    I can confirm NOSTALRIUS was 1000x better than, not only any other Vanilla server but, any private or retail server period. I remember on my 5th day someone was trying to do DDOS and we all got DC'd. I tried to log back in and it said I was # 2340 in queue < 1 minute. Within a few seconds 16 000 people were back online. The best part was we were still in our groups and were able to continue our instance.

    I am hoping, some how some way, that 9.0 looks a hell of a lot more like wow 2 and a lot less like bfa 2. Classic is great, having fun with it, but I wish it didn't have to exist. I wish the game could have kept its roots and added new content. I don't want to have to play 2 different games and I know where one of them ends :(. I don't think anyone wanted there to have to be a "classic" wow or private servers.
    As far as LFD vs LFR, its definitely LFR. Raiding should be hard and premium content imo. It should have the best loot and require the most teamwork and be something you aspire to do. LFR makes it insignificant, rewards mediocrity and promotes toxicity imo. When guilds who raid have problems or challenges they have to work things out because its your team, your squad and you have to figure it out together. LFR sort of bypasses all that. I think its one of the worst features, not necessarily the worst idea, but the worst implementations. LFR + boring class design + rng forging is what is hurting retail the most. The current version of the game has a lot of good stuff in it too, but its all overshadowed by the core progression systems and bad design decisions.
    I do think though there is room for people who do not have time to raid, they need things to do also. I think mythic+, the new visions stuff (things like the mage tower) and pvp progression can all fill these players needs. I think warmode is also something that could be expanded upon and it gives people a reason to be out in the world again and not just sitting around waiting for a que to pop. Get rid of world quests and make some world events. Bring back the sandbox.

    • @N0031inq
      @N0031inq 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LFG, LFR, Transmog, Personal loot, class "balance", solo play viability, world quests, flying, quest design and art style all suck ass in Retail in my opinion. Retail wow is barely an M M O R P G at this point. Oh and I forgot how much I hate the fact that Blizzard added new races. It adds nothing to the factions other that water down the clear distinction (I cant tell Alliance from horde in Retail anymore).
      Feel free to disagree and shit on me but these are the reason I think many of us dont want nothing but old wow. Kinda sad that I am looking forward more to Warcraft: reforge than a new WoW expansion or D4.

    • @d1vin1ty
      @d1vin1ty 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      TBH I disagree on the LFR part myself. With exceptions, the loot really is nothing worth looking at. Though maybe it could be argued they could've tuned the loot down further so it's just not appealing and LFR becomes "for the people who lack the time to raid". It annoyed me in MoP until in legion when I didn't have the time to dedicate to a raiding guild. LFR allowed me to consume the content from an aesthetic and story POV that I wanted, in the limited time I had available.

    • @flamingchickin
      @flamingchickin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What's funny is sometimes lfr is even harder because trash players dont even know how to do mechanics at all and just faceroll and die... (lfr nzoth harder than actual normal or heroic nzoth cuz of the players) I disagree with getting rid of world quests though. Maybe make them less important, but i like going back into old zones and doing trivial, but rewarding content. it does get rly boring if thats all you do, but i mix up my gametime specifically for that reason. sometimes do a mythic keystone, maybe wipe on nyloatha, pvp, farm old stuff, level alt, whatever.

    Why do classic players dislike LFR, when classic raids and LFR have the same difficulty?

    • @Traditional_American
      @Traditional_American 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's because they believe that most players only ever do LFR and not actually join a guild with friends and raid with them. Most likely as it is exactly what they did in BfA before classic came out, bunch of spergs they are.

    • @Korksbebig
      @Korksbebig 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Simple to answer, disliking LFR has nothing to do with difficulty. At the end of the day these encounters are able to be beaten at any difficulty by some players. The problem LFR brings is lack of unity and value of "Why do you raid?" normal answer is simply gear, but it feels much better to work towards the gear, getting a raid group, and accomplishing something with meaningful teamwork, and this is proven by many accounts. This isn't for everyone obviously but a mass of players prefer working together in an mmorpg than playing alone or just getting their quick run in. That's not why we join an mmo.

