This was a good combination of previous videos and good to know the challenges that will be faced on landing. Although I am a little anxious, I'm not sure what would change my mind at this point, but I think up to 2 years of life in Canada will be the test when I arrive in May. In 2019 I moved from Canada to Switzerland. When I asked about data limits on my mobile people looked at me weird. Canada has its advantages but technology wise it's behind. As for food it's either good quality food or budget friendly food in Canada and any other place. When I moved to Canada in 2014 I was shocked how many ppl were homeless there. It's hard sometimes and lot of people are landing on a street. I even considered coming back to Canada, applied for a jobs and got interviews but Switzerland spoiled me too much. I very much like videos like the one you prepared as it summarizes difficulties awaiting newcomers in a Canada. There is no perfect country and Canada is not perfect, but can be a great place to live.
The best takeaway from this video is what I always remind myself of when it comes to being anxious about all these good and bad sides

As an ‘old’ Canadian I agree with a number of these but to be fair many of the same challenges exist elsewhere for immigrants. I have to push back on the quality of food. The food supply in Canada, including ‘exotic’ foods is healthy and plentiful, though not cheap. If a newcomer relocates to Yellowknife, then yes, I would agree that food security could be more challenging. Bottom line, my guess is that many immigrants to Canada are coming from far worse places. So perspective is important and for those discouraged by Canada, I say good luck.
Agreed, the only thing is some people fail to understand a refugee vs a skilled immigrant. Your point is completely valid for a refugee who s lifestyle change must be beyond their expectation but most skilled workers have good pay and good living conditions, just that the Canadian passport is so strong and most see that as a plus and move here. I also agree that food quality is great anywhere. Canada is truly blessed with its supply chain and fresh produce

The "less stuff the better" can be summarized by: if all of your possessions can fit inside a cab (say 3 large suitcases or boxes), then you are good to go. Else, renting a moving van can become expensive.
I was working recently in Chile. pre-pandemic, other than real estate prices (rent/buy housing), Chile prices were comparable or higher than Canada. Except some local grown food and cell/internet prices. I'd say unlimited data plans in Chile were about 1/3 to 1/2 of the price of Canada. And taxes were already factored in. I agree about the quasi-monopoly of telecom and other companies in Canada.
And totally agree with the status of Universal Health Care. It's like there is no room for competition, care companies (clinics/labs) can charge whatever they want (e.g, the limit paid by the Province). Things only got worse after the pandemic. One needs to wait 1-2 weeks for a phone appointment where the doctor talks to you 5 min, and charges to the Province like $120 (these numbers aren't exaggerated).

U can protect yourself using the very things that you generally carry & are a good weapon when your life is at risk. Rolled up newspapers, strong umbrella, a pocket full of change tied up in a sock, keys carried between your fingers while in your fist, a flashlight about as long as your hand that takes larger batteries...never allow anyone to take you to a different location. Better to be badly injured near people than out in the woods where the scourge of society has privacy. Do NOT always go places by the same route or same time...do not be predictable cus you never know who has been noticing you as an easy reliable target.
Big tip, use a credit union for all your banking. Avoid all the big chartered banks. Credit unions are ‘owned’ by members through a small-fee membership. Their staff are much better trained, their fee structure is much fairer, and they offer all the services of a chartered bank. Credit unions are very very popular on the Prairies. I don’t know about Toronto or Montreal. In Quebec, a credit union is called ‘Caisse Populaire’.

Thanks ! I'm a blood born canadian of Caribbean-Latin descent! Born and raise in a big city Mtl was not hard to make friends. It's very liberal there. The "making friends" point has truth to it as even living in a smaller city now its very tight minded but mannerism is great! Variables like milestone stage personality type, location , atmosphere settings, your determination makes a difference in making deep friendships. But it's about being in right seeing to meet like minded ppl.
Small towns are much worse ! Nothing stimulating for young professional unless your there for a particular st project. The other points you mentioned-customer service, health care!! All TRUTHS plus plus. It's frustrating for residents and immigrants trust!
Whenever farmers notice that their crops are not growing well they make use of ethene in order to fasten the ripening of fruits which might affect the taste.
That must be toxic for humans?
@@MakeThatChange Well ethene is present in all green leaves naturally because it is also one of the things that is responsible for their growth but the disadvantages of applying excess of it causes the fruit to loose it's characteristic flavor and aroma and also premature decay of some fruits that are sensitive to it and also fatigue, lightheadedness, confusion, headache and unconsciousness but it depends on the quantity used so it might not be toxic to humans.

