I have the K3 for about a year and I quite like it other than the edge of the aluminum plate extending past the bottom plastic frame, creating a right angled edge that's kinda sharp to the touch
I own the MX Keys Mini right now, but I'm really liking how these keyboards in the video listed. It's cool how many options there are now for compact keyboards at different price points.
I had the Mx Mechanical, but I actually switched to the Mx Keys, much preferred.
I preordered the Nuphy Airv2, hoping that it’s a better experience.
@@chrisAclaes can we get an update here? I just got my mx keys mini delivered today but a depend mentioned mechanical keyboards are better. Looked at some comparison videos and most of them say the mechanical ones are better, so what is your opinion? I have 30 days to return
hi, great review! :)
do you know if the nuphy air75 keycaps fits on the lofree flow keyboard?
Hey, great video, do you still recommend the shiftscreen for external monitor suoport ? my iPad Pro is from 2018, so i still have those black bars
great review! Thank you! wish u 1000000+ subscribers
Wow 🤩
Thank you for this great review! I've been trying to find a low profile, shine through PBT keycap, RGB mech keyboard and so appreciate you telling me about the Lofree (and comparing it to the Keychron K3)--but when I went to their website, it said they're only white backlit on the board and RGB for the side lights. The one thing I didn't hear you mention was the backlighting/shine through. Some of us are suckers for shiny letters and rainbow lights ;-)
Thanks for watching! I made other videos where I talked a bit about the backlights. Check it out too! 😊
Thank you very much!🤝 Your review was very helpful. I'm looking to buy a low profile backlit keyboard and your video helped me decide.
Glad I could help! I have other keyboards coming soon in my channel, check it out later!😊
Your voice is soothing to listen to, great video.
😊 thanks!
Can’t wait for Nuphy Air 75 v2 which is supposed to reduce typing lag and has 4000mah battery.
Me too! Got mine on preorder. I have the whole Halo series in both colours.
I might have a video review about it coming soon 😉 Stay tuned!
It's interesting how all of you have same same issue, but my V1 has absolutely 0 input lag (as far as I can tell) and also does not have the same springy noise as on the video. I'm incredibly satisfied with the keyboard (not with customer service).
Good for you! 👍🏼
Thanks for this comparison. It is very informative. I am very interested in the Lofree, are the keys backlit?
Yes. Just white backlights. Check out my other video th-cam.com/video/gHDqmarLn7E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pSKqd16fHceU-au6
i use a low profile Keychron K1 for years and it is still rocking firmly, i dropped it, bang it when my code has bugs, spill water on it... it just keep working without issue, Bluetooth works flawlessly among devices. Damn it is good and sturdy ;)
Probably impossible to test 3 months later. But, would be great to know which keyboards tell the Mac their battery level over Bluetooth. I have a Keychron K7 and it bugs me to no end that the battery level doesn’t show up in the battery widget along with mouse, earbuds and computer. Odd detail, but… good to know. Great review.
The main reason I chose the Keychron in the end, was the ger ISO layout. Wish Lofree and Nuphy offered ISO versions aswell... well someday I hope so.
is MX Mech Mini lower or Nuphy (including with the height of the keys)?
I just got Nuphy Air 75 v2, and I mistype too often. My previous keyboard was MX Keys mini
I love the typing sound of Lofree 😊
me too!😍
@@MindyC got one today, no compare but i think it's the best among my low profile, i had k3 v2, nuphy air 75m but nuphy air had good keycaps and typing angle ^^
👍🏼 typing sound is indeed really good on the Lofree flow! Now you have all these good keyboards to alternately use and enjoy! 😉
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Air75 V2.
I'm thinking on getting one for my Steam Deck, as that one has a 2.4GHz dongle & is low profile making it (hopefully) easier for me to carry. I personally use Bluetooth only as a backup, and will always prefer 2.4GHz receiver.
if you have a keyboard in mind, I'd love to hear it
Video on the Air75 v2 is in the works and coming soon! Stay tuned!
@@MindyC Staying tuned! Can you also quickly compare it to the competitors like in this video? And include information on how much it upgraded from v1?
thanks for the suggestion! I will try my best 😊
Same, I agree! I much prefer a wireless dongle to Bluetooth. But for some reason we seem to be in the rare minority, from what I've seen.
Bluetooth is so finicky and for those of us who use multiple laptops at the same docking station, leaving a dongle in the dock just makes for seamless switching between devices.
Still, to have the OPTION of a dongle receiver is great
I have the MX Mechanical Mini for PC/Mac. It comes in the darker color way, but it works flawlessly between my MacBook, Windows PC, and iPad. I really don’t know why they bothered making a Mac only version. They should have just offered the normal one in both colorways.
I tend to agree with you 😊
On the mechanical mini, ctrl alt delete works by additionally pressing the fn key (fn + delete deletes to the right direction instead of to the left just like on macOS) 🙂
Awesome! Thanks for the great tip!
You‘re welcome, thanks for the nice comparison video! 🙂
Have you try Lenovo Bluetooth Ultranav keyboard 2?
Honest and good video
I think it will be really good to compare K3 Pro to the rest rather than K3 (I assumed it is V2).
