+The Angry Charmeleon - There are way too many Pokémon that Ash really should have evolved. Aside from appeal to kids because the starter evolutions are 'cute', the show runners don't want Ash to succeed in becoming a Pokémon master since they believe that his character is pretty much complete. In the Anime, it seems pretty clear that you don't "catch" Legendary Pokemon, they let you catch them. Remember the second movie, where it took a guy with a floating battleship to catch the three Legendary birds? It's a far cry from the games, where they just stand still as you throw Pokeball after Pokeball at them. Plus, most of them have important duties that are far more important than just petty sport, so... I think it would be interesting, though, if Ash _was_ permitted to catch one or more of the Legendaries he encountered, but doesn't use them much for fear of seeming like, well, Tobias. This one fanfiction I'm reading, for example, had the three Legendary beasts essentially challenge Ash to a battle to see if he was worthy of catching them, and if he won, he could. Aside from being a nice way to translate over the concept of roaming Legendaries from the game, it would've also significantly changed the dynamic of the Johto series, instead of it just being the more of the same that it, well, kinda was.

Actually Squirtle was shown in multiple occasions that he is afraid of his final evolution form so this might explain why he didnt evolve also fun fact the writers were originally intended for both boldore,snivy and oshawott to evolve but the ideas were scrapped because 1)Gigalith was extremely hard to animate 2)it had something to do with the unaired TP vs TR episodes
I don't think they were lazy to animate gigalith..it is just an excuse. If ash has gigalith, Servine, Emboar/Samurott, he is guaranteed to win the Unova league. But no. Since Unfezant is his only fuly evolve pokemon in his team...he was set to lose from the start.

To answer that question: all of them. (Except maybe Pikachu because it's the franchise mascot and all.) I don't understand people who don't evolve their teams all the way up whenever possible. Don't they want to be competitively viable? Or even just get through a playthrough? The only reason I can see someone not fully evolving a Pokemon is if they hate the design of the fully evolved form. For instance, I'm perfectly happy with my Rhydon staying a Rhydon.
I don't know. Its all preference. I like my Rhyhorn being just a Rhyhorn, my Totodile being a Totodile, my Gible staying a Gible, my Doublade just as a Doublade, etc., etc. Its not that I don't like their future evolutions (except maybe Rhyperiors design) but I just like them the way they are and don't mind not evolving them. I'm not much of a competitive battler so I just have a Totodile with Ice Punch cuz I like the idea of a Totodile just punching something, and really you can finish a play through with unevolved Pokemon if you try hard enough plus it's more of a challenge per say. And actually I'm actually a fan of Little Cup battles so I guess I do like pre-evolutions more sometimes. I actually only recently started liking Sceptile, I used to prefer Grovyle. Same thing with Pikachu until we got Alolan Raichu. Its all just strange preference. But there's kind of no reason in the anime. I mean Krabby evolved into Kingler after 1 battle, so Scraggy and Gible should definitely have evolved.

I would rather have that Totodile evolve once rather than twice because 1. I'm pretty sure Totodile has bitten Ash's head multiple times, I would like to see that continue and that it hurts Ash to the point that he learns his Croconaw not to do it anymore. 2. Tododile's cheary personality and its dance moves wouldn't cross over well in to Feraligar I think
That sounds pretty cool. As Totodile evolves, so does his dancing style. It would take some time to grow on me, but it could work. And maybe he could incorporate some dance moves into his fighting style.

I'm positive that this will definitely never happen, but if they somehow decided to make Ash age into a teenager, I'd like Pikachu to evolve into Raichu too around that time to give off the feeling that they're growing together as a trainer and his pokemon companion
Well, it's not like Ash actively chose not to evolve them, he didn't give them an Everstone or anything. And in at least some cases, it was because that Pokemon specifically didn't want to evolve for various reasons, which I think it actually makes Ash a better character for listening to them and not forcing them to evolve against their will like Damian or Paul or the like probably would.
I hope that when sinnoh remakes come out they decide to do a season dedicated to their battle frontier. Ash can bring his lucario with him cuz it’s a gen 4 Pokémon and has gotta way too much screen time to just be left at oaks lab after galar, and also bring back his gible like he did with phanpy. However, they should definitely evolve it into garchomp because gabite would just be a massive disappointment to fans
Honestly I think it's all about the slight aggressive nature or look to most of the evolutionz. It looks good for the image to have the starter versions. And I definitely think it's about the story line mentioned in the squirtle squad situation

