I was at the Concert for George, and I can say with total confidence that the concert kicked into high gear as Sam performed "Horse to the Water." She brought the house down!
A very talented and lovely lady. Thank you for all the enjoyment you have given us. Your performance with Pink Floyd was incredible. I very much understand the sadness of losing your voice. To lose such a wonderful gift would be difficult to accept.
Dear Sam, I was born in 1968. I was 20 years old when I served in the army of the 63rd Parachute Brigade in the former Yugoslavia in 1988. When I first heard your song, Stop, that beautiful song has been engraved in my heart ever since and I confess I was in love with you. I'm glad that thanks to the Internet I can tell you that now. You are truly unique, and the song "Stop" has remained unsurpassed to this day, I will listen to it for the rest of my life. And yes, until now, I am remained unmarried, I think it's your fault. hahahaha. My deep respect.
So great to see Sam in such a great place now after the devastation of losing THAT voice. I always loved her early work. All of the Jools Holland & Pink Floyd work just passed me by at the time so I was delighted to find it all down a TH-cam Rabbit hole a few years back. An amazing singer with such a great voice, as an audience we are lucky to have access to all those great performances.
Number 8 is a truly stunning album. As soon as it was released and i first heard it, i loved it. Whilst i fully understand the obvious frustration that Sam feels at not being able to sing the way she always has, i am so happy that she has discovered a way to continue to be incredibly creative, and i hope that she will keep on writing, recording and releasing her wonderful material. That being said, i truly hope and pray that the voice returns. Either way, Sam is amazing and such a lovely human being and we will continue to support her however things pan out. Keep rockin', Sam 🤟🏻🤩
That's the performance that woke me up to this wonderful artiste. A beautiful, talentedi individual with an abundance of talent. Glad to hear this update
For Sam Brown. He blew me away in the Harrison tribute with the song "Horse to the water." I hear her almost every day with her pianist. I'm not an expert in music or voices, but there are many who call themselves "singers" who don't sing, speak or play very low notes or have a nice tone of voice and make a lot of money. I don't want to give names. You gave notes that went up to Everest and did what you wanted with your voice. Now it will continue to sing within different margins. It's fantastic how he sings and makes music. Good luck in life to you and your children. From Spain.
I think that if Sam would have only preformed in the great gig in the sky she already succeeded 100% in life. That performance is so incredible in all kind of ways.
Sam browne just brought me to tears. Life can give you these unexpected heart breaking disasters that change your life....in ways that dont feel good. How do yoh come back?? Much love
I heard Sam live for the first time at a Floyd gig at Earls Court in '94. PHENOMENAL! She took me to another world and from that moment I was hooked!! There is something very unique in Sam's songwriting and performing. I am pleased Sam has found a different way to evolve and bring her undeniable talent to the world. Much love.
Hey Sam, got to say a big thank you for all the great music over the years, and I'm glad to see that you have found another creative avenue. You're like a fine wine, getting better with time!
I remember seeing Pink Floyd in Hannover in '94 and thinking, "Wow! That's Sam Brown singing 'background' vocals." And then "The Great Gig in the Sky" came on and I was completely blown away! I was sad to hear that you lost your voice, Sam. All the more reason to be happy you're back.
Hi. I always will love Sam Brown, with or without a voice. What a story in music and stunning vocal she has been giving us. Love from Norway, high up in the mountains.
Wow nice to see you again Sam. Today I played “ a great gig in the sky” very loud in my house. I love it so much. This evening I was looking for “ Stop” on TH-cam and found this interview. It feel very nice to see you. Which you all the health and luck in the world. Greetings and love from Holland. ❤
The first time I heard Stop, I was stood on the Kop at Anfield in 1989. Not my usual genre but this beautiful song stuck with me. A couple of weeks later, I was at Hillsborough. Somehow, this song helped with the pain of what happened that day. A spectacularly talented and humble lady. Thank you.
I'm old enough to remember your Dad but I found you through Concert for George. For me you were the standout of that star studded cast. This interview was fantastic and interesting and hopeful and I'm so grateful to find it. Thank you.
