great vid - I have a few SK round heads from the 1950's that I don't want to warranty because the new ones just ain't the same. A rebuild kit didn't help the skipping. Bet a little love with a file will get them running good again.
Did u replace the spring that pushes on the paw, sometimes those wear out, and cause skipping also.. ya, the needle file next time, for sure. Good video!!
Good stuff👍..that’s a cool looking MAC. Never seen the inside of their roundheads. With those 5 teeth and double pawls it looks like a beast of a ratchet
Subbed! I love the name for one, I need to fix a ratchet as well. Thank you for the insight! I am looking at honing down the bering detents on a tear drop ratchets shifter pawl and adding a double spring under the bering to try to mine to work. Any thoughts?
So, this means that a rebuild kit wouldn't work. I would think that most would assume they need the rebuild kit, without taking apart the ratchet first.
.Buy new pawls...or...It's got a lifetime warranty..get a replacement...or..breakout the precision files and clean it up good ..it should be worth it....👍
Poor material design- thinking the pawl teeth should have been made softer than the ratchet body to facilitate easier refurbishment, but I guess like most things it’s designed to fail lol
THANK YOU! I LITERALLY DID ALL THE ABOVE AND THEN CAME TO TH-cam AND THIS GAVE ME THE CONFIDENCE TO CONTINUE!
Did that with a S-K 1/4" ratchet the other day it was rusted solid filed it and put a rebuild kit in it works great
Taking off that spring ring is a pain in the ass same thing with getting it back in. Looking for a way to get it off without damage.

Worth a go. Good to have seen inside anyway!

I stretch them out one time and then get a rebuild kit the next time I see the tool truck.
That ratchet looks like somebody's go to ratchet for a few decades!

I think you have a good idea. Too bad the throw away mentality generations don't want to spend a little time to salvage great tools.

I turned it off at 2:15 ... because you ramble on and on about different rachet stuff and not on actual fix.
👍👍👍👍👍
Crack..........⚾️
"Grand slam"!!
I would not use it because of safety reason. You will bust your knuckles.
