- A “temporary memorial” has been created in memory of the children killed by the war in Gaza on Bombay Beach in California, US. Behn Samareh, the artist behind the project, aims to drill a hole for every child killed and has said he will continue as long as the war goes on.

That’s beautiful. That’s also called “Sadqa Jariya” everlasting charity.
When someone passes away if you do a good deed which is everlasting it brings god deeds to the deceased.
Such as planting a fruit tree, every time a bird/animal/insect eats the fruit the good deeds will go to the deceased person whose memory it is in.

the area is designated for "dust mitigation" which involves planting native plants, but usually driven by function and not aesthetics. they just need to cover a certain square footage and for cheapest possible price.
I am in touch with the folks in charge to see if this can perhaps influence the design. this thought was there from the onset but in no way guaranteed nor necessary to the message and concept of the work. But it would be fantastic to make it a loner lasting Sadqa Jariya.

Another way of looking at it is that, currently, 3.7% of a nation or region’s children are missing or no longer alive due to war. In the USA that would amount to 2.7 million children missing or no longer alive in the space of 8 months. But my maths isn’t particularly good any corrections welcome.

It's heartbreaking. Seeing a child or baby pass away is a tragedy for everyone around them, their parents, their family, everyone who has seen them at least once. I can't believe there are at least 20,000 of them, at least... It's abominable. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THIS CRUELTY!!!

A beautiful artwork to remember each child. The amount of children murdered is incomprehensible. I have a school behind me with around 260 children, when they come out there seems so many of them yet this is only a small amount compared to the hideous amounts of children slaughtered. There is a US base near my home and they fly fighter jets over the school and I am often gripped with the scenario of bombs dropping on the school as they have been dropped in Gaza on so many children. It is beyond words what Israel is doing and what our Governments support and fund.

Each one of those little people had a face and a name and a voice, all gone now, thanks to the most murderous people this planet has ever witnessed. I understand why this man made his memorial. He feels he has to do something to keep keep his sanity, which is the reason why so many of us are fighting back. We simply cannot just sit by and watch this horrendous genocide without doing something, anything, to oppose it. We would not be human if we did.