I only found my voice in my 40s and Sam was a huge inspiration for me. I remember seeing her sing with Pink Floyd and I remember just being completely stunned by her. Brilliant to hear more about her journey.
good for you, Sam. Everyone I knew growing up remembers your wonderful voice. Whether as a backing vocalist or front-and-center, your voice and your presence was always so powerful. Thankyou.
Dearest Sam, what an amazing singer you are. I'm a professional singer myself, I even did backing vocals for your mom, when she was in a television show here in the Netherlands, in the early nineties, I think!! I also suffered from vocal problems as well, like you, and had to learn to sing all over again after surgery ( I had a cyste on one of my vocal chords). My voice is different than before, and I now have to THINK about every note I sing, choosing which sound I'm gonna make and be aware of my thechnique...But I managed to have my voice back and I'm still singing on stages and in studios!!! I just can't believe there's no way for you to regain your singingvoice again. Anyway. Loads of LOVE to you, girl. Keep on going!! Love, Monique XX
I saw Sam when she was touring with Jools Holland in Blackpool in the 90's. She is the only thing I remember. We were relatively close to the stage and I was a bit starstruck. Presence is an understatement! Brilliant. One the best our country ever produced 😘
A uniquely wonderful talent. I absolutely loved Sam with Jools. I never enjoyed musical success in such a way, but have played guitar for more than 50 years now and have recently started to struggle with pain in my fingers so that I can no longer play how I used to. It makes me terribly sad, and I was only ever a hobbyist. I can't even begin to imagine what Sam went through. But love her voice and she comes across a genuine and lovely woman.
Omg she has an English accent! First roachford and now Sam brown....how could I not know this till now lol Btw I love how she hits that insanely high note in stop. Just an amazing vocal performance. Beautiful. An all time classic.
The reason I go back to one particular pulse song here on TH-cam is because of your voice. The energy in that one trio moment is spell binding. Thank you for sharing your gift, Sam.
My parents had an album of yours. I became obsessed with your voice. You're amazing. I'll have to listen to your most recent album, congratulations on making it 👏
Love you and your voice Sam. It’s an honest and real voice. Sorry about the difficulties with it, but your work lives on. Let go, move on was my mantra in getting divorced.
Sam, if it means anything, I've watched your performance of Great Gig (PULSE 1994) at least 250 times, and still do weekly. I get chills every time you "growl" on that video. (Watching you sing it is half the reason). So passionate and powerful. I've also been watching the "Reactions" video as new viewers watch it for the first time. They're all blown away by your performance. It never gets old. Nor do you! Enjoy your life. You've given me and thousands of others such happiness.
Your story is inspirational, but at the same time sad. It seems you've turned lemons into lemonade and you have continued your journey in the music world. I have the concert for George on DVD and crank up the sound system when you are featured on it. Keep it up, you have a great talent and it's glad to see you are still creating wonderful music.
Your vocal part on the live Great Gig in the Sky gives me goose bumps and brings tears of joy to my eye every time I hear it. I've been a gigging guitarist/singer for 45 years and when I hit about 50 I found I couldn't hit the notes singing like I could hit easy in my early 40's. The band decided to de-tune a semi-tone to help us all as we were all around the same age. It helped a lot for 10 years but now in my 60's that's even tough. I quit playing live last year to take care of my wife who has health issues and needed me home. I do miss it and find it hard to get enthused to even play my guitars anymore. I try to play an hour or so every day, but it is hard to stay at it. I feel your sadness about not being able to do what you could once. Sadly, playing and singing music is a perishable skill for most of us and it fades as we age. Keep doing what you're doing and play your instruments. It keeps us musicians' sanity intact.
Samantha Brown. There is absolutely nothing fake about you, Or anything you have done in your entire life . Your voice i hate to say was , But it was the most incredible singing voice this country has ever produced . In the world, I hold Joni Mitchell , You and Kate Bush, in high regard . With Pink Floyd, Your backing vocals were extra ordinary "Great Gig In The Sky " Need i say more . The sessions with Jon Lord were beautiful , Among my favourites on TH-cam. You are a great songwriter , But you know what ? The most important thing amongst all this success , Is you are simply Beautiful, Internally, and Externally, A true English Rose. A trooper . God Bless you and God Bless Your mum and dad for letting us have you.
