When author R.R.Martin discussed selling the rights to HBO, there's the story he told showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss over dinner: OK, I'll sell it, if you tell me it's Jon Snow's mother.
That video is good, but there's better ones out there, like Alt Shift X's video on it. Only problem is spoilers because he goes really deep into the histories and there might be some minor spoilers for both HotD as well as the last few GoT seasons.
@@domenicgalata1470 I love that channel so much and I'm a little biased towards it just because of how well he explains everything and how thorough those videos are. He can turn a skeptic into a believer with certain theories lol. He also helps people who might not understand certain aspects of the story to have a better grasp on everything. They're so detailed. The R+L=J video that all the reactors watch is great too, though.
We need to talk about y'alls reactions to the Jon Snow reveal.... It was amazing! I laughed so much at y'all and what's really interesting is y'all actually got it when a lot of people didn't. This was a blast. I really enjoyed y'alls reactions and commentary.
@@animeloverz67 Ned couldn't risk her blurting it out, it would have meant Jon's death. I feel sorry for both Ned and Catelyn, but I think Ned was right.
This is meant only as theory crafting, not as a spoiler as to what may or may not have happened. At this point in the series, I low-key wanted the white walkers to succeed. I wanted an apocalypse to show how all the petty fights over power, and a chair, led to their destruction because not enough of them took the real threat seriously. The night king sitting on the throne in a frozen world was such a satisfying thought, lol.
"I have never been more pumped going into the next season"....Id lower those expectations by a few thousand percent. An she askes a great question. "I dont know how they are gonna wrap up in two seasons every single character"....yeah about that....
Ned sacrificed his honor to save his beloved sister's child from Robert's wrath. Because she made him promise. He called Jon his own, and claimed his as a Snow, staining his honor, to protect him. Also, think about Barristan's descriptions of Rhaegar. Good hearted, kind, liked singing, didn't like killing. not the attributes of a kidnapper and rapist.
I honestly love you all ever since breaking bad series. This game of thrones journey with you so far has been AMAZING and I got to see a new member of the team both adult and baby but also amazing content. Thank you.
Fun easter egg....Lyanna Mormont, the one to speak for Jon immediately after the reveal, was named after his mother. In a way, his mother was sorta still looking after him.
Not sure if this was already mentioned, but Arya's revenge on Walder Frey was some good payoff--remember back when Bran told the story of the Rat King right before he met Sam and Gilly..
Go back and watch the pilot episode, and the second one, with the scenes of Ned and Robert in the crypt, the goodbye scene with Ned and Jon and the scene of Ned and Robert having lunch in the fields. 😮
Maester Eamon, who was in Castle Black with John, is the elder brother of John's great-grandfather, Daenerys is John's aunt. John is the last male Targaryen.
Arya didn't necessarily kill the girl whose face she was wearing. She could have taken it from the House of Black and White, or come across a dead or dying girl on her journey. She kills people on her list, or in self-defence, but we've not seen her kill purely for gain I don't think, she has a moral code.
I love this episode because it proved me right. I knew Ned didn't cheat on his wife. He rather his wife think that then betray his sister promise. He loved Jon and protected him. It’s really no secret that George RR Martin’s books only go to season 5, but what’s lost on most is he oversaw the story from there on out. Do people really think he would write a colossal book series only to have someone else write the ending? It was his story and it was told.
This secret had very subtle clues throughout the books and George RR Martin only allowed them to adapt his books into this series because they correctly answered the question “who is Jon’s mother.”

Martin did give a basic outline of the storylines, so I would say that he did give this information to D&D. Them guessing the parentage of Jon is why he was okay with them doing the show.
Please don't. Don't let an unofficial GoT video take anything away from what may or may not be confirmed in the series anyway. There is literally no point in watching these videos beforehand, other than to spoil you for what may or may not be coming.
starks on top she said.. they definitely deserve to lose.. Dany has the rightful claim to the throne, her dad was king and her family has sit on the throne for 300 years.. baratheon, stark, lannister all worked together to usurpe the throne… no matter how anyone tries to distract from it.. the simple truth is Dany should be queen because Jon doesnt want it “just like Aemon”.. and those 3 families should be all but slaughtered for attemping to usurpe the throne.. a very simple thing everyone there instantly knows, it is automatic, same as u knowing a simple yes/no question instantly
"Legally" he doesn't have any claim to the throne as an "unclaimed bastard." (Not that that means much in Westeros, since what is legal is very subjective.) But technically, the Baratheon brothers had a better claim as legitimate Targ descendents through their grandmother than Jon has as an illegitimate son. Unless someone - usually has to be a ruling monarch - officially legitimizes him. Then he can enter the line of succession and would have a strong claim - even with Robert's right of conquest because Jon now would probably be Robert's closest living male relative (unless someone legitimizes Gendry. But you would still run into the issues that Jon was born to 2 parents of nobility and Gendry's mother was...not. Jon was educated with a Lord's family. And Gendry was...not. While that matters less in today's world, it would likely matter to these classist lords. Especially since, unlike Jon, Gendry doesn't seem to have natural leadership skills that classist people with power would recognize and support.) That said, if anyone gathers enough support from enough powerful lords with powerful armies, they can toss the line of succession out the window and stick anyone on the throne. Or, like has happened in the past, the most powerful lords of Westeros can have a council to decide who they're going to put on the Throne. And Jon's parentage _could_ be brought either as an argument in favor of or against him. Like with anything, it depends on persuading enough people to support or oppose him.
@@jcompton8507 He does have a claim to the throne, from the show canon, we all watch the show and we all know how it ends, and we know everything that’s happened, but without spoiling it for some people that haven’t seen it if we’re talking TV cannon. Because Westeros has made it very clear they no longer want any more Targaryen‘s at this point they don’t want any more dragons, so he’s the only one that has a claim to the throne even though Daenerys has one by of her father, it is heavily rejected due to her being the daughter of a king who drove the kingdom into war and due to her gender. The whole kingdom knows who Jon Snow is, and since many in the realm, believe that he is to be the bastard son of Ned Stark they would pretty much rather take him as king. If we are talking book lore, then it should be Young Griff, and not Jon Snow.
It should be obvious to anybody who's been paying attention to the show since the beginning. I've seen reactors who don't pay close attention and think Ned was hooking up with his sister. I find that annoying because it's obvious those people can't retain information. These guys have been paying attention and figured it out without the other guy having to tell them first
I think the friend off camera actually did a great job keeping things spoiler free! They kind of spell it out by Lyanna begging Ned not to tell Robert because he’d kill her baby if he knew and that confirms that it’s not Robert’s and now we know it’s not Ned’s either so that just leaves one person. I think the reactors didn’t need help understanding that, they got there on their own.
It wasn't really a spoiler. They figured out on their own that Jon is a Targ. They just couldn't remember the details about who "kidnapped and raped" Lyanna.
I'm just glad none of them thought Ned boom boomed his sister.