Yes, it’s the Keychron K3 V2.
very good !! but I will take the Keychron K3 bro
Good choice!😆
Lofree Flow would be perfec if it has QMK/VIA programmability
I heard that nuphy range does not come with British keyboard format, is this true? Will nuphy release a British keyboard at some point?
Probably not. I’m British but I just remap the keys on via so they’re more comfy and I can type £ :p
In Nuphy’s website doesn’t seem to show/offer the British layout. nuphy.com/products/air75-v2?sca_ref=4341716.8iGdvLoYbz
Very informative, and a VERY well crafted video👍🏻
Every time you do a “sound test” on a keyboard I find myself thinking that they need to make one that sounds like an IBM Selectric so that we baby boomers will have something that “sounds right!”
I think there are some mechanical keyboards that looks and sounds like those old keyboards 😊 thanks for watching my videos! Appreciate it!
@@MindyC true, but the Selectrics were amazingly veriseral! Every time that golf ball hit the paper there was a real physical impact that you could both hear and feel. In the early 1970s 85% of keyboards were on Selectrics of one sort or another.
One more thing (like Saturday morning cartoons, Sunday morning comic pages, Mad Magazine, juke boxes, and Blue light specials) that most Millenials will get to experience. Of course they won't have to deal with 300 baud per second modems on dial-up networks either. I guess it all evens out in the end!
Keychron has an updated K3 now, the K3 Pro.
I thought I saw both the K3 and K3 Pro sold in Keychron’s website at the same time, but maybe I’m wrong.
You can still buy both.@@MindyC
Unsure if I want to watch the video, since you're using V1 of the Nuphy
Don't you think replacing nuphy brown switches with aloe or cowberry switches will make it sound like Lofree flow? Thank you 😊
I have the Aloe switches on the other Nuphy Air60 v2 and it does not sound close to Lofree 😆 checkout my video and you can see/hear what I mean 😉
@MindyC Oh, that's sad. Well, I will just take your words for it since you have them and can hear the real sounds. Thank you 😊
I think it’s the body/case of the keyboard that needs to be modified in order to sound like Lofree, like adding more padding inside the Nuphy to have better sound absorption. If you know how to do mod a keyboard, might be worth the try 😉
@MindyC thank you for your point of view, I will order nuphy and then see what to do or just use it if it's ok, but surely nuphy is attractive, so attractive, something about it ... maybe colors... dunno 😅😅😊
Anyway, thank you once again
if lofree had better light setup not the one that shines thru white switches and maybe some other colors integrated and would have 2.4ghz i would get it. For now i guess nuphy will have to do
K3 keycaps are also thin, rattly and low quality. ABS (rather than PBT) keycaps as well so they'll develop a fingerprint shine with use...
I guess you’re not a fan of the K3.😉What keyboard do you like?
@MindyC Personally, I don't think there's a perfect low profile keyboard. Within the last 12 months, I've owned the following:
1. Logitech MX Mech Mini. Good feature set and superb power management, but typing action is poor (clackety switches, lack of definition, flimsy keycaps etc)
2. Keychron K3. Worst mech keyboard I've ever owned. The optical switches were particularly bad. Horrendous bluetooth sleep/wake/power management etc. Poor typing action, low quality feel etc.
3. Lofree Flow. Nice typing action but the brown switches feel 'heavy' in terms of actuation, bottoming out etc. Sound improves vastly when you add O rings and a sound dampening mat. Better typing action than the Nuphy v1 but I do want to try the linear switches on the Lofree to see if they produce a smoother typing action. Keyboard backlight is useless but that's due to Lofree's bizarre choice of keycaps which aren't shine through. If you fit the Nuphy Air 75 shine through keycaps onto the Lofree, the key illumination is perfect (the downside is that the shine through keycaps are ABS so they'll develop fingerprint shine over time). The lack of any sort of key mapping functionality on the Lofree is also really annoying (F-keys do not default to media keys for example and you can't map keys through MS Power Toys as it doesn't recognise the Fn key). They also need to improve their after sales support as they haven't replied to email about wanting to buy an extra set of switches and keycaps....
(4. Nuphy Air 75 v2. Thinking about ordering this but it sounds really rattly based on the videos that I've seen including your video!).
Overall, I think if you mixed the Lofree's gasket/POM/mounting system with the Nuphy V2's key mapping, switch/keycap options, and customer support, you'd probably have a 9/10 keyboard...
No numpad aaah!!
I've owned all of them except the Nuphy. They all have pros and cons. K3 was the worst. Lowfree had the best typing action but terrible back-light and media key functionality. Logitech great features, software and battery but mediocre type action and cheapo rattly key caps.
thanks for sharing!
Which one to choose lofree or mx?
The problem with most of the mechanical keyboards is that they are not available with ISO layout which considerably limits choices...
Can you show more side on views to see how flat they are?
I showed that in the video 😉
K3 power management and wake from sleep is pure garbage. Makes the keyboard unusable in wireless mode.
Yeah battery of the K3 is not the best. I can use it wireless on my home office desk so I can charge it when it runs out of battery.
kinda biased a little bit, this author apparently clings to Keychron brand, which ironically scored the least positive reviews of all four
😮 why, which one do you prefer over the Keychron K3?
