D&d actually is the easiest Tabletop rpg for newcomers to get into not to put anyone off when they said "rules heavy" cause its actually really good for beginners!dnd got me started in rpgs which helped my transition to pathfinder 2e which i would say is the most rule heavy thing ive seen so far ^_^
favorite part was when the bard said he plays a hurdy gurdy, and then the model was given a lute. truly we as artists have to make due with what we have lol
This is one of your best videos I’ve seen. Friendly banter that doesn’t go over the top, a DM that encourages and says yes to his players, straightforward painting techniques & have a “here’s how to take it a step further” part.
Pity there wasn't a reveal/reaction of the minis being shown to the players, I wanted to see what the Bard thought about his model's glorious headwear.
I really like the detail of the knocked over bottle on the RAAAAAGE!!! mini. Using the edge of the base as a test palette is such and obvious and sensible little hack; it has never occurred to me. The finished minis look ace; great creativity on both sides of the process.
"We had a top hat, a hat with a feather. But why have either of those when you could have whatever this monstrosity is..." That was such a great line. Luv your sense of humor, Dave. Looking forward to the game that comes from these. Looks like some fun characters. I really want to find a reason to go do something on Hero Forge.
Sub optimal? No idea what your talking about. A cleric that doesn't like magic and armour, a bard that doesn't use spells and a barbarian whos really old. Nope I think your dead wrong on this one
Quite enjoyable, Dave does a fantastic job explaining his process. More D&D videos & more Contrast Paints with highlights videos would be fantastic. Well done 👍
If you're hearing this hi jazza, I love your channel and I also like DnD and I loved your minecraft building vid, I am really happy to see you making a dnd video. Keep up the good work!
They all turned out so good! They look so cool and make me want to try painting minis myself! Also I love the idea of going through the character creation. I’m learning how to play D&D and I’m getting the hang of creating the characters but I it would still be nice to have a video for it.
Hi Dave, I have a couple questions for you and I am a new painter of D&D figures. 1) for the first figure you painted what color did you use for the flesh color? 2) I just watched your review on the Vallejo express colors and was very impressed with these 2 videos. I have a basic set of 16 Vallejo paints coming today from Amazon, should I return them and just invest in the Citadel Shades and the Vallejo express, I am conserned now that I won't use the set from Amazon? Thanks for your time, Scott
the hat that you picked for the bard i believe is what the janissaries in the ottoman empire wore. not sure how suitable it is for a bard but the set of characters look amazing nontheless :D
Wish I lived in Australia and you were my friends. 😞 Welp at least I have TH-cam 💕😊 Can’t wait to see the one shot. Those figures came out sweet for a quickie. 👏
The cleric probably ought to be a Divine Soul Sorcerer for best use there with the theme. Though relatively similar to by Rogue Healer that I've played for a while using the Thief subclass and had the Healer feat to run around patching people up
Very funny watching Cogent players make DnD characters hahah they are in for a bombardment lol Also, how was Jazza talked into playing DnD? That’s crazy. Don’t leave Cogent!
Dave in my eyes is now an evil DM. He has a party that's dysfunctional to a bunch of new guys (I assume that because he's dealing with the "heavy lifting" on the sheets) and when Rob said "Eh, I'll be using a thick leather apron" and Dave was "No armour"? BAD DAVE, that's clearly a dex build with Light armour! (Probably Leather or Hide if you stretch enough)
Hahah of course I've made them as optimal as I can (while balancing the fact that we used point buy and he wanted high INT and CHA and WIS .... yeah. His AC aint great (yeah, he got leather armor) The key is to make sure the encounter is fun and appropriate
@@narratordave7831 And "by fun and appropriate" you mean 6+ kobolds in shaded areas/at night for that sweet sweet pack tactics while doing hit and runs, right? LOL
I love the character designs. A guy with a good story is so much more fun to play than a guy made for metta gaming. Plus, I have made over 40 heroforge characters but have no 3D printer 😅 making then is just so much fun.
Contrast paints are nuts, unless it's skill making them look this effortless. I'm currently struggling with my own hero forge mini and am now considering going out for some contrast paint to redo most of it.
Great videos guys I love them all. Quick feedback: I think the lighting when showing painting minis needs work. It often looks blown out and is hard to make out the details especially when painting highlights. Keep it up!
I feel confident in saying that Heroforge is my main game now xD Are those premium models btw? I feel Heroforge models usually look super clunky to me.
I was thinking about you adding a bit of red on Jazza raging form making it like his blood is flushing in Ager . speially on the face chst and shoulders ?
I know you guys have a ton of work with the new studio, but see if you could maybe possibly check out some star wars legions stuff, because honestly the minis are amazing. They are not hero scale so they look great, and the amount of variety in paint schemes. Also I love star wars and would love to see it :]. Nice opening!
The "speed" meta on youtube annoys me so much. Especially when it is linked to "quality". It's fine if you want to paint fast, embrace it. But this always reminds me of the meme where a client asks someone to go fast and then you see an artwork done with 10 hours spent, 1 hour and 10 minutes. Jazza especially should know...but I guess we have to lean into it for the views...
I get where you're coming from, but you are many levels above normal miniature painters, you're an award winning professional. That's incredible and aspirational content, but I don't think there's anything at all wrong creating content that attempts to show people how to get the best results for a table-ready mini as fast and clean as possible. I think you can paint a great quality game-ready mini the average painter can be really proud of, and I think you can learn how to do it fast. I know for myself, though I'm not the best artist out there, I have learned to work extremely fast and get good results. That's my expertise you might say! Agree to disagree - we love your work!
Just what every paraplegic kid wants, to be constantly reminded of their handicap, even in fantasy play! Shouldnt it be offensive to put a wheelchair in there, as though being in a chair in real life is PART OF THEIR PERSONHOOD? WOKE is a mental disorder, i swear to god.
??? Unless you yourself are in a wheelchair, there's no need to get offended on their behalf. Though I must admit that it's hilarious seeing a fantasy character in a modern wheelchair with a pink backpack, and that it's a pretty useless feature
HeroForge makes all kinds of minis, not just for fantasy D&D. Having a character with a wheelchair is really helpful if your character is in a wheelchair.
@@phoenixanimation5652 im not offended on anyone's behalf, im sick of this mental cancer destroying everyone's ability to think rationally. Oh yes im SURE there are TONS of people who had been lamenting not having a fantasy table top miniature in a wheelchair 🙄
Sorry for the re-upload! Render issue quick-fix!
I thought momentarily when I had gotten access to it, that I had managed to gain access to hidden content! XD
dare you to make a custom gundam