      Cause it takes away the requirement of social interaction to experience endgame content. It turned WOW from a Multiplayer-game into a Singleplayer-game with other people.
      And as Fallout 76 has proven, adding other people to a Singleplayer-game wont turn a game into a true Multiplayer experience, much less an MMORPG.

    The problem is that Blizzard focuses too much on the endgame. That should NOT be where all the story is located. Add to that the increased focus on being "THE HERO!" of the game instead of just another adventurer reinforced the sense of isolation players feel in retail now.

    • @Traditional_American
      @Traditional_American 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with that is Blizzard releases *expansions* not a brand new game every couple years. So it's no wonder why they focus mostly on end game, they've been doing so since TBC came out. Not sure why that's even a complaint, really sounds like you're just parroting some bs atm.

      Well to a degree, however IMO LFD was actually what started the unstoppable downward spiral. I distinctly remember playing in WotLK and being drawn into WPvP on several occasions. For example you had to find a group and then actually go there to the entrance of the instance by yourself and there would be a group of ppl camping the entrance....then a huge fight would emerge, ppl would group up and so on. With LFD you eliminated that completely...you no longer had to go out there at all. Everything after that just kept on piling up. Plus the LFD system (which was later expanded into LFR) was also introduced with another "system" and that is the micro-transactions...the first mount for money, pets, factions changes...they were all introduced in that same patch or shortly before-after that. This all happened in the period when WotLK was about to end.

    LFG was very good in TBC where it was server restricted and did not teleport you to the instance, it just eliminated the chat spamming, in my opinion the cross server part of LFD/LFR ruined the game.

    Claiming LFR was the worst decision blizzard made is elitist and flat out incorrect and I’ll give my view as to why.
    I played through classic - mists and have been on a WOTLK private server Warmane - lordaeron with increased raid difficulty on and off for the last 2 years.
    LFR was a great addition for the majority of the mid ranged player base. I worked self employed and had a very active social life that really limited my time on the game; so being able to experience raiding content without at an easier rate with lower statted with items was great.
    Why don’t people like it? - Majority of such vocal haters was losing their sense of superiority over the lower player base. The people who spend day in day out on the game, with perhaps no job and clearly no social life wanted the one area of their life to feel on top. People getting enjoyment out of something that they feel they weren’t allowed to experience was apparently unacceptable. A lot of people it was not due to lack of skill to get into raiding but lack of time - me being one. Now I have more time due to Uk lockdown, I can raid again on the private server and it’s great doing it with a guild.
    I can think of MANY more things off the top of the head that have been far more destructive to the game: Cash shop & Garrisons.
    Also LFR raiding was an absolute mess and shitshow with very few people knowing what they were doing so I do not think of it in any way better than regular raiding, just a welcome alternative.

      @Chopstorm. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Relbl It's just weird how he generalized it as a casual expansion, when it actually started out as the hardest one to date. The heroics were the hardest we had ever seen, and only after the incessant bitching of the player base did they nerf them. It really wasn't that Blizzard changed it for themselves, it was them changing it for the vocal minority. Hell, many of the forum mods made fun of the people bitching.
      Blizzard really just went with this game design direction because a lot of people wanted it. Or at least thought they did.

Flying was never an issue for world pvp it was tbh a good thing that prevented from being ganked over and over. It was a good thing that you can escape annoying players that want to gank you for 30mins and above. My favorite was cata but wasn't fan of dungeon finder