Yes I have seen another video on TH-cam by Sam, Great to hear about all the musical vocals Sam has done ! Extraordinary ! I can’t really imagine how it must be to have had to loose one’s voice and deal with that ! Bless you Sam and thanks for your enthusiastic posts that show us all not to stop.
Sam's amazing voice was probably never really supposed to be heard on the Earth anyway. We were so lucky to hear it for the decades until the Angels realised and took it back! Thank you Sam -;You let us humans hear music intended for the gods! What a gift you gave us!
Hi Sam, just found this youtube Thank you, nice to see you again after all these years since the Stop 7 inch I bought before being a dj for a short spell and marching into mediocricity of life. I have discovered my love of vinyl again since mum passed in 2020. For some reason I am cring my eyes out. Dad was a musician and had some singles out with bands with decca in the 60s he died in 2012. Thank you for posting this, time flies doesn' it. Take care.
I'd forgotten how much I love your work. Thank you for putting me back in touch with it. What a phenomenal voice! A friend of mine suffering from depression was told to learn ukulele. It's impossible to be miserable with a uke. Turned out to be true. I'd love to see more of just you a uke, and some soulful songs! If that makes sense.
I'm so glad to hear Sam is making music again. It must have been devastating to loose her voice. She made a truly spectacular sound. I think I understand her when she talks about the moments of depression. I only hope she can find real happiness in life. ❤️
you've never lost your sharp tones, just recreated them! 'Great gig in the sky', Wow! and i didn't even know it was you, until today! Superb vocalist! Thanks!
I saw you live back in the day in a pretty rough club in Queensland Australia and you were absolutely awesome - definitely pearls before swine in that particular club, but you rocked them out with possibly the best version of "Respect" ever performed.
I absolutely love her and her beautiful, tremendous vast talent. Was hooked since the “Stop” LP. Her albums always return to my stereo. There’s really no other singer and songwriter like her. 🩷
You've given me so many great musical memories. From "Stop" and all your other solo work, to all your work with Pink Floyd and also Jools Holland, especially "Horse to Water" for "Concert for George". (BTW, have you heard the version of "Stop" that was done by Joe Bonamassa..?) Anyway, glad to hear your happy and enjoying life.
Sam, I wrote to you as a Teenager and you sent a signed photo back to me, first and only time I did that in my life, What wonderful taste in Women and Music I had back then. Such a wonderful vocalist. Glad you are well, sending you blessings
No quiero dar nombres.
Sam, In the pantheon of singers, I have a relatively small group of women that I consider unique. You are not just in that group, but set apart in so many ways. I will be cheering for you.
In 1988 kregen mijn man verkering.
Loved you then, love you now. My first 'celebrity' crush. I still rmember the internview you did.. cant recall the show.. where a disembodied voice interviewed you and you made a cup of tea in the middle of the interview. So different! "Oh how i love my tea TEA in the afternoon, i cant live without it... and i think i will have another cup very VERRRRRYYYY soon" Glad you are back creating
One of my most favorite female singers of all time, I think Sam was also very underrated too but not by me though, and as far as I'm concerned she had a fantastic singing voice for sure! I understand exactly what she is saying about not being able to sing like she used too and how she cant get her head around it! Everything she said during her interview struck a cord with me and I'm now going through the same thing with finding it hard to except! God bless!
Sam, my dear, they weren't looking at your tits... You have such a captivating smile that I can never look away from your beautiful face! Thank you for this look into your life. I know the loss of your singing voice is a bitter pill to swallow, but please counter that with the knowledge that the music you have been able to make has been nothing short of magical. You have given thenworld far more than we deserve! Love you always!
Sam, I was at the Pulse Tour in Ears Court in October(?)1994 and instantly fell in love with you, although, I only knew you for "STOP" and your dad! You were phenominal alongside the other two girls in the chorus and in particular, I always go back to "Money" which I found bewitching!
Dear Sam - I was very saddened to hear about your voice problems - I understand, I've been dealing with a life-altering medical issue for a while now. I have absolutely loved your voice and songwriting since the I first heard that lush opening to Stop! (plus an ORGAN SOLO? - in 1988? - FABULOUS!!). After listening to that and subsequent albums, my opinion is that you convincingly blew away the other female singer/songwriters of that time. I really like Sheryl Crow and Sarah Mclaughlin, etc... but there is no competition IMHO. Saw you on the Pink Floyd tour in DC, wish you could have done a solo tour over here. Love, Ed.