I grew up in a similar town in Alberta. As a second Gen Canadian it was great as a kid. There are areas of the city that have their own elementary/junior high schools. And there was 1 high school. There were events though.. There was a Rodeo and the train went by the Wheat Pool. But being close proximity to the city made travel easy. Especially when gas was around 49.9 cents a litre! Sometimes 39.9! I moved to the city for high school though so I saw another aspect :)
Okay now I'm putting off the plan really.
There are many good things as well! Depend on what your goals are.

@@MamaFLB Really statistics say otherwise. In denial if you can’t see the war on dads in family court Canada. FRSAE act of 1996 which enforces child support deliberately violates father’s right to mobility. Not to mention over 90% men/fathers are the ones being enforced. Parents in Canada should have the right to 50/50 Parenting Time Legislation free from discriminatory financial warfare.
My parents were immigrants who didn't know the language. Immigrants normally move to a community where there are others like themselves where they have the same culture, language, and issues like getting a job, place to live, etc. At one time the city of Seattle was 60 per cent from Scandinavian countries. There are other cities that ended up that way during the 50's also. In New York the blocks are also by language and culture. So they have the reputation of little Italy, China town, etc. If you go to Los Angeles the neighborhoods are also going to be hispanic, black, and asian. This is normal. I assume the various groups search for others on the internet to meet and socialize with. Also there are huge regional differences between Canada and the US too. The people in South US, New York, Washington State, and California have gigantic differences and it isn't just the accent and words they use. It will be the clothes, how they socialize, attitudes, and you should assume some regions are not going to get along with others. Some from BC in Canada are going to have nasty things to say about Quebec. A lot of Canada would like Quebec to just go away. A lot in the US would like the same to happen to Texas and a few other insane states. I really dislike working with a New Yorker (they have temper tantrums and I have to treat like children) but people from LA will be glad to go out to lunch, in Seattle you can ask but that won't be common (people blame the Scandinavian influence which also makes us obey traffic lights). IBM tried to get German, Japanese and US engineers to work together. This was a huge failure because of their cultural differences in communication. Europeans are more direct (I would be called opinionated and I am not being critical, just saying my thoughts), Japanese work by consensus and the US falls in the middle. I am from BC so I don't know what eastern Canada is like but I don't recognize my home anymore because of so much immigration. The poor school teachers in large cities have to deal with the influx of children from so many countries and we notice when we get a huge number from some place like Russia because suddenly we have Russian bakeries, or restaurants from X country. A lot of people get into the US buying a business because money always gets you through the system faster. Some asian countries have more status for business owners so I guess they like to move here. Other cultures have more status for doctors or whatever profession their culture decides is better. Even how loud someone speaks or how close they stand next to you is cultural and can be annoying to others. It isn't easy to mix so many types of people but there are benefits. What is funny is that Hispanics already here can sometimes be nasty to those arriving now but of course they have many different cultures in South America and apparently the Mexicans are quite nasty to those traveling North.

Hello I just found your channel and found out you are an engineer too. So my question is a have a diploma of civil engineering from a university in France. If they accept my immigration to Canada do I need to do again some years in a Canadian university because of different codes or I can work directly as an engineer?
Google how to get Professional Engineer licence in the province of your interest. There's a lengthy process that varies from province to province.
Until you get P.Eng you can be an Engineer in Training (EIT) or work in engineering field but without signing and stamping documents, e.g. as an engineering coordinator/specialist/designer, or project manager/coordinator etc.

Please check the requirements for licensing depending on the province of your interest. All of your questions will get cleared once you start reading steps to become licensed.
Time will depend on your education, wether you need to take additional exams and how soon you can gain Canadian experience under P.Eng supervision.
The whole process is individual and some steps vary from province to province.
In the meantime any engineering job that doesn't require P.Eng in description will do.

