Thank you for another superb reaction to Dimash's music. While the song is a "love letter" to Dears in the sense that he dedicated it to his fans on his 29th birthday, some seem to miss that the song is also a solemn plea to Life (OMIR) to be kind to him as he contemplates his future, and for Fate not to lead him to mistakes for which he must apologize and regret. It is Life itself that he is infatuated with and grateful to in this song. Of course he will have the continued support of his Dears as he goes about trying to achieve his professional and personal dreams! At only 29 most of his life lies ahead, and the prayerful poses he strikes while singing OMIR reflect his trepidation about the future. (Some say the song is a harbinger of the death of his beloved grandfather only three weeks later. )

I don't understand why we must always make music a contest. Why can't we just enjoy or not enjoy? This constant scrutiny of artists is a real disservice to the artist. I have no doubt that the poet Dimash chose the absolute precise words to convey his meaning in Kazakh, though the translation was a bit clunky. His production company Dimashali allows him to record the audio, produce the video, be in charge of the whole thing from beginning to end. Òmir means „Life“. It’s such a beautiful and touching video. The lyrics are gorgeous and deep and Dimash speaks from his heart and soul. I cry every time I see this video, not because the video is so sad, but because I keep realizing that Dimash is such a humble person who only expresses gratitude, joy and love for his life so far, but also afraid of disappointing those he loves. Who does that these days? And at that age too? What a great human being. He's worked so hard for it his whole life and despite his success he's remained so down to earth, incredibly nice to everyone and never acts like a star. He always makes us think about our own lives.

I'm not certain he is shifting a semitone, in places I'm pretty certain he's working microtones and using harmonic minor. it's really well put together and even though its not my thing I can well appreciate the compositional & vocal skill. Thank you for another superb reaction to Dimash's music. While the song is a "love letter" to Dears in the sense that he dedicated it to his fans on his 29th birthday, some seem to miss that the song is also a solemn plea to Life (OMIR) to be kind to him as he contemplates his future, and for Fate not to lead him to mistakes for which he must apologize and regret. It is Life itself that he is infatuated with and grateful to in this song. Of course he will have the continued support of his Dears as he goes about trying to achieve his professional and personal dreams! At only 29 most of his life lies ahead, and the prayerful poses he strikes while singing OMIR reflect his trepidation about the future. (Some say the song is a harbinger of the death of his beloved grandfather only three weeks later. )

I don't understand why we must always make music a contest. Why can't we just enjoy or not enjoy? This constant scrutiny of artists is a real disservice to the artist. Of course one can prefer one artist or song over another ...but why make it an under the microscope contest? Comparing apples and oranges and macaroni. Just appreciate that most of us could not begin to put together or perform the pieces such top tier artists do. Who are we to critique Dimash? No professional can come close to what he does. Thank you for recognizing the beautiful complex musical composition of Dimash. He is not just a shocking singer. He has a masters degree in musical composition and almost a PhD. I have no doubt that the poet Dimash chose the absolute precise words to convey his meaning in Kazakh, though the translation was a bit clunky. His production company Dimashali allows him to record the audio, produce the video, be in charge of the whole thing from beginning to end. And now he is collaborating with David Foster to break into the American music industry. I have no doubt we will be seeing some amazing things from him in the future. ❤
