NewWaveMasquerade There are likely more bloodlines and clans than we will ever know. Think of the number who may have been extinguished before history started to be recorded... But occasionally one ancient torpid vampire of a clan nobody recognises rises, embraces, and a bloodline commences.
Mechanically, I'd represent their flaw as, "Jian Shi are never able to raise their Dexterity above 1." Which is a bit less terrifying than he's describing here but certainly, we can forgive Kindred a bit of hyperbole.
Well, I thought I knew all the Clans and Bloodlines. You, Sir, just proved me wrong. I guess we at least now know who is the more complete walking Encyclopedia of the WoD. Chapeau.
They could very easily pass themselves off as old cripples, though from what I gather they tend to rely less on nightly interactions than other vampires and more on their ability to ambush passersby.
This is the first time I've heard of these guys, they seem very interesting. Thanks for starting these up again, there's something to be said for the storytelling style that you use for your clan and bloodline descriptions.
These clan videos are just great. Helped me a lot when I ran my vampire games, showed these to my players and got them on the right track :) Hope you keep making more of these. Great job sir!
Jiang Shi are essentially in a state of constant rigor mortis and yet they can, however briefly, perform feats of physical prowess that rival or even surpass those of other clans such as the Gangrel. How interesting.
Hmm... Two theories. 1. Their great affinity for celerity results in adverse effects on their bodies; supernatural overexertion if you will. Whether that in and of itself is the cause or the result of some kind of a curse unique to their clan is another matter. 2. The pain of moving enhances their already formidable physical prowess to such an extent that it would be considered monstrous even by kindred standards. Provided of course that they can overcome the pain.
So.. there are more Kindred than I thought there were. I never heard of these Lo Yan, these Jiang Shi. I’ll have to do some research of my own on them. I guess this means your Guide to Vampires isn’t over quite just yet or is it. Are there any other mysterious Clans and Bloodlines that you’ll be sharing with us before moving on to the Garou or will they continue to be lost to time and legend?
Only recently came across you videos and after binging the Pentex Guides I decided to check out your VtM stuff. Have you ever put out any written form of these Asian Clans? I would love to read them.
I split it up while the west had Caine, the east had the dragon of Kuai Jin/ Jiang shi, Caine and the father of dragons made up a deal long ago not to disturb or intrude on their territories honoring an ancient deal. They got their own discipline tables etc while celerity, potency and fortitude, have to sleep in pots or vases etc or be destroyed, immune to mind related disciplines "The dragons gift".
I found this to be an absolutely fascinating clan! Can you cite which source book they are from? I'd love to dig deeper. Thank you so much for these videos! I've just recently come upon them, and I think I've seen them all this point.
Its not from a book dude, its his version of them I think. He thinks the Kuei-Jin as presented are more of a westerners view of them, not how they really should be. he believes they shouldnt be "special" with the entirely new system and yin and yang and all that crap.
If so then someone should give him a pat on the back, perhaps they took notice of his idea, as apparently, the Jiang Shi are in 2nd edition of Requiem, although to my knowledge only mentioned in one of the novels. If I am wrong please someone let me know.
If there is EVER another VTM game on PC, you should do voice work for it, maybe as a character the player could go to for advice, that sort of thing. You've got the voice to make it perfectly believable and it'd be great to see that happen. We can but hope.
Great stuff as always. I saw the Scion book sitting in your bookshelf, have you actually played it before? I've played and dm'd one session and loved it, but haven't found the players/storyteller or the time to do anything with it.
So... to use an overused analogy, they operate on the same kind of fear as the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who? Because those things were scary. Also, will we be quizzed on these clans at the end of term? Because I've not made any notes...
it was obvious in his video for them, one thing i would like to see done is a video for revenants as i have learned many people shove them off as a just a name for a tzimisce ghoul
Shi is actually pronounced "Sure" (as sure is pronounced in America) with an R sound at the end. They are an ancient Chinese folk legend. Sorry, I'm a huge nerd in addition to being a Chinese speaker.

At last he has risen again from his torpor, welcome back to unlife Gentleman
MeltedCheesefondue Thank you kindly for saying so.

The Pentex Guide to Werewolves will come once the powers-that-be at Onyx Path give me the nod.
How would the Jiang Shi ever interact with mortals in night to night happenings if they are so stiff?
They could very easily pass themselves off as old cripples, though from what I gather they tend to rely less on nightly interactions than other vampires and more on their ability to ambush passersby.
Eiji Bayushi I would imagine that as the younger Jiang Shi are not really that stiff the elders would use them as messengers of a sort.
Eiji Bayushi obfuscate lvl 3 I think would allow them to disguise themselves so in the minds of others would appear to move like normal

Previous clan video to this was on Harbingers... I'd advise watching that one. :p
Amazing. Yet another brilliant glimpse into the history of the Kindred.
Thank you for watching!
I will definetly tell my storytellers to take a look at your videos! Really instructive!
These clan videos are just great. Helped me a lot when I ran my vampire games, showed these to my players and got them on the right track :)
Hope you keep making more of these. Great job sir!
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Every thought of educating us on those that Hunt the Kindred - the Society of Leopold or the more Modern Hunters?
Indeed!
Jesus christ! I love you're videos! I can imagine it would be a treat to role-play with you! Keep up the great work :)

Jiang Shi are essentially in a state of constant rigor mortis and yet they can, however briefly, perform feats of physical prowess that rival or even surpass those of other clans such as the Gangrel.
How interesting.
You summarise them nicely. I understand the rigors also imbue in them a great pain.
Hmm... Two theories.

