- I use the Sony 200-600mm lens and their a6700 APS-C camera to photograph some migratory birds during spring migration at Enterprise South Nature Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Sony gear did a great job helping me capture these pictures.
In this video, I mentioned that most of these birds were first of season for me but I realized that I have photographed a Prarie Warbler, Indigo Bunting, and Yellow Breasted Chat a few weeks earlier that I forgot about. LOL

Awesome photos! Taking photos like the turtle make me miss a simple flip up screen.
Thank you! I agree, a tilt screen would have been easier but the full flippy screeen of the a6700 worked well too. It did take a couple of extra seconds to set it up though.
Some beautiful shots Phil. Nice combo for bird photography. Thanks for sharing the video
Thank you, Adrian!
Glad I found your channel here when searching for A6700 and Bird Photography. Although the A6700 doesn't have Bird Eye Focus, it looks like it does real well with birds. Thanks for making These videos
Thank you very much! But I do have one correction, the A6700 does have bird eye detect auto focus!
@@PhilThach Wow, digging into the web manual a little more, it DOES have bird eye detect. It wasn't obvious to me! I will stop comparing the A6700 with the A7iv now...have been looking for something with this feature. Thanks again.
Very beautiful photos Phil -I have beside my Canon gear this same Sony aps-c combo -and I agree its a joy to photograph with it ,IQ is superb and birds eye Af works well and you can tweak it in the menu.. Cheers
@@erkkisiekkinen286 thank you!, Yes, I very much enjoy this combination.
Hi Phil. Very nice pictures as always, enjoy your morning videos. Do you usually use the silent shutter in a6700 for perched birds and mechanical for birds in flight or mechanical for everything? Are you using the same camera focus settings for perched birds and birds in flight? I have noticed in your videos that for relatively still birds you go down with shutter speed to around 1/250s. Can you get away with lower one in a6700-200-600mm combination handheld or this is about the limit of stabilization with the lens? Thanks
Thank you! Electronic shutter for perched bird. Mechanical for birds in flight. I use bird eye detect for both but I also use single point for perched and a larger area box for in flight.
@@PhilThach thanks
Amazing pictures ♥️
Thank you!
Beautiful Phil. Now you have me looking to rent this set up again. It really is an awesome body and lens. Since you own it, how is the rolling shutter? 🤗💖
Thanks! I’d switch to mechanical shutter for hummingbirds. It’s fine for perched birds.
@@PhilThach Thank you Phil. I loved shooting that body and how amazing the photos looked. Debating on that set up again or the A9III with a 600 F4..... and you know I would go shoot hummingbirds and the beach. 🤗
I literally just got home from going out myself. Finally got some close up shots of a cedar waxwing. Definitely not as colorful as some of the birds you got. I’ve never seen half of those. Great video and awesome shots as usual. I’ll definitely be watching this a second time.
Thank you! I love the Cedarwaxwing and I think it’s one of the most photogenic birds around. I have seen many of them, but haven’t gotten a good shot in a couple of years unfortunately.
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always
Thank you, Miguel!
Really great shots of the Tanagers.
Thank you!
James again. Joke why did the chicken cross the road. To meet the turtle hee hee.
:)
Nice shots! I really liked the indigo bunting and tanager photos the best. I also liked the low perspective of the 🐢.
Thank you, Stephen!
You always get some gorgeous photos. The second indigo bunting photo is also my favorite. I love tanagers. I have some photos of them from costa rica. They are just beautiful. The yellow breasted chat???? At the end is the one I like the best and who doesnt like a turtle? Haha. Nice work today. 👍📸
Thank you, David! Maybe I will go to Costa Rica one day. I really liked the photos you made down there.
Wow, that turtle photo was amazing!
Thank you! I was very happy with it. I even posted it on my social media accounts.
Great to meet you !
Thank you!
Thanks for another great video Phil. I am lucky enough to have a couple of local spots with Indigo Buntings. Love the variety of shots you got the Prairie Warbler shots were great. You made some great images of them. This year was my first year where I photographed one since it's my first year in the field and they aren't in my backyard. That a6700 and 200-600 is an amazing combo for both photos and video. I wish the EVF and screen were better like you mentioned. I never judge a photo in the field because the quality is so low same with my a7CR. Cheers.
Thank you, Phil!
A nice collection of images.
Thank you, Ron!
Fantastic shots ! You really had a great day.
Thank you!
Good day Phil !
Thanks, Roger!
Love your content I have the exact same setup as well. All these birds left Florida and I’m thinking of traveling north to photograph them.
Thank you!
Beautiful photos Phil
Thank you!
Some fantastic images and thanks for showing me a ton of new colorful birds in your neck of the woods. We hardly get any color out west. Just drab desert colored birds ha
Thank you, your buntings were beautiful in your video today.
Some really great shots!
Thank you, Tim!
Hi Phil.great pics but where's Heather. Best regards from James in Scotland. Keep clicking.
Thank you! She's around but very busy working on her PhD.
@@PhilThach James again. As we say in Scotland she's a clever stick..
Thanks for another good video Phil. I've just bought the 200-600mm for wildlife photography. I've been using the 70-350G up till now and while a nice lens, it's short on reach for some shots. It will be good to have the big lens on my A6700 and the smaller zoom on my A6400.
Been great to view your TH-cam back catalogue as I wait for delivery :)
Thank you! I hope you enjoy your new lens and thanks for watching all the old videos.
Really enjoyed this one. Nice images. You made a great point about the low resolution screens on the 6700. For me, that's the only weakness of this camera. Would love to see this camera with a high res screen.
Thank you, Dan!
Hi, excellent video thank you. How are you getting on with the A6700? I'm thinking about getting myself for my own channel. Thanks
I like the a6700 a lot. I’ll be taking it to Vegas and Anaheim soon because I like the small size. I’ll use the sigma 18-50 2.8 and Sony 11mm 1.8 lenses on that trip.
this photos birds is only RAW no edit? or edit? can You show photo bird with iso 6400 and 10.000 no edit?
These photos are gently edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic and then I run them through Topaz DeNoise AI on it's default settings.
