Wow!! Love it - what a brilliant video. Just on with something similar, much much smaller though 🙈 building an 8ft deep x 6ft x 4ft pool just to do tread water exercise in. Your video has given us confidence as we’re about to line it like yours. Brilliant! Thank you so much 😊
@@dannyarcher hi Danny, I bought the paint from TA Paints they are in Wolverhampton 01902 428482 xx We haven’t gone down the fibreglass route now though, we’ve built it from artistes breeze blocks, rendering and then we’re applying the 2 part epoxy paint, once the render is bone dry. I’m pretty sure you can use chlorinated rubberised paint (available from TA Paints), talk to them and they’ll advice which is best 😊
@@Vikt68 thanks Rachel. Would love to see the finished item. Can u let me know how it goes please? Funnily enough in the last few weeks I thought blocks and rendering would be better as well as I saw a great polymer based paint in topps tiles but it wasn’t cheap.
Hi Jon, I contacted the fiberglass supplier and they calculated for me how much I would need for 2 layers of fiberglass. I ended up needing an extra gallon though.
How is the pool holding up? Do you have to winter it with snow/ice in your area?) Anything you would have done different? Was that fibreglass worth it or a liner ? Looks great! How is it holding up to chemicals, etc? Love the concept
Hi, it's still absolutely perfect. We had hectic flooding in April this year and it held up to that. Our winters are very mild so I don't do anything different. It is fiberglass with the blue pool coat over that. Pool coat is just like a blue resin. I can't think of anything that I'd do differently. I use one small balanced chlorine Floater a month. Thank you
@@OneHeartMission Thanks! We were looking into pools for this past year, but pushed it off until next year...we were sorta discussing some wood pool options, but never thought of your idea. How long did it take you?
@@tmodd2032 it took me 2 weeks solid. Had a little help here and there but otherwise just worked by myself. I'd love to see pics if you do go for it! The reason that I chose this option was because of the low cost.
Hi Jason, thank you. I did coat the back of the plywood with bitumen to stop that, but I also think that if it does rot, just the fiberglass will still be strong enough.
@@OneHeartMission yeah I think I’m just more concerned about carpenter ants and termites that would feed on the plywood. I think there may be a way to treat it however. In any case you did a great job on the pool. I’m already thinking of how to design mine. Good on you for showing us all how simple this could be!
Question how many feet above ground is it ? Or did you fill it on the back ?thinking of doing this but mine would have to be 15 inches above ground, also what are the cables for?
It is about 20 inches above ground. I worked through the space left by every second board and filled the back. You can see the spaces at about 1:03 on the video. The wires are for strength. All the best. I would love to see pics if you do it😊
Living in South Africa the currency is Rands. It cost me about R13000-00. This didn't include the pump which I already had. It did include the pipes and skimmer.
Hi Jamisha, the size of this pool is 3,6 meters in diameter. I used 22mm plywood. Quite easy to calculate the amount. 70 liters of resin. 60 square meters of chopped strand fiberglass (to allow for 2 layers) 10 liters of blue pool coat. If you go to a pool supplier shop, they should be able to tell you what you need too. www.compositesandgeneral.co.za/imsitemap.html This is the place that I used. On the back of all the boards, I used creosote covering painted on. Hope this helps
I put creosote on the outside of all the wood. I also think that if it does fall apart the fiberglass will be strong enough to hold it. Anyway, over 2 years now and it's still perfect!

great videos! Ill try to replicate something similar
Hi!
Beautiful job. Wondering about how it’s holding up 2 years later? Please let me know, looking to start my new pool soon! Thanks so much!
It's still perfect after 2 and a half years 👍🏼
@@OneHeartMission awesome! Thanks so much for the reply! Dug yesterday. Hoping to start making the form this week!
Did you use polyester or epoxy?

amazing, great job!!
Awesome idea
I have been trying to plan my build. I am curious how much resin I would need. I would probably have to buy in bulk in USA..

do you know need i special permit for building pool on my backyard ?

Did you use gelcoat?
It's like gel coat but called pool coat. Looks and smells like blue resin. You mix it with hardener. I put on 3 coats
