Professional chef chiming in. This is a debate which will last forever, but i would like to point out in a botanical sense, they are indeed fruits, but in a culinary sense, they are vegetables. Even as a professional chef i refer to them as fruits and i side with rpr on this one.
^ same
"fruits" are a botanical term while "vegetable" is a culinary term
its like saying my favorite drink is H2O(chemical term) vs liquid(physical state)
corn, cucumbers, capsicum and eggplants are technically fruits but we cook them "as a vegetable"
"Tomatoes are fruits that are considered vegetables by nutritionists. Botanically, a fruit is a ripened flower ovary and contains seeds. Tomatoes, plums, zucchinis, and melons are all edible fruits, but things like maple “helicopters” and floating dandelion puffs are fruits too."
im gonna eat a dandelion
@@tamagoGG Funny enough the entire dandelion is edible, from the flower, roots, leaves, and stems, but each requires a different method of preparation.
I believe the flower and leaves are mostly consumed compared to the stem and root.
Ah yes, the most confusing thing brought up...
A tomato.
RP's nihonggo are improving day by day. love it~!
Man I love Lam's voice
Thank goodness for his bank account.
They are associated with vegetables in the kitchen, but they are fruits because they contain seeds, just like cucumbers. Saying tomatoes are vegetables would be like saying that dolphins are fish.
Ah, Kaki, the orange colour persimmon lookalike that mostly grows before Winter in Japan
Kaki is a type of persimmon, though I only know that because of how many I saw in peoples' yards when I was in Japan and asked a friend. I've heard of persimmons in passing, but have never had one before.
wait until they realize that potato is a vegetable
it was debated on the kitchen stuff things, mostly because have seed, tomato kit from the tree also works like fruit, not like vegetables. even watermelon on the ground also called fruit.
Also tomato is more watery than fruit used to be.
Kaki I believe is called hachiya at least in the states. They’re very good and would make a good gelato or any desserts. The thought of Oyster gelato made me throw up in my mouth
Oh they are the same, ty for the fact.
i really thought that "kaki" that she mentioned from our language which is mean "feet"😭
Same 😂😂😂
At this point I start to wonder if you guys make your words on purpose like that, lol.
tomatoes are both fruits and vegetables ... take it as a win win.
Kaki confusion reminds me of classic gaki no tsukai no laughing 24 hours series in hospital, banana clip
Zucchini, Squash, Corn, Eggplant, Okra these are fruits too
Remember guys, it's all still rpr's fault. Not Kaki/persimmon's xD
Tomatoes are definitely fruits if you compare it to definition of fruits
F for Restia's bank account... Oh nvm, they're both lol
why i keep hearing natsuiro matsuri when kohana started talking
wait... i never though about what tomato is before
Thats the problem with no universal identifier, plus the fact that various cultures and countries found the plant at various times, giving them their local names and identity, until someone with an 'educated' background and enough authority promotes their version widely enough that it ends up accepted by most people.
TOMATOES ARE VEGETABLES!
Squash has seed in them but they're not considered as "fruits"
Tomato is 100% a fruit though.
the truth about the plant, tomatoes are fruits as rpr sai because there are seeds. but theres no sense in forcing common ppl to acknowledge it is a fruit when they think of it as veggies in their daily meal. its just making controversion/arguments over nothing
Restia is dumb. Why would the size magically change something from a fruit to a vegetable
He was so close to being right, but then brought up the "seeds inside of them" thing.
Brb gonna eat some of my favourite veggies, strawberries.
…aren’t the seeds outside though and they’re considered the fruit? Strawberries are a reverse fruit as I recall, the flesh acts like a carrier or something.
@@nitsuji6705 How I learned it, wether or not it is a vegetable is defined by if you eat the plant itself, or just the seed carrying part, no matter where the seeds are. Carrots, that's a vegetable, as you eat the root itself. Tomatoes are fruits, since the main part of the plant is not eaten.
Thus strawberries are also a fruit, although they are this weird reverse kinda thing.
A strawberry is like a grape but the stem is thick. The part of strawberry we eat is equivalent to the stem of a grape. Since the seeds of the grape are inside the individual berries, those are the fruits. Same with strawberry.
