You did an amazing job transforming these dressers! Your talent really shines through. Thanks for sharing it with us-I always look forward to your videos!
Looks great. Might I suggest Rubio Monocoat with a pre-color, to maintain a lighter looks instead of a darker orange or yellow look. Buuut the paint wash did turn out great.
It turned out beautiful! I have a bookcase with very similar material/color to your dresser… I’ve been considering a paint wash color - just didn’t know which one. This video helped me lean towards a lighter color like the one you did. Paint washed furniture has its own set of specifics. I’m glad you made a very fine detailed video, the finished product is very well made. Thanks for sharing this content.
It was a Behr paint I wish I knew what color it was. I got it in the mess up paint section at Home Depot and the color was covered in paint. I have used several different cream white colored paints for a paint wash and I don’t have a go to yet.
Hi Sammy, absolutely beautiful results! Thank you for sharing with your easy instructions and friendly personality. I have to admit, I was very skeptical about your plan for the end results because I'm a hobbiest woodworker who prefers closer to natural wood colors for final results. But you really went with it and had amazing results!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! The piece is so well made! I love that it has no handles! I would have kept it for myself as well... I love the footage of your adorable dog! Thanks so much for sharing.
Wow Sammy, you are extremely talented. It is lovely to watch you transform this outdated orange dresser in a beautiful, refreshed piece for your home. Well done🎉
Really gorgeous! Simple, clean lines! Simple elegance! Totally validates why you’d want to keep it! Thank you for so much technical info! I was telling Mimi that I needed that kind of information, from you, to do an old china cabinet. But, you helped a lot with these instructions! So grateful!
The neck fan ! I wear one too when I work on furniture !! So cool : ) Great minds think alike. I really like this, & your other makeovers... flip on !!
Well done, you worked hard and made it much better. As you advance your skill I bet you will find yourself wanting more as some who comment. Yes still a little stuck in the past but I’m sure that you know that. The black headboard contrast is great. With that consider only leaving the top white and the rest black with bronze handles on the doors. Just a thought.
Your attention to detail always ends up in a gorgeous end result! You should do a video on your workout routine! Lol I can get those furniture results, but my arm and shoulder routine seems to be lacking compared to your beautifully toned muscles. 😅
Lovely job. That piece will hold a ton of stuff. I have a white stain I've been wanting to try on an yellowish piece, but honestly, paint washes seem to do the job so much better, and less risk if it goes blotchy.
Yes I totally agree, that’s why I love paint washing so much. It’s fairly easy and a little more forgiving especially if you mist a bit of water before applying the paint wash.
Just found and subscribed to your channel.😅 You did a wonderful job transforming this dresser. Your tip to spray the furniture with water before the white wash is revolutionary! Thank you, I never thought of doing that, and it makes perfect sense! 😊
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I used to not use water and it made such a big difference in the finish and overall result when I started using it. It’s so much more forgiving 👌🏼
I don’t unfortunately I would really love to try some other options in the future though. The Festool sander was a gift to me or else I don’t think I would have it yet, but gosh it is so handy! I will say this if you are wanting something square, there are cheaper options I know Ryobi has one, and you can purchase foam sanding pads on Amazon to get over rounded curved areas. You can also find the pads for round sanders. I know they have dupes of the surf prep sander that is similar, but I have yet to give them a try. Hope this helped 😁
I wish I knew what color it was. I got it from the mess up paint section at Home Depot and it doesn’t have a label on it. It’s a very creamy white, almost a little tan I would say.
New to the channel. I like the way you explain the “why” and not just the “how”. I have a question: is there a reason you didn’t do a chemical strip instead of sanding? Is that personal preference? I’ve never done anything like this and want to but am just unsure of myself. Thanks for posting!
I would say it’s totally personal preference, I would rather not deal with the chemicals and the mess it makes and would much rather sand. I recently just used a carbide scraper for the first time on a piece and definitely would have used it on this if I had it then!
Both of them are actually orbital sanders. Orbital isn’t about the shape it’s the movement the sander makes. The festool sander is the (FESTOOL RTS 400 REQ Orbital Sander)
Goals. I'm trying to buy my 1st piece, looked at two today. One $60 real wood but a little "rikety" other real wood, nice but $150. Chickened out, didn't buy either. Any advice on biting the bullet ha?
Exciting! I would keep your eye out for a good quality piece, (it’s sounds like you are) and I would shoot for something smaller not super large. Price really depends on your market and how much you’re willing to spend, but I would try to keep it low. The first piece of furniture I ever bought was a cheap pressed wood, tiny tv stand that I got for $40, and it ended up going to the dump lol. 😂 So don’t get discouraged it sounds like you’re on the right track, you got this!
I wish I knew the name of this paint but I got it from the mess up section at Home Depot and it didn’t have the name on it. It’s a Behr paint, it’s very off white and almost a little tan.
Is ist posssible to give a link to your marketplace-Account as it would be really interesting to See how you describe, how you take photos etc. for Them to actually get sold.
Yeah great idea to link it. I’ll have it in the description from now on but here is a direct 🔗 facebook.com/marketplace/profile/100001919543294/?ref=permalink&mibextid=6ojiHh 😉
I’m still confused. I thought Festool random orbital sanders have attachments with different shape pads. I’m planning to buy one of those and hope to get rid of my usual “sander plus vacuum” contraption 😂
Festool has several different sanders, round and square. You purchase the sander and then you can buy different thicknesses and grit sanding pads for it, but it would be the same shape as the sander. The dust extractor is amazing though I highly recommend! One it saves your lungs and it keeps your work space dust free, I love mine 😊 the next thing I will be buying from Festool is a round orbital sander to replace my ryobi sander.
I’ve never seen you use a carbide scraper. It really reduces sanding time. Have you tried one? I’m just asking because I’ve watched quite a few of your videos and you seem to spend a lot of time sanding lol
It would be helpful to list what paint and color you use in each project. The dresser looks great!
Yes I will do that from now on. This one I don’t know the name of or I would tell you. The label is rubbed off on the container.
You did an amazing job transforming these dressers! Your talent really shines through. Thanks for sharing it with us-I always look forward to your videos!
Thank you so much!
Hi Sammy, beautifully done. I'm not surprised you kept this dresser. It's gorgeous.
Thank you so much! I am loving it, I’m so glad I finally found a dresser for my bedroom 😊
I just found your channel and I love it! You do fantastic work!