A lot of Canadas problems stem from its population. Or lack of population.
Put that together that we live next to the largest economic vacuum in the world.
For instance Health Care. People become Doctors in Canada because it cheaper than the States. Yet work in the States because they can make significantly more money.
According to size we are secound in the world. According to population we don’t even come in the top 30.
So find somewhere outside the top 30 in population that you are familiar with compare prices there.
You got me wondering about the Apple thing. We have always had Apples year round in Southern Ontario. Ever since I can remember.
I’ve been to several orchards. Even a winery where I was first introduced to Apple Ice Wine. Which is a treat in itself.
As a child I remember going to “The Apple Place” in Simcoe , Ontario and getting Apples every week with parents.
Getting novelty items like Apple butter , Apple cider, and other less popular items like freeze dried Apple chips.
I know of course Apples are better in Season from farm. However, isn’t everything?

I am pretty sure that canadians donate enough casual clothes to get them for free. As for winter gear, it's better to save up some money and buy it in Canada. So no need to bring all the closet really.
There are some organizations that help donate clothes, on the flip side many organizations that accept clothes donations RESELL it ( with big markdowns)

Why would you pick up and leave Russia with very limited financial resources? As a Canadian I would never think of moving to a different country unless I had more than sufficient amount of funds to work with. But, that’s me though.
It's not always easy for countries with devalued currencies to evaluate their future expenditures in countries with strong currencies.

Here's something newcomers need to consider if they can't afford the rent, if they can't afford the puppy, don't ask for a $200 or $300 dollar reduction during viewing, ask before hand. We don't appreciate time wasters when there are 3 others inquiries who can afford our products. Look for rentals, in your price range. If you're wanting a pup for $1000, look at dogs advertised at $1000, not $1350. A Canadian is polite yet silently thinks to themselves, what are you ever going to do for me, nothing! We give plenty to others via our tax system and donations. If we made sacrifices, lived in one room or a basement suite, saved until we had references and enough for better, excuse me but we expect you to do the same and not burden us with high expectations. Fact, if we went to your homeland to live, they would provide, fuck all.
Some cultures just naturally bargain. It is simply part of their culture.

However if the person you're bargaining with spends $125 to commute to do business with just the bargainer and they were not upfront with wanting $350 off of a $1350 puppy, their selfish c#nts. They should see if the person selling is flexible, don't screw me over by conning me, asking what form of payment I take, arrange to meet me and then say, "I only have $1000 for a dog", because you're going to leave with fuck all and I just wasted four hours commuting. I no longer ask for a reasonable price ever, I ask for $2000 and let the AH chisel from $2000.
Same with managing a building, I didn't mind providing to low income, they pay. Then you get an immigrant or two who screw you, thus you raise the rents to avoid the problems. And then others bitch and moan that rents are too high.

We are censored like never before. Anyway COVID-19 vaxx was added to the list. As always they are "recomanding" it to provide the ilusion of choice. If you decide not to, good luck to get your work viza. My wife was fired by Interiot Health Authority last year for making the "wrong" choice. We ended up moving to Georgia to escape the Canadian Medical Tirany. I hope you will receive this message.

Особо не замечали, все адекватно относятся к взрослым и детям - ничего не поменялось, с нашего опыта и опыта друзей с детьми. Yepp. Canada has a lot of weird laws. Can’t disturb the growth of a tree in any way on municipal grounds in Oshawa.
Can’t play a musical instrument so loud it disturbs the peace in Windsor.
Can’t curse or swear in a park in Toronto.
If that’s the kind of thing that bothers you. You really should not come to Canada.
The U.S.A. is for you. If your rights are more important to you than everyone else’s rights. You should go to States.
If you don’t understand that these laws are designed for the common good. Not your personal welfare. Than you really belong in States.
But just a little clarity. There are likely a minimum of 10 trees you could climb in Oshawa for 1 you could not.
Could not find any record of that law being enforced in Oshawa. However, did find a record of a similar law being enforced in Toronto once. Let me say that again. Once.
Apparently in most instances they ask you to get out of tree and people do. No harm done.
