We also harken unto the comedic, musical and entertainment geniuses of our childhood era, dear Fibbster-of-Mann. This scene keeps and will always keep bringing us back many years and decades and centuries later.
Melody Sanger yes i was eating Thanksgiving dinner with my family when I hear the freighted passing of Mr Wilson. he's an uncle everyone shared with him. I love him through and through whrn he wS on Howard Stern. pure funked up funny.
FANTASTIC - thank you for putting this up - my husband and I were howling with laughter - back when comedy was reallllllllly funny - always loved our Flip - and Harry - nice looking - well - HANDSOME man! :) GREAT JOB!
Such wonderful comedy. My partner and I were discussing Bugs Bunny and M*A*S*H which would be banned today due because of the anti-drag queen sentiment and "protect our children" crusade. That's too bad; We grew up during really great times. It's a shame that only now, the older generation is concerned about what we were watching as children growing up but it's 50 years too late. We are not damaged or confused by watching any of this. We had fun!!! We enjoyed it and had no issues.
Now dear darling world ... DDW ... Just like 'Sanford and Son' slash 'Steptoe and Son', 'Are You Being Served' slash 'art thou being attended unto', 'Three's Company' (or if you prefer, "Two's Company"!) 'In Loving Memory', 'The Jeffersons', 'Eight Is Enough', 'Good Times', 'Different Strokes', 'Empire Road', 'Fawlty Towers', 'The Desmonds', 'Mind Your Language', 'Webster' etc etc etc etc .....This one of those shows that Uncle grew up on. A shout out unto all those involved in the afore mentioned productions and, of course, FLIP WILSON himself!!!! And another shout out unto Harry Belafonte (with a 'look' that somewhat pre-dates and 'announces' that of Barack Obama ... who sang a duet with Miriam Makeba !!! This is the kind of family-friendly entertainment where both audience and cast have fun and just enjoy the various PORTRAYALS ... underline PORTRAYALS ...!!!... And once more, underline, if not highlight ... PORTRAYALS ...!!! ...of these crazy characters whom we have not forgotten til this very day! Yes, the cast might be very far from the characters they are PORTRAYING ... UNDERLINE "PORTRAYING" BECAUSE MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE GIFT TO "PORTRAY" THAT WHICH THEY ARE NOT AND SIMULTANEOUSLY CAUSE US ALL TO 'FEEL' OR 'GIGGLE' OR BOTH !!! ... but it is also so much fun and so family friendly that as an audience, we can't help but go along with them !!! I CAN BET MY BOTTOM DOLLAR SLASH POUND STERLING SLASH KWACHA SLASH RAND SLASH SLASH NAIRA SLAH EURO SLASH PESOS SLASH DINAR SLASH RUBLES SLASH RUPEES SLASH FRANCS SLASH YEN SLASH KENYAN SHILLINGS SLASH PULA ETC ETC ETC ...THAT THE CREATORS, PRODUCERS AND DIRECTORS WERE ALSO FEELING 'GOOD EMOTIONS' AND DANCING AS THEY WATCHED AND RECORDED THIS !!! Dear publisher .'Deszo Nyari' ... Thank you so much for keeping this good entertainment alive !!! We loveth thee, non threateningly, dear Deszo !!!
people mag should've made Mr. belafonte the sexiest man alive. hope you made your great confidence for children with AIDS. you are a real leader of endurance we need you now Mr belafonte. jah bless.
He truly is iconic from being in the civil rights movement to being friends with Fidel Castro and (further) influencing Black influence and freedoms in Cuba Harry is someone to be remembered. If you get the chance read is autobiography. A proud product of JAMAICA
Amen, dear Jay-of-King. Matilda was sort of a a Carribean version of Esther Rolle playing Flo in 'Good Times'. Both loveable characters who are loyal-to-and-protective-over their fellas.
Severan Vallery, it wasn't rap, it was a variation on a goofy hit song by Harry Nillson called "Coconut", which was a hit in 1971, not long before this episode of "The Flip Wilson Show" was on the air. th-cam.com/video/TsSuueEGQSM/w-d-xo.html
