difference with them.
Just like how Andre took the Rebel out to the woods to show how effective the lows, highs and roof lights were. :)

I bought these same bulbs for my Frontier. I didn't have to dismantle anything and it took me 10 minutes. 8 of which was spent removing the bulbs from the packaging.
I'm thinking of replacing my headlights on my f-250 2021 brand new. All that work for no different lol wow. LED IS THE WAY TO GO.

As far as halogen bulbs go, the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra is the one to go with... unless you get your hands on PIAA Night Tech bulbs.
And quite frankly, I don't see them shelling out money for all the LED bulbs or different headlights altogether considering they will probably own the truck for a year like the Rebel.
So...do you reccomend this mod or not?

The lightbulb industry is a scam mostly. You can kinda play around with the color, but you generally sacrifice brightness for color with halogen. Most of your poor performance on lighting is due to the reflector housing. Changing bulbs isn’t going to do much. Occasionally, they do put crappy bulbs as stock, and so you can put in ones like these to get a little better output. But the beam is still only going to go where the reflector aims it. They do provide a little bit of a “cooler” look when looking at the vehicle though. But that’s about it.
That was a complete waste of time and money. If you want to improve the light output from your headlights you need to go to Headlight Revolution and upgrade to LED Bulbs. I installed a set of LED's in my 2016 F-350 Super Duty and could not be happier.

It was whole lot pain when I was installing my anzo after market headlight assembly on my 16' f150. then I changed to new LED bulbs a week after, same process I did twice for taking everything off, and put everything back on, I hate how ford design it, and those cheap plastic parts...

If you havent (obviously TFL hasnt) watched the countless headlight upgrade videos on headlights, you either go high end LED or HID conversion. Just a halogen bulb upgrade looks good for a couple weeks. Reflector style seems to do better with LEDs while projector style dominates with HIDs. HID generally makes the best setup unless its an engineered system with LEDs.
Why didn't you do a retrofit LED kit? That would have been a noticeable difference over halogen.
Good video. The lights are good replacement, but not a upgrade. I miss the days when there was 2 or 3 Philip's screws on the out side of the lens to access the bulbs.
I have a 2016 f150 lariat all stock with really bright lights and people are always flashing me to dim them. They are in proper alignment with no leveling kit. I wouldn't want any brighter lights as it might cause road rage issues. I have had several people who I was following slow and get behind me then turn on their brights for a moment . Their protest is wasted since my rear window is tinted and my side mirrors are auto dimming.
Sylvanias never lasted more than six months for me

Great vid👍like light globe installation, my D40 had rubber surroundings which is very tricky to seal dust out, even Holden Commodore had dust caps. I had expensive replacement lights fitted to Commodore but they would last as long as normal globes, although I notice a big difference especially high beams and I do a lot country driving at night, trying dodge Kangaroos 🦘.
