Does this paddle have the same pop as the V7? I love my V7, I have great control with it. But I also need a new paddle and I'm thinking of going with the V7 again, as I can definately feel the difference between the V7 and the Prism.
@ true. I chatted with someone in the business and he was a firm believer in weight at the point of impact being a major contributor for paddle playability. This shows there is definitely some thing to that, but perimeter weighting has also been proven to be effective as well.
For the Saga Prism SH, how does the sweet spot size compare to that of the PaddleTek Bantam ALW-C 14? How much bigger or smaller is it than the PaddleTek? On the Saga Prism SH, how dramatic/steep is the power output drop off from the sweet spot to hitting it just outside of the sweet spot? Does lead tape dramatically increase the size of the sweet spot? Compared to the original Ronbus R1.16, how does the pop of the Saga Prism SH compare? Is it safe to say that the spin on both the original Ronbus R1.16 and the Saga Prism SH are both very comparable and in the same tier?
Thanks Chris, that was an excellent review. I was curious, since you had spent some time with the Vatic Pro Flash (not the Prism), how you would compare these to the new Saga Flash SH? I have the Pro Flash now and I was wondering what I should expect from the Saga in comparison. Thanks for your thoughts.
I like the Saga more than the original Flash by a good margin. The original Flash is stiffer, but didn't necessarily feel *that* much more poppy or powerful than the Saga. The feel off of the face was more enjoyable from the Saga to me. The Saga kind of feels like if the Prism and original Flash combined together, but leaning closer to the Prism in terms of feel off of the face. I don't htink you could call one strictly better than another, but for my personal tastes, Saga was better than the original.
@PickleballStudio so glad you mentioned the J2K...could use your expert, real world opinion for my exact situation. I love my J2K but want more power. The Saga is "more", but doesn't seem drastically different. I don't want to spend $130 to find out its just a little bit better. Should I just hit the gym and keep the J2K?
It would be VERY HELPFUL if you’d put up SEVERAL well-known & recommended paddles on the continuum! I’m on the Shogun 6 months and looking for a notch or two MORE POWER! Thanks So MUCH!!!😊
For the follow up nobody asked for, I love the swing weight of the Jelly Bean. I tried adding precut lead to the throat, but I didn’t like it as much and removed it before the end of the first game. Maybe if Vatic releases a wide body version, but until then I’m sticking with 11,624 jelly beans.
Do you think the saga flash SH is better for doubles, when compared to the LH? I do use two hand backhands but don’t seem to have issues with shorter handles. Currently using the Apollo Spartus. I’ve been wanting something a little stronger but not too poppy.
I don't think one is necessarily better than another. All dependent on player preferences for swing weight. If you can handle the higher swing weight, LH is great.
Hey Chris, what’s your weight setup on the J2k? I have one 16mm and to be honest, I don’t like it. I’m just wondering if maybe some weight would improve it.
The price is also turbo charged !! From $100 to $150! 😂 Honestly, the $150 price point doesn’t make sense, the J2k is all court, Gen 2 construction and sells for $155!! The construction of Saga is the same as Prism and use less material/ plastic to build the core given the size of the honeycomb is bigger lol…
Disagree with Chris, there is a lot going on here with this paddle. These feel different from the other paddles by Vatic. They took a big swing with the Oni and they're trying to innovate within their lineup. You can't trash them for the Oni and then be upset they didn't do enough with the Saga.
I’m not sure how this is what you took away from the review. I said the paddle is great, and that I could even switch to it. But on paper, a 10mm cell and a “mystery” layer is not going to excite someone without hitting it. There was no trashing for lack of innovation. I think you’re misreading it pretty hard.
Yeah this comment is not at all what I heard in this video what I heard: It doesn’t *seem* exciting “on paper” but is a top paddle in its category, “very interesting”.
I love the samurai look, looks like you about chop off some heads on the court🤣
Hi Chris, do you still use the Spartus Olympys as one of your main paddles?
Does this paddle have the same pop as the V7? I love my V7, I have great control with it. But I also need a new paddle and I'm thinking of going with the V7 again, as I can definately feel the difference between the V7 and the Prism.
Did the HESACORE on the Flash SH have a big difference in play? Is the middle sheet material being patented?
That cell wall looks thick. Feels about right for the weight.
Makes for a very "solid" feel on impact. Face gathers lots of debris though.

I was thinking the same thing. I’m guessing that it can’t be better than a Gen2 thermoformed 🤓😎

@@PickleballStudiodo you like it more than the Prism Flash?
@@PickleballStudio Thanks a lot for your opinion on this. Got a Saga in the mail to me now, with your discount code.
@@PickleballStudio
How does compare to the Vatic pro itself? Should it last longer because it isn’t thermoformed?
Yes, technically it should.
Right, to me this paddle sounds a lot more similar to the Pro (orange logo) than the Prism?

It says unibody construction on the website, but it’s not thermoformed?
To answer my own question for anyone else who’s confused- John Kew talked about this and it’s half-thermoformed essentially
Would love a standard shape SAGA, nice Melin and Stack fit
It would be VERY HELPFUL if you’d put up SEVERAL well-known & recommended paddles on the continuum!

Anyone added weight/lead and where?
Any thoughts on how this Saga compares to the Prism and Flash hybrids?
I just got a Jelly Bean to replace my Prism, but this is making me think the Saga is a better upgrade. So many good paddles out there!
Depends if you care about weight and swing weight
I doubt it. But lead tape will make ANY paddle play differently.

@@Nolzie16The throat may have been too low. Either 9 and 3 or even 8 and 4 may be better suited.
@ I did 4 and 8. Maybe that’s not called the throat.
6:30 daaaamn slider....
Waiting for vatic to make standard/wide body shape!

@ Understandable, thanks for your feedback! I usually weight my paddles up a good bit, may just need to be reserved for this paddle.
The samurai looks happy to see me
Can you put 2 hands on SH version if needed at the net?
I can. I’m sure it depends on hand size and your own comfort level
Wow ,why huge TW drop for LH Flash
I was thinking the same thing.
The face is smaller due to the longer handle thus reducing the twist weight.
Because it's longer and narrower, it's gonna lose some TW by default
That green hat moving spots in the back almost gave me a stroke…👀
Adrian Peterson casually watching in the background @6:30

I dont like my j2ti either…
Chris, I swear I didn’t copy your notes…
But seriously our reviews are strikingly similar! (Except yours has wayyy higher production quality)

They have to make the Omni paddle that busted money back somehow
According to you, Paddletek TKO and ESQ should be $100 or less because they’re gen1.
He-hey! “What’s up guys!”
