This clip recently caught my attention. I don't want it to be taken out of context, or sound like I'm complaining, because I wasn't. It's just one of many talks I have with my chat often (that I did not think it would get clipped). I'm very open with people who watch me and I try to explain to them why and how certain things happen because we have a very level headed community and can openly talk about things like this. We talk about various topics and sometimes we get to a topic like this. However, I always had respect for Selen and always will and any other person I collab with, I do not think the bad viewers are reflection of the entire community or a reflection of the streamer even. I'm happy I got to make a lot of friends and even tho some of it was rocky and filled with hate I would do it a million times again cause in the grand scheme of things the fun outweighed the hate! But as I said, please don't take it too seriously, it's just one of those "free talks" I have with chat about various things in life. I try to keep it real with my community and always will! Thank you Pebo-kun for always clipping the fun collabs and translating them, it means the world to me that clippers like you take the time out of your day to clip my streams.

Honestly I don't see much about how this clip is taken out of context. Personal opinion of course but your perspective is EXTREMELY based. Based in reality. Like seriously - we can dance around it and joke about it but behavior like what you describe in this clip is extremely toxic and prohibitive. Streamers, including VTubers, should be able to play with whoever they want. Interact with whoever they want. Their chats should be under no delusion that they "own" the streamer or "control" what the streamer does. Completely based! Side note - I am a HUGE Selen fan and I never knew that Selen fans were known to be like this. My favorite Selen streams, personally, is when she is collabing with other people. She brings out the chaos in everyone she collabs with and it's absolutely amazing. As a fan of Selen's I want to know that she is doing what she enjoys doing, not what chat wants her to do.

As a huge Towa fan, I love rpr even though I don't watch him that much. He threw himself into the rabbit hole head first and earnestly is trying to learn Japanese to interact with the streamers/friends he enjoys. I think a lot of it, for rpr specifically, is that the man is living the dream. A former gaming pro who has become a known entity who can collab and interact with all these Japanese vtuber/streamer circles regardless of gender and is getting to a functional level of Japanese. I'm personally so happy for the dude. He even got to collab with his oshi multiple times. Like cmon thats goated.
People just feel entitled with "their" streamers. If someone I watch is streaming with someone I don't like I just skip it. Just move on with my day and watch something else and catch the next one.

The first reactions to how certain people act towards idols was alien to us, and we made fun of that, now even among us (ye ye calm down) there are people acting like this. Inb4 ''people acted like this before too'' I have to disagree. Before 2020, when the idol boom came, no significant amount of people (enough to even notice) was going around saying stuff like ''You, leave my beloved Pokimane alone, how dare you talk to her'' lol. There were creeps of course, but nothing like virtual GF kind of thing where they went after people, No ''protect their smile'' cringe, if you get what I mean, and streamers collaborating with dudes didn't make anyone clench their butts
ps: Just to be sure, when people say ''Idol culture'' they don't refer to normal idol stuff, like one would say ''Pop Music Culture'', it is specifically referred to those people that act in a very creepy way and how the idol industry itself encourages and rewards them. For example, the most tragic episode of idol culture, is when a certain Idol got caught having a boyfriend, and she was encouraged by her agency to make a public apology by also shaving her whole head in Repentance.

Hearing about the Selen issue is very surprising to me. Axel/TSB is what properly introduced me to her and I've been casually watching her ever since, especially because I love her banter and vibes so much. I never caught wind of that some of the Dragoons were like that. I obviously haven't known her since debut, but from her personality and some early days clips I've seen, it seems impossible to me that she hasn't been like this since day 1. So you'd think people knew what they were getting into, yet some still get mad about it.

I think the whole thing with some fans hating on RPR was that one rank session when Selen ended up getting discouraged and just left the session, and some dragoons definitely took it way too personally and started throwing hate at RPR and making a ton of assumptions on their friendship as if they knew her personally. I think I've also seen a couple of Nocturnal haters bc of how often he plays with her and other delusional shit, but I personally love watching her interactions and banter with other people. In the end some "fans" really just need to understand that she's a full grown woman who can take care of herself and doesn't need a bunch of faceless nobodies on the internet misinterpreting her relationships with her friends and doing weird shit "for her sake" cause that's legitimately just creepy.

I don't think you'll see it in chat. Selen's mods will time a person out immediately and she has damn good mods. I think that stuff pops up on Doscord and on Twitter, mostly Twitter (of course)
Kronii used to get with this a lot too, her collab with Vesper went apeshit sideways when her subs went into his stream and started hurling insults and whatnot at him.
I think that hit a turning point for Hololive to not take the BS anymore, because historically in Japan these parasocials are called gachikois, and they're just really passionate about their love for their idols. But it's evident that these people were hurting and causing Holomems a lot of stress.

JP viewers respected him for speaking out against people calling Vsai (or whichever tournament got him into it) cringe back when he was new to it, so I wonder if this also got picked up by his JP/CN clippers. It was fun to see the comments championing him as someone who'd speak his mind without fear of backlash.