Very much so!
Awesome video as always! :D I look forward too the others!
Thank you! I appreciate the clarification.
I'm glad you like it!
And it will go on.. There are more tales to tell!
Good spot! See this man! He knows things!!
Pogo vampires?
Just like Jeanette Voermann.
@@TheGentlemanGamer Oh wow that mental image is gonna give me dreams.
He is a member of the Harbingers of Skulls. He reveals that in his video on them.
any plans to talk about the kindred of the east, the kuei-jin or the Legacies of Africa? :)
Thanks for the kind words!
There will be a few more... The Pentex Guide to Garou will come out once the folks at Onyx Path tell me it's okay for me to do so.
That's what they want you to think.
Then they appear behind you.
Very true. For now, we can but hope.
Hrmm, a few cryptic phrases reffering to the hopping vampires of the east in A world of darkness is the only reference i've seen.
That may come!
I feel like a weight is lifted!
Their legs are damn straight.
Maybe, but then again the Giovanni thought they'd killed all of the Cappadocians and yet there are still Harbingers running around.
Probably. Probably.
That would be telling.

Kind of, yes! Jiang Shi have been around in mythology for centuries though.
Weeping angels
It bounces.
Thanks! As always!
So why am I still thinking of them hopping around?
I mean I am not joking, just I keep thinking Jiang Shi as hopping vampires in Manchu outfits.
I split it up while the west had Caine, the east had the dragon of Kuai Jin/ Jiang shi, Caine and the father of dragons made up a deal long ago not to disturb or intrude on their territories honoring an ancient deal. If you're a lupine pup, the Jiang-Shi would bounce all over your face.
I found this to be an absolutely fascinating clan! Can you cite which source book they are from? I'd love to dig deeper. Thank you so much for these videos! I've just recently come upon them, and I think I've seen them all this point.
I cannot - it is unfortunately a deeply held secret.
Its not from a book dude, its his version of them I think. He thinks the Kuei-Jin as presented are more of a westerners view of them, not how they really should be. he believes they shouldnt be "special" with the entirely new system and yin and yang and all that crap.

I am your sole source of information on this errant bloodlines of Caine.
A good way to port them over to Requiem!
Thanks!
There will be a few more.

Amazing.
You'll always be a pup to me.
I may not be as "timeless" as a Leech, but I got much to prove. This Athro still has fight left.
What book does this clan come from?
rigor to stiff to for there own good very interesting little defect
Great stuff as always. I saw the Scion book sitting in your bookshelf, have you actually played it before? I've played and dm'd one session and loved it, but haven't found the players/storyteller or the time to do anything with it.
What books do these asian-esque clans hail from?
So... to use an overused analogy, they operate on the same kind of fear as the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who? Because those things were scary.
Also, will we be quizzed on these clans at the end of term? Because I've not made any notes...
I have played it, and even reviewed it!
Perhaps your senses are correct...
Is it the deathly appearance?
Perhaps.
Very impressive!
Where can I read more? What sourcebooks? SchreckNet?
painfully so it would seem
The Laibon are more likely than the Kuei Jin.
Isn't it though?
it was obvious in his video for them, one thing i would like to see done is a video for revenants as i have learned many people shove them off as a just a name for a tzimisce ghoul
What happens when a Jiang Shi touches the ground?
Kuei-Jin please
Don't knock yourself ;) I pull some of these things from one sentence in a book.
I ain't to pup. Even the Leeches would like to use a Jiang-Shi as a basketball.
You would have to contact the makers of said game! It wouldn't be becoming for me to volunteer.
Really? I've got to go check that review out :3
The one shame with Scion is not having the players/storytellers for it :(
Boing boing *Ka-Sklurch*!
Ashera?
Guide to the Garou?
I will do so.
I have risen!
So have the salubri
Which book were the Jiang Shi in?
That would be telling.
Not Wind from the East or Blood & Silk...
"We Harbingers"? Was a clan just confessed?
where do you get this info about vamps from ?
witch book can you find this clan in
Who are the ashira?
Tempted to play Vampire basketball.

They see them as abhorrent, quite simply. The Kuei Jin are the Nazis to the Cainite Jew, Gypsy and Homosexual.
FULCI TRANSPORTING ZOMBIES :)
As if I would waste my time on those groups of kine.
Possibly.
I really hate this bloodline. They shall never exist in my games. Great video though, just not my taste I suppose.
They hate you too!
That would be telling.
