    If Amrik can fix Chris Olson’s counters I’ll make him the head coach of all of my clinics, and I’ll be the assistant

      You’re going to have to define “fixed”. I’ll stop reviewing paddles for 6 months to make this happen. 😂

    I've also recently discovered that staying low isn't just useful at the kitchen. If you have trouble returning low hard hit serves, the simple act of lowering your viewpoint down closer to the level of the ball makes it sooo much easier to handle.

    • @LeanneSchultz-x3y
      @LeanneSchultz-x3y 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thirds are easier too if you get low

    • @johnp1
      @johnp1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Right on. This is why tennis pros lower their bobies when returning first serves.

      You need to stay low for every shot but overheads. Makes the game way easier

      I’ve also found this to be very true. Bad knees makes it more challenging, but rewarding when it can done.

    This is one of the best pb vids I've watched. Seems like 90% of instructional vids focus on the same things... Just different YT'ers saying the same stuff. This one presented very specific actions to take and the reason behind those actions as well what to look for to initiate the counter. 👍🏾

  • @chasyboy1
    @chasyboy1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    Chris, look at the shape of his 'hand' at the finish after contact and compare that to yours. You have a twist, almost slice motion through contact vs. block and push. Because of that, you feel the need to make a swing, as it's the only way for you to come 'over' the ball to hit down. It would be interesting if you took a video of yourself going between a reset and a counter. See of the wrist movement is similar and if your 'finish' shape is optimal for accuracy and pace. Great job...thanks for sharing. Sent it to over 30 people already!

    Chris, your approach to improvement in this video is excellent. I especially like the counter drill where they feed you a slower ball to work on form and the idea of putting a water bottle behind your feet to help prevent movement. Thanks for sharing! It's given me some ideas for improving my own counters.

      Came back and watched this a second time. I’ve noticed the harder coach hits the ball the better his volley is not just because of his legs being bent but because his brain has less time to think. Making his swing much more compact which creates less room for error.

    Thanks Chris and Amrik for a great video/teaching tool! I'm very new to Pickleball, and I know I make many of the same mistakes, as well as others. Now I understand the imortance of bending my knees and really getting low, leaning forward and being ready, and not leaning back. Can't wait to try the corrections on the court! Also, the explanation of Ben Johns movement taking dinks on court was very helpful. I'm in Cuenca, Ecuador and don't have all the resources available, that we're used to in the US. There are quite a few hard core picklers here, but we have to broom, sweep, and groom (blow leaves) our 3 courts every day.
