I have watched a lot of versions of this dance, and this is one of my favorites. The section with the suzudaiko tambourines is so unforgiving because the dancers need to be perfectly on beat while remaining elegant. Bando Tamasaburo and Onoe Kikunosuke not only have great timing with the music, they also interact wonderfully.
Musume Dojoji originates from the Noh play Dōjōji which refers to the tale of a woman later named Kiyohime, who transforms into a serpent-demon out of rage due to an unrequited love for a Buddhist priest, and then destroys a temple bell in Dōjō-ji where he was hidden by the monks of the temple, thereby killing him. The Noh play relates an event some years later when a new bell is being installed. A maiden dances at the dedication ceremony for the new bell, before revealing herself to be the serpent-demon who had previously destroyed the bell, and leaps into the bell.
About 15-20 years ago, I fell in love with Asian culture at large but especially with Japanese culture, and I don't know why. I am very drawn to its literature, music and dance and culture. I really enjoy performing. I have never been to Japan but I feel that sometime in my past that I have-- in a past life. It's the only reasonable explanation I have for it. Is there anyone that can help me with this, free of charge out of the goodness of their heart? I will save this video in a Playlist and check back sometime soon to see if someone answers. This world is too unsafe for me to post my email address here. Thank you for your understanding.
@cyanoticpsychic5585 Thanks for your reply 🙏 Sorry for any misunderstanding. I believe that the reason I'm so attracted to Japanese culture is that I feel I may have been Japanese in a past life. I've always enjoyed singing and dancing and I've sang solos and karaoke as well, so who knows? Maybe I myself was a geisha! So, just looking for guidance with that. If you can't help, that's OK. I'm reading a book by Sylvia Browne, "Blessings From the Other Side," so that may help. Thanks for reading my post!
i think others theories can help and inspire, but in my experience listening to your intuition and trusting yourself, listening to more than just words, is the thing that will help you sort through all the information and opinions out there, and determine what is right for you ✌️ you are the only one who can and should decide how to live your own life