OMG THANK YOU! As a huge garchomp fan, it really pissed me off that ash didn't evolve gible. I disagree that it should stay as a gabite though. Ash fully evolved goomy so I don't see why he can't fully evolve gible. And plus, come on, Ash needs as much power as he can get. But yeah, ash not evolving gible was one of the most frustrating things in the anime.
God this topic always gets me annoyed for one reason. Unlike the games where the player has 100% of the say when a pokemon evolves in the anime if unless they evolve by any other method but raising them The trainer has 0 say. Remember when Bulbasaur did everything not to evolve? This means that as I pointed out Pokemon have a massive say when they evolve.
What I hate about these videos are that ash don't chose whether his Pokemon evolve. It is simply a power boost while the Pokemon contains certain emotions. For example: In ash's battle versus kukui torracat evolves because it's emotions are off the hook. It is also against it's very rival incineroar. It gains that power boost it needs when it evolves.
Ash focused Pignite more on Fire & Krookodile more on Ground (mainly Dig), Stone Edge, & Dragon Claw. Before Hawlucha, Scraggy was Ash''s 1st focused Fighting type Pokemon

In the case of Butterfree and Lapras, I think it was definitely the right thing to do, letting them follow their hearts (In Lapras' case, he wasn't much of a battler anyway, so not much was lost on that front). Right there with you on Primeape and ESPECIALLY Pidgeot, cause he promised to come back. A trainer leaving a faithful Pokemon in a forest, promising to come back but never actually doing so? Where have I heard that before?
The problem with Ash's Snivy is that it was underused on Ash's part, and it never warmed up on Snivy's side. It was shown to be a cunning Pokémon that used of some subterfuge like Attract, and that just isn't Ash's style. And Snivy was super closed, to the point where we don't even know what its deal was with its original trainer it supposedly abandoned at one point out of its own volition, or if that is even the case. In that regard I totally understand why it didn't evolve, and I would actually have liked it better if it was Cilan's Pokémon (Seriously, Dweeble and Stunfisk on the Grass Type Master? Makes less sense than Brock, that at least wanted to be a breeder.). That would allow Ash to keep Leavanny on his team on a more permanent basis. What I DON'T understand is why Oshawott doesn't. Sure we had other characters with Samurotts and Dewotts, but it is one of Ash's best explored Pokémon. We actually get small arcs in the plot about him overcoming fear and becoming a better warrior far more than Tepig or any other of the Pokémon that actually evolved did. It would also be a bit of a refreshing point, because up until then, he never evolved a water starter, and hasn't seen an evolved water pokémon since Kingler!
I remember as a kid watching the episode where Charmander evolved into Charmeleon and expecting to see the other 2 evolve soon after. Then Charmeleon evolved again and Bulbasaur turned it down. Then I assumed they were going with that other idea and just evolving Squirtle to Wartortle and doing the one of each stage idea. I still can't believe they didn't do that, it would've made way more sense and then Pokemon Trainer has a team that makes more sense in Smash.
He did have a fully evolved water type and it was krabby remember the episode when misty and ash went to a water tournament ash was battling another trainer and krabby evolved in the middle of the battle
I cite Turtwig's evolution into Grotle as why that would be a bad idea. Up until then, his whole fighting style had revolved around his speed and agility, but as a much bulkier Grotle, he wasn't able to utilize it at all, and racked up a lot of losses as a result. The same would probably happen to Pikachu if he ever evolved.
Squirtle could evolve to Wartortle but can't evolve to Blastoise because Gary already has Blastoise and it would not make sense that they would have one pokemon the same
I misread the title of this video, I read it as "How Ash from Pokemon should have evolved" which in my opinion, would be a worthwhile subject to discuss, in terms of character progression and general story progression compared to the "restart" he seems to get every new season.

Actually Squirtle was shown in multiple occasions that he is afraid of his final evolution form so this might explain why he didnt evolve also fun fact the writers were originally intended for both boldore,snivy and oshawott to evolve but the ideas were scrapped because 1)Gigalith was extremely hard to animate 2)it had something to do with the unaired TP vs TR episodes

I don't think they were lazy to animate gigalith..it is just an excuse. If ash has gigalith, Servine, Emboar/Samurott, he is guaranteed to win the Unova league. But no. Since Unfezant is his only fuly evolve pokemon in his team...he was set to lose from the start.

To answer that question: all of them. (Except maybe Pikachu because it's the franchise mascot and all.) I don't understand people who don't evolve their teams all the way up whenever possible. Don't they want to be competitively viable? Or even just get through a playthrough? The only reason I can see someone not fully evolving a Pokemon is if they hate the design of the fully evolved form. For instance, I'm perfectly happy with my Rhydon staying a Rhydon.
I don't know. Its all preference. I like my Rhyhorn being just a Rhyhorn, my Totodile being a Totodile, my Gible staying a Gible, my Doublade just as a Doublade, etc., etc. Its not that I don't like their future evolutions (except maybe Rhyperiors design) but I just like them the way they are and don't mind not evolving them. I'm not much of a competitive battler so I just have a Totodile with Ice Punch cuz I like the idea of a Totodile just punching something, and really you can finish a play through with unevolved Pokemon if you try hard enough plus it's more of a challenge per say. And actually I'm actually a fan of Little Cup battles so I guess I do like pre-evolutions more sometimes. I actually only recently started liking Sceptile, I used to prefer Grovyle. Same thing with Pikachu until we got Alolan Raichu. Its all just strange preference. But there's kind of no reason in the anime. I mean Krabby evolved into Kingler after 1 battle, so Scraggy and Gible should definitely have evolved.

