There's nowhere in scripture where it states or is implied that the spirit and soul are "sinful". Sin is only In the Flesh and that's it. Romans 7:18 is a key verse where Paul says, "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing." This highlights that sin dwells in the flesh. Also, Romans 8:10 mentions, "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." This implies that sin is associated with the body (flesh), while the spirit is made alive through Christ.
