This is my first winter in AB, but I feel like having had winter experience in some northern US states in the past really helps. Thanks for the tips. Only tip I’d add, is get yourself a vehicle with a remote starter. That helps so much right now for us
People tend to forget to equip their cars with essentials in the Winter (in case you get stuck or your car breaks down). You should have blankets, comforters, walking boots/shoes, change of clothing including socks, hats, underwear, food, water, medicine, tools, etc. A bag of sand is also helpful if your tires get stuck. You will be happy to have these items if you breakdown in the Winter!
I would highly recommend that you, not just your child, have more protection around your neck. A parka with a hood can provide this protection when you are not inside a car. Mitts are warmer than gloves. Balaclavas or scarves around your face will protect your face from frostbite if you are exposed to the cold for any length of time. Layers are important - I notice you have a few. A moisture wicking pair of long johns and long sleeved undershirt will also prevent a chill as the moisture from your body sweat can chill you even faster. Your videos are highly informative!
Take showers/bathe at night and just sponge off in the morning. If you Shower/bathe before going into the cold while your pores are open, (can result in damage to your respiratory system). I speak from experience because I refused to listen to my Elders when I was young. A wool hat and wool double socks are also a must! Wool cost more but it is worth it.
Demz you guys can buy leggings from just cozy when they are having $10 sales. Buy the solid colors and you as male can wear them under your pants. Nats can buy whatever colours she love.
@@DiAndersons No Demz. Bro please put to get winter tires in the video. Please get some Michelin Snow Ice X SUV. They are THE best tires. Please do not play with the snow. The car will slip and is at a great risk of accident. Snow tires provide great traction and feels like you are driving in summer with no snow. Little known fact that some car insurance companies can decline claims if you dont have them on. They hide it in the fine print. All season tires are basically for summer 👍
@@DiAndersons Np. Car insurance companies ask people if they have snow tires on and offer a discount, if the person says they have it but didnt install and got into and accident. The insurance company will try to deny the claim or give a very reduced payout. Also, especially with where you live. If you travel out to somewhere like BC; some of those roads require MANDATORY snow tires. Failure to have them and being in an accident is begging for problems with the car insurance company. I know you already know that Canada is a country where nobody will tell you, but expect you to know, even when there is an issue. Cant be unprepared here. Its so unforgiving. Literally everything novel that I do, or places I travel to, I have to do intense research to stay ahead. Can be exhausting, but we are Buffalo Soldiers.
You have to let some air into your home at the expense of losing some of the heat, because you don't want to be breathing in bad recycled air. Also you have to take into consideration the chance of Carbon monoxide poisoning. This is the time of year to install/change batteries in Fire Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Sorry, I am just an old mother hen with time and info!