Glad YT brought you back to my attention. You're one awesome Lady. X. So sorry to hear about your voice, I'm FB friends with Sheila Chandra and of course she's been through this as well.
So glad this found its way into my ‘you haven’t watched this yet…’ list! I butchered ‘stop’ on my channel a good few years ago but have long admired Sam’s incredible voice and felt incredibly sad for both Sam, and the rest of us, when I found out that she could no longer sing the way that she used to be able to. I’m so glad that Sam is inspired again to make music…plus, it would have been a shame not to have that last letter ‘N’!
I still listen to Stop, one of the best songs of the late 80's in my humble opinion. I'm also a huge Pink Floyd fan, and I was delighted Sam featured on Pink Floyd's Pulse tour/album. I'm so sorry you lost your voice. Best of luck with all of your future endeavours Sam!
Fear of life is one of my all time favourite songs - I also brought my kids up on it from babies, it’s really helped shape my teenage daughter’s taste in music and it’s still a very special song to us all.
One of the greatest singers the world has ever seen...saw her sing live great gig in the sky when she was with pink floyd...claire torrey be damned lol. Little Sammy Brown sang that song like none other...such a beautiful lady too ❤
Sam Brown dinlemeye başladığımda 11 yaşındaydım. İlk aldığım kaset Stop albümüdür. Her şarkısı mükemmel bir albümdür. Sarışın, kırmızı rujlu, beyaz tenli Sam Brown gördüğüm en karizmatik en güzel kadındı. Böyle etkileyici bir şarkıcı dünyaya bir armağandır. Çünkü hala Walking Back To Me dinliyorum. Türkiye'den sevgiler...
Loved this! Wonderful career; few people could even dream of it. Humble and forthright, coming to terms with big changes, and going in new, creative directions. Long may it continue! I lived in France at the time of "Stop", and remember the video being on tv almost every day.
I can’t tell express how much I love Sam Brown. So desperately unrated in the public view. One of the all time best voices. Plus my girlfriend (now wife) kissed me whilst listening to her sing stay with me baby❤❤
Sam came to my attention via her collaboration with Jon Lord in co-writing Wait A While, then The Sun Will Shine Again written specifically for Frida - two beautiful songs with heartfelt lyrics. A wonderful talent who seems to have both feet on the ground.
Excellent bio. Shitty heartbreaks, and exceptional highlights, galore. Same age, living in 80's London, I actually first heard/saw "Stop" while on hols in Oz, huge crush instantly, but my next encounter was seeing Pulse 10 years ago ... now, #DSOTM50 brought me here, and that's how I discovered "Injured". It's obvs autobiographical so the line 'There's always schitt, but life is great" made me smile. What a journey, so far. Hope there's more trip-hop to come
The Pink Floyd vocals are on another level, out of this world. Every time I listen to it, it sends chills down my spine.
Horse to the water. Concert for George. Simply brilliant!
My favorite from that fabulous concert along w Billy Preston's "Isn't it a Pity?"
I didn't know until today that she is Joe Brown's daughter.
I was at the Concert for George, and I can say with total confidence that the concert kicked into high gear as Sam performed "Horse to the Water." She brought the house down!
Yes ! Unbeatable!
Absolutely agree
That is my favourite too !!!
Sam Brown at Pulse was some of the best singing I've heard in my life
Yes.
It's masterpiece.
I had always wondered who that was because the first time I **thought I watched her perform was on the Concert for George dvd.
A very talented and lovely lady. Thank you for all the enjoyment you have given us. Your performance with Pink Floyd was incredible. I very much understand the sadness of losing your voice. To lose such a wonderful gift would be difficult to accept.

Fellow muso here, massive Pink Floyd van (I saw you twice on the 1994) tour.
You utterly nailed GGITS. Great to see you back in action.
Number 8 is a truly stunning album. As soon as it was released and i first heard it, i loved it. 🤟🏻🤩
Thank you for all you taught me, my friend. It was an honour sharing a stage with you.
