That filter is just the prefilter to the pump. The real filter is built inside the top plastic housing assembly and should be replaced... The amount of grime, rocks, and overall dirt must be someone dumping crap into your gas tank. I don't think gas pumps can spew rocks into it.
Cool vid man, there really is a dyi vid for everything lol. Only got 41k miles on my rav but it sat in nyc for years. Runs like shit and dont want to buy a new one.
Peter Finn the Car Doctor so you’re saying my Honda with 110k km is totally fine and replacing fuel filter w/o reason is bit overkill? It is recommended by Honda. Guess it’s just another way to make money. To my understanding your theory is that in tank filter is good for a lifetime?
@@qualifierone8899 I don't think it's a lifetime filter, I think it should be replaced, if you skip it you might have clogged injectors in the future, I think it's a maintenance item just like air filter and oil filter.
Hey Peter, does the Toyota Yaris (year 2000) have the same kind of sand collection box in the fuel pump? Can you clean the Yaris fuel filter/pump same way?
I'm trying to fix my car that is smelling gas in the cabin. And you confuse me with the fuel pump sand. When you replace the fuel filter??? I need to replace the fuel filter.
Thanks Peter. Its my first to see this stuff changed. I have a good question. What is the significance in changing the fuel filter? I heard from others that fuel filter is designed for a lifetime use.
You knowing fuel and engine/area oil is one of the most required cleanest areas of the car. Why didn't you vacuumed the area prior to removing the fuel line, fule cover, and fuel pump/filter? Dirt and material can get in and block the filter and fuel pump. You are not the cleanest Car Doctor that works on cars and I hope you only work on your own car and not others. Is like being a doctor NOT scrubbing before an operation, a possible infection after the surgery same goes on working on the cars (the area must be clean). Contamination can cause more problems. This is one reason I work on my own car and not rely on others due to these careless mechanics.
Hi Peter. Very bad procedure...1. you did not remove the fuel fuse. 2. you was hitting metal to metal to remove the filter cap ( lucky you did not make a spark ) 3. Very bad fuel in your country. After all at least you show us how to change the filter in the car. Be careful next time. Thanks
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor hi I have 03 civic some leak is coming from timing belt area. Recently I replaced all the belts that includes serpentine 2 belts, tensioner, waterpump, crankshaft still very small leak. You can't see on the ground but when you lift the car look under it you can see a tiny drop...also tranny is leaking fluid too. One guy told me it might be the rear main seal leak ...plz help
Great work Peter! Especially the vacuum cleaning of the dusties!