RPR has the right mindset that many streamers don't have. You just have to ignore the haters. You will always have haters, and they will never like you or be your fan. So don't bother about them, and keep doing your own thing. Even if that thing itself can turn your fans into haters, but if that's the case, were they really your fans in the first place?

Have you ever seen Hololive fans lose it? The only reason they don't seem as bad as Niji's at first is because the company polices their behavior and collabs so as not to set off the overwhelming insanity lurking within their ranks. They barely let their male and female branches interact outside of EN, and even they are pretty limited. Like people who were friends before Cover (the "HoloSalt" collab group, for instance). And they still go fucking mental when *that* happens. Omg, when Altare made Kronii flustered ONE time during their first collab, mildly challenging her like "put up or shut up" kind of thing, they had a complete meltdown.

I hate how Uki fans treat him and others (as stated on the video, some "fans" fucking shit on straight males that interact with him), but thanks goodness he is open about being gay (Pomu is bi, Finana is bi, Fulgur is bi, Scarle is ace, Maria is bi, Vox is bi, Aia is gay, these are all admitted on stream, who cares, they don't bring this up all the time anyway). If you know who Magni is, he is openly and proudly bisexual in his other identity, idk why, in over a year, he (Magni) hasn't spoken about it.

And.. it's also rpr-related. Just a bg, i am currently a long term Kenzoku, been a member for over 2 years and Towa is definitely one of my 2 Kami-oshis, the other being Aqua. You guys can see where this is going..
Aqua was the one that introduced me to Apex. Towa was the one that introduced me to tourneys and the JP scene. I generally harbor no feelings when she collabs with guys and does her thing. But one western Apex pro decided one day to watch the CR Cup, and all of a sudden, he's having collabs with Towa, interacting with her and stuff.
It ticked me off back then.. Why didn't I get my chance, this guy just hopped in and got all the glory. I realized I was fkin parasocial. I didn't openly interact with chat like this guy in the clip did but it was a feeling that irked me for some reason that didn't occur when she interact with other male streamers.
I kinda talked to a friend about this and I had a change of perspective and mindset and I even started to love myself more. I don't even realise how bigoted I was back then with that mentality and looking back at it now, I didn't exactly hurt anyone or made anyone feel weird but I personally felt like fkin loser and idk, it's just nice to share this story once in a while, especially funny how the Lam bigot could've been me

Which is true to some extend, but not entirely. Some streamers already have their own managers and staff dealing with what they can and cannot do, they dont need random person from chat telling them that plus several more.

He just wants to be friends with them. It’s not that hard to comprehend.
Literally a couple months back, majority of NIJIEN went to Japan to keep their minds off of the cancelled concert that they were going to do. Shu met Minase, and someone brought up how Shoto would’ve loved to meet Minase. Guess what happened? This literally caused a bunch of Shoto haters(Luxiem fans) to harass the person who made the comment, and they started saying nasty shit and untrue drama that never occurred between Luxiem and Shoto. I hope all these weirdos are eventually weeded out of all communities, especially the Niji fandom. Those losers arent doing anyone any favors.

The worst part is the same "We must protecc our oshi!" parasocials are the ones who often harm their oshis the most. By being demanding and bitching about things that their oshi wanted to do but the parasocials don't want them to (ie collabs and certain projects, or taking breaks). Like, BE FOR REAL, your oshi needs protection from YOUR DELUSIONAL ASS.

Rpr is my now spirit streamer, I just don't really get these toxic mindset of these crazy fans, but hey. If I just wanna enjoy watching without minding any of those drama bs, turning off the live chat. Like, bro let the streamers decide for themselves, we literally have no control over them, we're all supporters, not friends or even in a relationship with any of them. We're all just viewers, if the streamer does state that they value viewers like how they value their friends, then that's good. But even so, never speak for them for they have their own choices, own life, and is not needed of protection as rpr stated. Interacting with other people is better for them be it opposite/same/other gender, for it is a way to create bonds. We're fans for fck sake, we want them happy, not afraid, traumatized, in constant fear whenever they want to stream something with someone. I'd rather watch Vtubers who collabs with those they want to collab whilst having fun, rather than watch them fake their happiness so fans won't go out their way and possibly mess something up for their streamers.

It’s just parasocial obsessive people in general. It’s not just vtubers. For example, celebrities, idols. People often forget they’re regular people too just because they give them content or they are put in a pedestal that they didn’t ask for. But it’s specially bad for vtubers because they’re behind an avatar, a model.
But with all of the mentioned, obsessive fans want to control everything from the content creator. Who they’re allowed to hang out with, how they talk to people, heck, even what they think or what they can say. At the end of the day, they best you can do is just ignore it and move on. Like, we don’t even know how old is the person behind the keyboard. Are they kids? Teenagers?

    • @akira8393
      @akira8393 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

id say most vtubers are adults because if they're telling me that they might be kids. you're just giving the fans reasons by that point.