1. I'm pretty sure Totodile has bitten Ash's head multiple times, I would like to see that continue and that it hurts Ash to the point that he learns his Croconaw not to do it anymore.
2. Tododile's cheary personality and its dance moves wouldn't cross over well in to Feraligar I think

I think that was a conscious decision. Because crawdaunt is known to be very violent pokemon, and corphish is pretty happy and chill.

Well, it's not like Ash actively chose not to evolve them, he didn't give them an Everstone or anything. And in at least some cases, it was because that Pokemon specifically didn't want to evolve for various reasons, which I think it actually makes Ash a better character for listening to them and not forcing them to evolve against their will like Damian or Paul or the like probably would.

OMG THANK YOU! As a huge garchomp fan, it really pissed me off that ash didn't evolve gible. I disagree that it should stay as a gabite though. Ash fully evolved goomy so I don't see why he can't fully evolve gible. And plus, come on, Ash needs as much power as he can get. But yeah, ash not evolving gible was one of the most frustrating things in the anime.
God this topic always gets me annoyed for one reason. Unlike the games where the player has 100% of the say when a pokemon evolves in the anime if unless they evolve by any other method but raising them The trainer has 0 say. Remember when Bulbasaur did everything not to evolve? This means that as I pointed out Pokemon have a massive say when they evolve.
What I hate about these videos are that ash don't chose whether his Pokemon evolve. It is simply a power boost while the Pokemon contains certain emotions. For example: In ash's battle versus kukui torracat evolves because it's emotions are off the hook. It is also against it's very rival incineroar. It gains that power boost it needs when it evolves.

In the case of Butterfree and Lapras, I think it was definitely the right thing to do, letting them follow their hearts (In Lapras' case, he wasn't much of a battler anyway, so not much was lost on that front). Right there with you on Primeape and ESPECIALLY Pidgeot, cause he promised to come back. A trainer leaving a faithful Pokemon in a forest, promising to come back but never actually doing so? Where have I heard that before?

The problem with Ash's Snivy is that it was underused on Ash's part, and it never warmed up on Snivy's side. It was shown to be a cunning Pokémon that used of some subterfuge like Attract, and that just isn't Ash's style. And Snivy was super closed, to the point where we don't even know what its deal was with its original trainer it supposedly abandoned at one point out of its own volition, or if that is even the case. In that regard I totally understand why it didn't evolve, and I would actually have liked it better if it was Cilan's Pokémon (Seriously, Dweeble and Stunfisk on the Grass Type Master? Makes less sense than Brock, that at least wanted to be a breeder.). That would allow Ash to keep Leavanny on his team on a more permanent basis.
What I DON'T understand is why Oshawott doesn't. Sure we had other characters with Samurotts and Dewotts, but it is one of Ash's best explored Pokémon. We actually get small arcs in the plot about him overcoming fear and becoming a better warrior far more than Tepig or any other of the Pokémon that actually evolved did. It would also be a bit of a refreshing point, because up until then, he never evolved a water starter, and hasn't seen an evolved water pokémon since Kingler!

I remember as a kid watching the episode where Charmander evolved into Charmeleon and expecting to see the other 2 evolve soon after. Then Charmeleon evolved again and Bulbasaur turned it down. Then I assumed they were going with that other idea and just evolving Squirtle to Wartortle and doing the one of each stage idea. I still can't believe they didn't do that, it would've made way more sense and then Pokemon Trainer has a team that makes more sense in Smash.

I cite Turtwig's evolution into Grotle as why that would be a bad idea. Up until then, his whole fighting style had revolved around his speed and agility, but as a much bulkier Grotle, he wasn't able to utilize it at all, and racked up a lot of losses as a result. The same would probably happen to Pikachu if he ever evolved.
Squirtle could evolve to Wartortle but can't evolve to Blastoise because Gary already has Blastoise and it would not make sense that they would have one pokemon the same

I misread the title of this video, I read it as "How Ash from Pokemon should have evolved" which in my opinion, would be a worthwhile subject to discuss, in terms of character progression and general story progression compared to the "restart" he seems to get every new season.
