I made my own out of 6 inch Z man stick baits. I use the fattest part of the bait disgarding the rest and get three out of each stick bait. I chose the Z man because it’s elastic. Almost every time the bait goes up on your line and you don’t lose it when catching a fish. It’s easy to thread jig skirting through it. You have to add a small weight. I have used it one time to test and I caught 10 to 12 fish including a couple 3 to 4 pounders which is decent size for our area. I use them in a tournament today on a very pressured small lake and got second on that pond by .16 of a pound… 14:29 three or four of the fish that made it to scales came on the hairy rubber is what I call it. Lol. I think it’s just something they haven’t seen. It falls pretty slow. Almost every bite came on the initial fall.

Matt, Like what Hank said when you said do you want to quit with 4 minutes to go & he said "I want to fish till the end"!! A True Fisherman!!!Steve Rogers has a video out on this cube & has a DIY one made from a piece of stick bait & old skirts from either spinnerbaits, jigs, etc. I did make a few and had a few hits on it but didn't bring a fish in. Felt like they were hanging onto the skirted material. I'll give it another go. I used it as a wacky rig and no weight and it got down & I was on a river. Stay Safe & God Bless!!!

  • @OtherEndofLine

I made my own as well like someone else here, mine is small like 1~1.5 cm. I cut off the head of my old swimbaits which are missing tails and such, threaded those rubber skirt materials and it works really well. I caught so many good size of panfishes and bass with them. Just like other comments - every bite came on the initial slow fall, or 1st a few twitches. :) I didn't know that the original ones were this big.

I have tried to post to this video several times. I think it may be because I have tried to link to one of my social media accounts where I posted pictures and a full explanation of how I made my baits. I made my own version of this lure in an ultra lite size by cutting 3" stick baits into 1.75 inch sections and threading old rubber skirt pieces from some old spinner baits through the plastic. I did this mostly because I couldn't get bedding bluegill to hit anything. It worked very well for me. 2nd cast I was into fish and I caught the biggest bass I've ever hooked in this particular pond. 4.5 - 5 pounder. Of course it hit the one day this year I didn't bring a scale. It's been my highest producing bait in this pond for the past 2 weeks.

I’ve absolutely been catching them on hairy dice a drop shot (but it’s super easy to make your own with a big sewing needle). Here’s a tip for smallmouth types: cut up a pack of Maxscent Jerk Shads. You get 3 dice per bait-so 30 dice per pack. Very economical!

I make these also. 3/4" square. I'm also working on a smaller cube for crappie. The problem with the OSP dice is that they don't put enough skirting in the cube. When you put more skirting in the cube, you can almost cut a profile from the skirts. Or, you can make a puff cube. The price they charge for these things is ridiculous. I have several cube molds. 1 cup of plastic to 1/4 salt. I take my time and thread the jig skirting thru the cube. They do work, but there is a time and place.

Check out Steve Rogers Outdoors. He has a great vid on making your own version of these dice. But instead of a cube ,he cuts a short piece of a senko & threads skirt material through it. Looks better than a dice in my opinion & way way way cheaper! More natural being a round body instead of a cube. I made a few with different sized worms including sencos, trick worms for different sizes. I'm not willing to pay that much for a dice bait exspecialy when you can make something that looks more natural. I'm sure they catch fish. So do a lot of baits.. Also he does ton of underwater footage that's excellent in showing bass relationship to habitat!!!

For the best results, rig the OSP Saikoro "Dice" Rubber Non-Salt Soft Bait on a small drop shot or wacky hook with no sinker, let it fall into the bass’s line of sight, and when you have their attention twitch the lure to get them to react!" The import fees make it not worth trying for Americans, imo.. I bet in Japan they're much cheaper- all JDM tackle is marked up a ton in the US domestic market.
I'd throw it on a tungsten Ned head if I got em free

the lure i throw has to somewhat at least catch me too. I'd rather catch 1 fish on a swim jig than 10 on that dice

I've already saved money cause I never bit. A chunk of worm, a lrg needle and skirt material is way far cheeper. A hand tied bug is better in my book.

Whoever made those "dice" really rolled the dice to see if fishermen would bite. I guess sadly, some did.

  • @MJ_Bass

It’s a weird bait. I guess the concept is a small profile that puts off vibrations of a bigger bait, but until I start seeing senko type results i don’t think it’d be worth it.