One of the best singers I've ever heard. If "Wait a while" with Jon Lord and Sam doesn't pull your heart strings, you're probably just dead inside.
Most people are-or just followers of the slagdonna/Kylie/diarhianna/pariah carey/taylored spliff etc. shit train which is the same thing actually!
That's the performance that woke me up to this wonderful artiste. A beautiful, talentedi individual with an abundance of talent. Glad to hear this update
Brutal, frank & honest interview Sam. Thank you - I wish you all the very best.

Probably the most underrated singer, the most amazing performance on Gig in the Sky still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Yep that was her, incredible hey. The two others beside her were Rachel Fury and Durga McBroom
Hi.
I always will love Sam Brown, with or without a voice. What a story in music and stunning vocal
she has been giving us.
Love from Norway, high up in the mountains.

I heard Stop in 88 on the radio, stopped me in my tracks. Unbelievable…❤
I can’t get enough of Stay With Me Baby. I wish it was on iTunes

Awesome Interview with an Awesome Artist and Friend. You’ve inspired me so much since I met you. Xxx
"Oh how i love my tea TEA in the afternoon, i cant live without it... and i think i will have another cup very VERRRRRYYYY soon"
Glad you are back creating
One of my most favorite female singers of all time, I think Sam was also very underrated too but not by me though, and as far as I'm concerned she had a fantastic singing voice for sure!
I understand exactly what she is saying about not being able to sing like she used too and how she cant get her head around it!
Everything she said during her interview struck a cord with me and I'm now going through the same thing with finding it hard to except!
God bless!
Una voz increíble. Un abrazo desde Chile
Love, Ed.
Your adaptability to your passion is truly inspiring , keep looking for the love of life Sam
Inspiring. I'll always be sorry we never got to work together, but Sam has managed her troubles in a magically positive way. Brilliant lady.
I fancied her so much as a kid....I guess I still do.
I wanked myself into another dimension
I was surprised to find out that the voice with Pink Floyd was by Sam Brown... I loved it! 🤩👍
Необычайная женщина до сих пор я её люблю слушать и восхищаться её харизмой, жалко что так произошло с голосом, долгих лет жизни вам и здоровья.💖💖💖
Always loved her music. Her first album was a part of the soundtrack of my life many years ago
I feel very privileged to have you as a friend. You are an amazing human. x
So glad you have found an outlet for your prodigious talents.
I remember Sam's incredible vocals on Jon Lord's " Before I Forget " album. Hauntingly beautiful voice
One of the greatest singers the world has ever seen...saw her sing live great gig in the sky when she was with pink floyd...claire torrey be damned lol. Little Sammy Brown sang that song like none other...such a beautiful lady too ❤
What a brilliant interview! Love you lots.
Welcome to the Machine.
That grainy old video of you singing on the Bluebell railway platform " That's the way I love you" is outstanding.
Sam Brown, I wish you could have performed in the U.S. Thanks for the music you gave us.
A truley fabulous and talented lady. Seen her live a couple of times and was blown away by her singing.
Beautiful talented individual you brought and bring so much joy to so manyx
A wonderful grounded person. You have given so much already to music. Voice of an angel. Stay strong, don't stop.
You're a great singer!!💐👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you for some truly amazing music.
I can’t tell express how much I love Sam Brown. So desperately unrated in the public view. One of the all time best voices. Plus my girlfriend (now wife) kissed me whilst listening to her sing stay with me baby❤❤
Thanx for the cd, Sam! A friend from Norway,
I fell in love with Sam Brown in 2002 when I first saw her in Concert for George; I wish she knew. Greetings.😍
Sam came to my attention via her collaboration with Jon Lord in co-writing Wait A While, then The Sun Will Shine Again written specifically for Frida - two beautiful songs with heartfelt lyrics.
A wonderful talent who seems to have both feet on the ground.
Amazing artist so underrated. keep the music coming.
Hope there's more trip-hop to come
Love this woman.
An incredible voice.
A beautiful lady.
A soul...I know so little about her.
I don't think I need to know more.
Authenticity is shinning through.
Your talking voice IS MUSIC. Comparable to L Cohens album...10 new songs ! Love and Respect.
