That was my understanding of the phrase. It's pointless because they're already dead and as long as your aiming for the barrel you are bound to hit one of them
hmm they said there is NOTHING more american than going fishing. in my personal experience here in finland, i would argue that fishing is even MORE popular in MANY countries outside the usa.
Not sure if that was staged or not, but the elephant checking out Adam and Jamie and moving into petting distance while they were doing their bit to camera is just too cute. And a little scary ... :)
I don't think elephants are afraid of mice, they are just afraid of small animals popping up in their path out of nowhere. I'm not afraid of mice but if I would enter the kitchen tomorrow and out a nowhere a mouse pops up from under the sink, I might also freak out for a second before I realize what's going on. Same goes for insects. I remember I once ran out of the room as a big and loud bug entered it through an open window, just to realize that is was only a Melolontha. They are big and they are loud but they are as harmless as it gets; they can neither bite nor sting and up to the mid 20th century they were even eaten by humans in parts of France and Germany (they were roasted and added to a soup) or used as chicken feed.
The elephant and mice myth is pretty interesting. In a few cases cartoons are right. Love the Chili Test. Lol i never hear about the "shoot fish in a Barrel" slogan.
I thought the saying "Shooting fish in a barrel" meant that something is so easy its like shooting fish in a barrel because you cant miss, not the other way around.

Personally I go for bread (the more coarse the better imo), together with fatty milk. But to be honest I never tried, like, orange juice. Maybe that's even better.
I think that the expression “shooting fish in a barrel” is not about shooting live fish in a barrel. Fish used to be salted and packed in barrels, so the barrel was full of dead fish, so shooting them was easy. You can’t really miss unless you miss the whole barrel and they are packed in there like sardines, so you can’t miss. So easy pezzy. I think you guys missed the historic content of the saying.
Just for the record, for the Hot pepper remedy you guys missed the most effective one, HONEY! I can't believe it was not on your list. I tried milk, beer and water, but when I heard and tried the honey, it's many times better, more soothing, effective reliefe🌶️🍯🐝
Honey is very good, especially because of its high sugar content. Banana milkshake is a very good second due to the high potassium content which nutrifies capsaicids. The only qualm I have with this episode is that apparently the Trinidad butch T is 8 billion Scovilles.... Unfortunately it's not it caps around 1 to 1.4 million.
11:04 Words cannot express how much I love the narrator for this show. But this moment sums up why. 18:57 The key is to swish the milk around in your mouth, instead of instantly swallowing it. Swish it around and get it in every nook and cranny of your mouth, then swallow. Don't gargle it, though. That's disgusting.
Maybe the elephants just dont want to stomp on the mouse, elephants have always been called gentle giants and that's probably why, that's my guess anyways.
The milk thing is all wrong, it's nothing to do with fat. It's about a specific protein in it. Because spice is fat soluble, apparently the fat part makes it worse. Something acidic or with a soaping effect shuts it down way sooner because it cleans you off, but it does burn much more intensely in the short term.
While that's true, specifically it's due to a protein called casein...this episode was produced in the mid 2000s. At the time, while doctors and food scientists knew about casein, they also thought the fat had an effect. Actually, when you say it's fat soluble and makes it worse, that doesn't make any sense, since if it's soluble it should help absorb and wash down the spice. That's what they believed, but more recent studies have shown that fat doesn't seem to make a difference either way, it neither helps nor makes it worse.
Its simple, the elephant is verry intelegent. Been aware of your seroundings is part of intelegence. The elephant knowing if it stepped on a mouse would cause pain, suffering and death. That is also intelegence. That prouves only one thing to me. The elephamt is more intelegent then us human. Just like all animals i have encountered up to date.
There's that but also one of the elephants definitely recoiled. Which makes me think it may be similar to someone walking upon a spider and being scared, maybe a more disgust issue
lol the bhut jolokia, or as it's better know, Ghost Pepper, has been overtaken as the hottest by now. The Carolina Reaper can reach double that of the Ghost Pepper.
it's estimated that you would have to consume 1/50th your body weight in ghost pepper to die from consumption of hot pepper lol. so a 68kg (150lbs) person would need to consume 1.3kg (3 pounds) of ghost pepper. (again estimated)
41:45 Elephants are not afraid of mice - they are aware of them ;) and wild animals don't hunt/kill for fun or in carelessness, since it makes them vulnurable, attackable when they expose themselves or the victim exposes them by squeaking or roaring. Unlike humans, horrendously stupid animals don't survive long, most don't even last a full term/4 years. They don't die their gray hair or "bronze" their face-skin with orange glue either.
Jalapenos are not spicy. Habanero I can eat like snacks. It is not affecting him because he has built a tolerance to the chemical. It is all about training yourself. Further, the Scoville scale is linear, so 100k is just 10x 10k. Thus, when 10k is not very spicy it is not going to make 100k deadly.
I'm pretty sure that the shock wave that broke the barrel on the first test would also have killed the fish. So, in that way, the idiom is confirmed. Ok. I should probably have watched the whole video before commenting. Who knew?