  • @EyebrowsGaming
    @EyebrowsGaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    My answer to the question at 11:55 :
    Three things:
    1. The obvious one. LFD/LFR, for the reasons that you felt no attachment to the groups you made, as you no longer had to put in the effort to advertise. So there was no will to stay in a group that was struggling, nor create bonds with the players you shared the dungeon/raid experience with.
    2. The server merges of mid Cataclysm. I was on an RP server (Steamwheedle Cartel EU) from vanilla to Cata, and we had created our own community within that server, with its own lore, famous guilds and players, and memorable moments. As soon as SWC was merged with Argent Dawn, Moonglade and Earthen Ring, it created a vacuum of community, and the bonds that allowed new players to access the community were lost, essentially starting the process of creating a community from scratch all over again. It was at this point it felt to a lot of people like we were not even playing the same game anymore, when you include the major engine and world changes that Cata brought.
    3. XP acceleration of earlier content. Blizzard's marketing angle became about joining your friends at max level to do raids, and they found a lot of new players dropped off in the level grind. However, but making early zones easier to rush through, they were in effect fast forwarding 90+% of the content, to allow players to get to endgame faster. By speeding up the process, as well as the simplifying of quests in Azeroth, they accidentally turned 1-60 into a tedious obstacle rather than an adventure to experience. You levelled too quickly to become attached to your character and his equipment, or care about improvements you made, but because it was no longer challenging, it removed the fun, turning the levelling process into a painful period you had to "get through" to get to the fun content.
    Those three things are what made my rose-tinted glasses stop working, and start seeing the game for the flawed, poorly-designed mess it had become. RIP

    LFD is honestly fine imo, the feeling of walking across the world with your bois to go and kill some Zealots is awesome, but at the end of the day LFD is pretty okay. Biggest single bad decision Blizzard ever made? I'd say not knowing what they wanted. For example, we had four tiers of raids in WotLK at one point. Class design had to account for all those various tiers, along with loot and other sub systems. It created a mess and showed us a splintering of vision for the game. The devs obviously wanted to make raids more accessible while also trying to retain hard raids but wanted to reuse the content to save time. No one would of cared if say Naxx was the easy raid and Obsidian Sanctum was the hard raid, and each tier had a choice between the two. Trying to have their cake and eat it to let to many problems down the line and it's reverberations are still being felt in the community to this day. It led to LFR and LRD, titanforging, and random gambling tertiary stats on gear.

    Once I saw documentary about Blizzard. To sum it up: 'From Gamers to gamers'. Upon question about the previous expansion servers they replied: NO you think you wanted but you dont! The very same people blinded by greed hungry for money saw that comunity actually created something, they created NOSTALRIUS, Blizzard the self awarded gamers and game lovers (my ass) went and destroy it. Just so the can 'release' Classic wow. This is human LOW... This is what greed and money hunger do to you. That organization is so corrupted and rotten I am about to vomit.
    Its a shame.... WOW could be somewhere lese. Today WOW is DEAD. and its noone but Blizzard to blame!

    SWG was ridiculous at launch, the process of becoming a Jedi was so time consuming and the game was rampant with bugs! I remember that when you entered ANY town, the bar was the most popular spot in town. People made entire characters that were used for nothing but the buffs they could imbue on other players, they would be encircled by a gaggle of players and throwing money at the dancer for buffs...

    I feel like dungeon finder was the beginning of the end imo. I was a Prot pally main back in Wrath and my favorite thing to do was log on and post in trade "Tank LFG daily heroic for bagdes pst g2g" and have a group ready instantly, especially when the patch came out that introduced those 3 new side dungeons in ICC, Forge of souls, pit of saron, and I can't remember the 3rd but the one where Arthas chases you. Those 3 dungeons were very hard on heroic when they launched and I remember seeing tons of ppl looking for tanks and healers bc ppl were having so much trouble. I just feel like once dungeon finder was added the socialness of WoW died, now all trade chat is is gold spamming and political BS

    04:40 daily quests when you can spend the whole time doing them, rarely if ever managing to finish all, until expansions add more and make it impossible, but ultimately too much if one can only do those and reach max level, while ignoring all quests etc. which was something in Dragons Prophet, yet nobody fully enjoys being max level with beginner quests, unless it was well orchestrated like being the protagonist in the Overlord manga/anime.
