Your lessons are really helpful! I’m about to launch my product and I’ve been watching all your videos and tips! Thanks for sharing. Once I launch and achieve what I’m looking for I will get back to you and share my experience. So thank you for sharing yours!🙏
This one hits deep Spencer. Thanks for the existential crisis, haha! “Just because you can make something and you know you’ll be able to sell it, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea” Makes me question a lot of choices I’ve made!
So glad you found it helpful. I can't emphasize it enough, brand is sooooo important! Don't worry about the past, look forward and let brand guide your future actions.
That's why I always talk about brand guidelines being such an important part of your Amazon FBA journey. It allows you to have tunnel vision and focus on what your brand stands for and helps guide the product development, marketing, and strategy.
Good books about branding to read: "Obsessed" by Emily Heyward, "Primal Branding" by Patrick Hanlon, "Building a Brand Story" by Donald Miller, "Start with Why" by Simon Sinek
Looking at example of DJI where they didn’t start off with branding instead they developed a unique product that’s a new category - do you think they are a successful brand? vs companies like OnePlus where they have a bunch of fanatics who are crazy about the brand itself.
Which brand do you think evokes the strongest emotional response? More importantly, what product are you developing and are you creating it in such a way that it has value beyond its inherent function and utility?
@@SpencerJan I definitely think OnePlus has a stronger community and its are very much crazy about the brand and less about their products. I would agree that DJI is a rare example since they created that category and they went on being the leader of that category. For most consumer brands, companies need to focus on finding their unique positioning and offer something that’s beyond the functionalities and utility.
When I watch this video, Spencer. I understand how you got to where you are now, you touch on things I did not think of even though I knew I want to build a brand, anyway is it necessary for an Amazon seller to work that way from the beginning? Will it give me an advantage in the short term or is it just a long term investment?
The answer is... it depends on what you want. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't follow this line of thinking and still make money. I also didn't care much about branding in my early years....and I made money. But what allowed me to last as long as I did and build a company that wasn't dependent on amazon were principles like branding. It helped me a lot which is why I shared this video. I understand sometimes short term thinking works. But if you want to build a lasting business, long term thinking is necessary.
Spencer. I really liked the idea of designing the product in a way that would connect to the emotion, but I did not quite understand how to incorporate it into the product. Can you elaborate this for me? My product is for mothers of babies. it is used by the mother when she goes out with the baby. The feeling I would like to give behind it is the pleasure babies have when they go out in the open air, and the quality time the mother can spend with her baby. how would you put such a thing in the product? Another point. does it affect the customer when he sees the product and comes to buy, or will it only affect him when he uses the product? And again thanks for such amazing videos
@@aharon7322 I think you need to spend time learning about brands to understand why and how they are used. The best way to do this is to read some books and dive in deep into branding. I've listed some books in the description. Read all of those first. Branding is not easy. Like doctors, there are people who specialize in this field and dedicate their entire lives to branding....so you need to spend more time wrestling with the concept. I may be wrong but it sounds like you haven't developed your brand enough and that is the first step to work on.
