I'm every bit as enthralled with the bench, stand, tool making videos as the motorcycle ones. They take me back to the wishful days of my youth, when out in the muddy alley my most sophisticated engine "stand" was a piece of cardboard, my tools were the OEM wrenches in the bike's tool pouch. Watching these really does warm my heart existentially, remembering my dreams as a young 'un lol
Oh that brings back fond memories too, those "underseat" tool pouches were what i started with too, then grew slowly with a few hand-me-downs from family and friends..and of course fixing problems in the back garden in the rain after work if i wanted to go on a club run over the weekend.. Happy days indeed sir.. Take care and keep safe, and have a great weekend.. D&Px
I'm a mechanical engineer by trade and that is some of the best mig welding I've seen.......... I've seen professional Tig welders that can't produce welds that clean........ Impressed
I laugh sometimes when people ask me, "Where can I buy like you've got?" Answer is you don't "buy" it, you "build" it. Great video. Like the way you kept it brief, and kept it moving without a lot of 'chatter'. Thanks.
Boy Howdy! That must be the world's fastest band saw! I'll also must say your welding skills have come a long long way since the first time I saw you tappity tack, tappity tack, tappity tack some part or another. Kudos
Universal fit other engines? Have you just watched the video from Habu? He made a plug and fit engine cradle along those lines... there is some genius work out there aye?!
@@Moonfleet41 spent a few days down in your neck of the woods this week. Just outside Wellow with the wife and little one. Will definitely be back down on the bike and will happily meet up for a well overdue catch up with you and P if you're both about. Stunning part of the world and one I haven't explored since I was a kid myself
Heath Robinson eat your heart out. Substantial piece of ironmongery there Del, should keep that motor where you want it. I'm thinking inner cases and pots black with fin edges rubbed off ...😛. We will see eh?...👍
There’s something special about seeing you do these ingenious fabrications, Del! The production work on this vid is over the top. Congrats to both of you! Hope you both have a great weekend there, my friends. 🏍👍🏍
Why thank you most kindly for those kind words of encouragement Sir... it's a simple Heavy Duty stand for keeping the engine safe from falling over and makes it easier to move about using the winch... So I'd be happy to make you one for the MIL if you need it.. wrangling awkward lumps about is never easy right ! Have a Blessed Sunday both, and stay safe. D&Pxx
Whoa . . . stick a length of five inch S/S pipe across the top & you've got a totally unique Egli 1200 Sportster! - but the tank won't fit, so an old fuel proof colostomy bag is probably your best bet as a temporary measure. Have a great w/e : )xx
You're right there; had the joy (?) of one of his for a week or two while I sorted the carbs out, (three old Dellortos that I don't think had ever met before - a right job!) Thankfully it was a fairly stock 3C motor & not fully Jota-ised, so reasonably easy to set up afterwards. Still scared me to death the first time we took the tank off though - "I just been riding that - need the loo!". . "How fast?" says Klug, "Don't ask!" says I. It rode & felt like a typical proddy racer, rock hard & fairly quick once you were motoring on, but the sight of that bloody headstock gave me residual nightmares of 'galloping snaposity' . . . it was fine tho', just scary to think about while riding, especially over rough level crossings. Have fun & buy Penny more chocolate : )
Definitely a task I haven’t tackled yet = welding. Haha. Congratulations on the progress as always and always a good day when you leave the shop having transformed raw materials into something functional!
Thanks brother👍, nice handy piece of kit for posterity...it'll look posh once ive finished it, but it's functional for now.! Have a great weekend and keep safe aye.. D&Pxx
Thanks Marc, not every weld goes perfectly, but more do than don't these days, so maybe that's something! I don't get enough practice really to improve as much as I'd want, but it never falls apart and so am happy with that! Have a great, peaceful weekend buddy.
Why thank you kindly Sir, I don't get nearly enough practice to improve quickly, but these days I lay down more good welds than bad ones! Thaks for your kind words.
Lovely video as always, the editing flows so beautifully, it’s such a pleasure to watch, awesome stand there Del, absolutely loving this project, excited to see what changes you make to the frame. Have a lovely weekend both of you enjoy the weather and a ride if you can, take care both, Luke x
Thank you so much for your kind words Luke, we're glad you enjoyed it.. im restoring a few basic parts first, getting thew wheels out for new rims and spokes, and then the rebuild can begin.. No making drastic frame changes, just enough to create the new generic style..! Have a great weekend too and keep safe sir.. D&Pxx
Nice result for a rewarding little project! Hope you're getting out to ride, often! I've been away from internet for awhile (working in 'the bush'), and will be again, soon, but it's good to see the status of your current project! Best to you both...ride safe!
Welcome back Allen, always good to hear from you... it's only just getting sunny and warmer here! Glad you're enjoying the videos still and wishing you well with your job adventures! Stay safe, D&Px
Solid as a rock Del. Great welding skills and will definitely look the part when painted. Sure It will come in useful for future projects to. A pleasure to watch as always. Have a wonderful weekend both. 🇸🇪🇬🇧🥳👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome engine stand Delboy. I was thinking if something should happen to the bikes oem frame, you have a great start on making a new one. It would take an act of God to break that thing!
Thank you kindly Sir, it's been a while since I've done any repetitive welding, so I'm a little rusty, but I do want to practice and improve the quality of my welds as at some point, I do want to build a frame, but I don't think I'm up to the standard yet... it's certainly a motivation and I will do it some day! With a tube bender and jig you can make some crazy creations...
Great video Del. Definitely a heavy duty engine stand and properly done. I’m still hoping for an all blacked out engine and a cafe racer design. Have a great weekend.
Beautiful job Del. I always enjoyed fabbing odd ball brackets and such back when I worked on the big trucks. My creations were right at home under a truck while yours would be better placed in a museum. 😁 Lovin" this series ! Thank you Del and Penney for another killer video. 👍👍
Thank you so much for your kind words Rick, no weld is perfect but these days I do more good ones than bad ones, practice, practice aye? Have a great weekend and keep safe, D&Px

Thank you kindly Sir, by now means a welder, but I join stuff together and it stays put, so I'm happy with that! Have a fabulous weekend there and keep safe.
Thanks for the vid, I'm going to make one, Maybe the front mount will have top slits like the back to just drop the in with the bolt already in place. Good helpful channels help me keep motivated for my channel. #joebobsgarage
Hey buddy, im so glad that the video was able to provide some inspiration and encouragement, and i like your idea of open slots at the front too, good thinking. Checked out your channel and subscribed, good luck with your projects and have a peaceful weekend sir. !
Loves your videos, but why do use so much energy making a stand for the motor.. since most of the job you can do in the frame.. anyway great work 👍 Waiting for your next videos. Already got many tips from your videos 😀
I've said it once, I'll say it again, "You sir have skills!!!"" Looks great mate. Love doing that sort of stuff, how much to buy one compared to making it, any idea???
Thank Nick, there are some simple basic ones on the market, they seem to be about £75.. this cost me about £12 for the steel.! Thanks for your kind words as always.

Looks good, throw some castors on and you could roll it round the bench if you wanted 😜
That was the plan, believe it or not, and I thought we had some in a cupboard somewhere, but seemingly not!! ... so they're have to be added later!
Quality, I wish you were my neighbour!!
Great work again.I adapted an office chair frame as my engine stand. Definitely makes life easier.
Bloody hell I never even thought of doing that with an engine before! Brilliantly engineered mate
Cheers buddy!