Looks great. Might I suggest Rubio Monocoat with a pre-color, to maintain a lighter looks instead of a darker orange or yellow look. Buuut the paint wash did turn out great.
Yeah I have done some research on that, good idea. I may try that in the future 😊
Beautiful color tone for the oak!
Thank you so much! 😊

Oh-my-goodness, I would have kept it, too. What a beautiful piece you created. Not only beautiful, but superb quality. You should be very proud.
Thank you so much! I have been on the lookout for a new dresser for myself and it was so worth the wait to find this one. 😊
@@DIYWithSammy, you’re welcome.
Turned out beautiful! Great tutorial, picked up a few great tips on paint washing that may help me.
Glad it was helpful! I have really bean into paint washing recently. It seems to be very desirable at the moment.

Excellent tutorial liked 👍
Thank you so much! So glad to hear! 😁
Absolutely stunning transformation, i love oak furniture, looks beautiful in your room.
Thanks so much! 😊 I do too, it’s one of my favorites next to dark moody furniture.
The neck fan ! I wear one too when I work on furniture !! So cool : ) Great minds think alike. I really like this, & your other makeovers... flip on !!
That neck fan is a life saver when it’s hot outside! Thank you for watching☺️

Wondering if you have a comparative recommendation for the festool, being it's a higher ticketed item.

I think it's pretty and you did a great job! However, it needs hardware, IMO, even though it had none to begin with.
You know I thought about it. What hardware would you choose for it? Like maybe gold pulls?
@@DIYWithSammy
I like it without hardware. All pieces don’t need to look the same.
Leave as is .no pulls .its fab the way it is
I agree I ended up leaving it as is and won’t add any, but I did think about it.

What a snot! Really nice work on the dresser
