One thing I loved about this movie was the theme of the erasure of history, exemplified here by the text summarizing the previous movies fading while Caesar’s name is the last thing seen before the funeral, signifying his acts and teachings have been lost while his name all that remains of his legacy.
Yeah and as we saw throughout the film, only a small handful of Apes knew who he was and what he did for them since it was only in that part of this world where Caesar and his troop reside while apes across the planet were also getting smarter by the sick humans they must’ve encountered like Bad Ape without the acknowledgment of his existence. In other words, no one never knew anything about him until ages later.
Plus the track that plays during this scene is obviously “Paradise Found” from War, but Caesar’s leitmotif is completely absent. He’s already being forgotten, right then and there
The perfect way to transition from the Original trilogy to the new one. Literally closes the door on the original trilogy for real, and opens it for the new one

Yes, to think that Rocket was once an alpha male who then turned into his right-hand man while Maurice became a teacher. Knowing that Raka was the only one of the Order who passed on his teachings, it’s a good bet that all of those members must’ve been orangutans, as well.

What i love about this opening is that, while you should definitely watch the first three parts of this saga as its a fantastic trilogy of movies, the film brilliantly and beautifully makes it so that the newcomers of the series dont have to watch the other films to understand whats going on, as the opening text and the scene of the funeral itself really hit home that Caeser was someone of importance, that he meant the world to these Apes that he sacrificed his life to save, and he effectively became a Messiah to all Ape kind. Regardless of if his teachings got lost in time or not.
