    12:52 AA could have included hinges to the rear engine cover, I hate loose parts, tend to forget when I'm handling my models and if dropped the paint might chip off.

    I got one of these recently and watched this to see how to open the doors as it’s expensive to break and don’t move easily. At the start you show the “key” for the door but not use the key when opening the doors. Did you do something off camera to unlock the doors?

  • @frictionless64
    @frictionless64 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I tend to lean towards AA and GT Spirit solely because the price of their models are easier to stomach over the higher end brands. Spending 450-500 USD on a model is way too much for me, and even more with the currency exchange.
    These things are mostly mass produced, and there are bound to be a couple (hundred) cars that slip through the inspection process with flaws that tarnish the overall review of the model. I just wish they slowed down the number of cars they release and spend more time on going back to the basics

    • @ROBSMODELCARS
      @ROBSMODELCARS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree that AUTOart should spend more time and make these models as good as the older AUTOart models, which were great, I have a lot of them. But as you know, I have the MR versions as well, and if you compare the two of them, the AUTOart falls well short, even if it does open.

    Rob, I always love your videos and you are the ultimate collector. But, I feel you were a bit "hard" on AutoArt, a company that has consistently made exceptionally fine models. The main feature being that wheels, steering, doors, hoods all function at a reasonable price as opposed to those "sealed" models that can't be rolled posed or displayed as anything but a static car, and you have to be independently wealthy to own!
    I love my AutoArts and thank goodness they still make cars that you can open steer and roll! To me they are still the best. And you're still the best collector I know.......or wish I knew.

    • @ROBSMODELCARS
      @ROBSMODELCARS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can only review the model that I received, the paint is thin on some of the edges and the gloss carbon is wrong on this model, can't deny that. But as I said, overall the model is good, just not US$230 good.

    • @diegovillavicencio3172
      @diegovillavicencio3172 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I never understood why some collectors will say an AA model is good just because there's a resin version out there for double the price. You shouldn't compare this to another manufacturer to say if the model is actually good or not. The model can be bad even if there's an even worse resin version out there. Just because it's cheaper than a resin model doesn't mean it's actually good for its retail price. Rob's review is on point specially on the negative sides

  • @fl118l4
    @fl118l4 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for the unbiased review Rob! You have helped me in deciding whether or not to keep my MR Centenario roadster and in the end I chose to keep it. No need to buy an AA version of this car. AA has been using too much cheap looking plastic texture carbon fiber instead of decal. I appreciate your honest and in depth opinion. You rock! Keep them coming!

    Thanks for the honest review, was tempted to buy this exact AA model, but after seeing this video I'm going to skip this. It's just underwhelming in every aspect, left alone the only plus in getting a composite model which is opening features. But 250ish USD can buy a much better model.

    • @knightofsg
      @knightofsg 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which brand would be better than AA's? I got thCepheus blue from AA and it feels so cheap and light! I would like to exchange it with a 'real' diecast version. Instead of a MR resin one, I'll pick a Maisto! lol Not very detailed but at least it's metal!

    • @saulsmerdelli9114
      @saulsmerdelli9114 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@knightofsg no other option than Maisto if you're looking for a metal version in 1:18 at the moment! I ended up buying the yellow AA with a good discount, and I agree it's so light and feels cheap and flimsy. Also AA's plastic molded carbon fiber is just a joke.

      ROBS MODEL CARS Guess the aa we know and love has changed to a money hungry business sadly. Many great companies have made this transition sadly such as EA( Electric Arts, video game company) Apple with their over priced phones, and much more. And I predict that we will have to learn to live with it

      I have coupe and roadster MR with correct taillights. Even if the AA looks nice, the MR is way better imo. I'm still going to get an AA version but I can't agree with you that it's better than MR besides the opening parts

    • @diegovillavicencio3172
      @diegovillavicencio3172 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UUU U resin models are not always better. I did a very detailed comparison of the Huracan Super Trofeo between AA vs LookSmart. The AA was miles ahead better. However, in this case, the MR Centenario is miles ahead better than AA imo

    • @diegovillavicencio3172
      @diegovillavicencio3172 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @UUU U in that case, I also have the Murcielago SV by MR and also AA. The AA is for sure miles ahead better as well, however that was one of the first MR models in 1/18 scale, they have improved a lot since then

    • @countachXXI
      @countachXXI 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @UUU U los autos de resina son una reverenda MIERDA, es una pena que las mierdas de resina hayan desplazado a los modelos diecast, cuando estos últimos representan más fielmente a un auto. Mientras las resinas sólo son "esculturas" del modelo en cuestión y son aburridas al no abrir nada. MUERAN LAS RESINAS!!!

  • @garywood683

    Great review as always Rob, do feel a little that opening models and resin, almost seem like different collectors markets now, and do think AA are only going to head downwards from this point.But..BBR and MR prices are also getting unreachable, so AA realise this I think.

    • @ROBSMODELCARS
      @ROBSMODELCARS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They probably are different markets now in reality. High end resins model are way more detailed and better paint etc, some collectors think an AUTOart is better just because it opens. But as you know, my channel is all about high end models, so I have to compare this AUTOart model to the MR versions. I think that AA have cut a lot of corners, their models just are NOT as good as their older diecast models, that's a fact. But in reality, they will continue to fill the gap between Maisto and MR, I think that is their market.

      @@devandrasimanjuntak1646 If you have the budget go for it, for me Maisto is "good enough" to not concider Autoart version. And Autoart version cost 4x than Maisto. Better to spend that king of money for Mclaren P1 GTR by Almost Real.

    Great review. I've seen few "composite" Autoart models in person and they're a huge let down. I bought my last new autoart which is the plain white R390 fully opening diecast model. The R390 is a masterpiece and everything plastic after it is just a massive disappointment.

    Si bien es cierto que los modelos de autoart ya son absurdamente caros y que sus detalles y controles de calidad son cada vez menores; aún siguen siendo la mejor alternativa para aquellos que JAMÁS compraremos una resina; y es que no se puede hablar de "accuracy" (exactitud), en un modelo que solo se puede ver y no habré absolutamente nada, incluso un maisto o un bburago tendrá más "acuraccy" que una resina que no es más que una escultura del auto en cuestión, mientras que un diecast es un modelo que se trata de apegar al modelo real. Una resina es bonita, bien terminada, bien detallada, pero jamás tendrá ese "feeling" de descubrimiento, de "aventura", de abrir los compartimentos y ver los interiores, el motor, etc. De ver como luce el auto con puertas abiertas, etc. Incluso en modelos diecast hay autos que abren relativamente poco y pueden resultar algo aburridos, mientras que hay reproducciones que abren todo, quemacocos, guantera, asientos incluso y son muy divertidas de observar. Creo que es claro que aquellos que están contentos con una resina son otra clase de coleccionistas que quienes no las aceptamos. Quienes están contentos solo con la apariencia exterior y quienes queremos ver más allá. Insisto, eso no objeta las deficiencias de los actuales autoart, pero no nos redirige a muchos coleccionistas al aburrido y muy caro mundo de las resinas.