I don't know how ANY character could be described as sub-optimal when they have a hurdy-gurdy!
SO much sympathy for you having to do the character sheets, minis and paint them. i had to do that for my group and they gave up after 6 sessions -_-
I'm actually shocked HF still hasn't added Cyclops eye and Medusa hair.
I know 😔

We all know bards need only three spells tops: Vicious Mockery, Shatter and Heat Metal. Everything else is optional.
Quite enjoyable, Dave does a fantastic job explaining his process. More D&D videos & more Contrast Paints with highlights videos would be fantastic. Well done 👍
D&D??? WOW LETS GOOO!!!
NICE VIDEO! ENJOYED IT!
0:57 that was beautiful

Dave expressions the entire video was like he's about to go sicko mode on these people
Hurdy-gurdy whoo! 🎉
Yeah!
Ily Jeremy
I love Heroforge! I like to use it for color scheme testing
I cannot remember recording this. What?
Best outro yet
Very cool to see the before and after of these designs. I'm not a table top gamer but this makes me want to create mini characters just for funsies
Just purchased my first character from hero forge. I’m so excited for it to be delivered and painting it! Thanks for the code also.❤️
Dude hero forge is awesome. Saw a bazooka witch in little witch academia with my daughter and built and designed one to paint up 👌🏼

This is great, i can't wait until I can buy a 3d printer and make a billion minis
The second I saw that hat, I knew it’d fit the character perfectly
Never played any of these types of games but they look awesome and I enjoy listening to Dave while we paint. Also love Dave judging the other guys 🤣

Did this video also disappear for anyone else before reappearing again?
It’s cool you can make them custom

Uh oh, 11:20 you seem to have given your mini a bloody nose
I don't have to outrun the troll, I just have to outrun the wheelchair!

What set of contrast paints would you guys recommend picking up? :) Great vid!
Jazza isn’t going to be happy that his mini doesn’t have a white beard.
I was thinking about you adding a bit of red on Jazza raging form making it like his blood is flushing in Ager . speially on the face chst and shoulders ?
cool vid
Would there be a way to send you a version of ouer created charachters so you could print and paint and use them?
This is a great video, pretty different

Jermeys character looks like if a hobbit became a priest🤣🤣
What size models do you all use for D&D?
anyone know what the contrast paint he used on Jazzas barbarian is called?
Me and my group use hero forge despite the fact we play online just because ots the easiest way to create how our characters look
Honestly had trouble paying attention after I noticed Robs Hamilton hoodie.
I'm surprised you didn't do a zenithal light before the contrast paint, it seems like an easy way to add a lot of value definition with a deadline
The poor chair... it did nothing but support you through the whole video 😱
That moment when Jazza inadvertentlaly created Cohen the barbarian. 😅😅😅
my thought exactly!
That moment where you're fast and haven't finished the video yet but want to comment something 👁👄👁
Instead you just watch the video on 2x speed

I want a hurdy gurdy! Gets a lute. LoL
Haven’t watched, already got the anti depressants ready for when my painting abilities are proven to be inadequate.
I like Dave :)
Jazza wants master roshi
Do greek gods diorama or do hindu gods diorama please its tabletop time buddy 😃
Ai made my charter spent 40 minutes and the accidently clicked out of the tab
Huzzah,, feed the algorithm
Hi
Noooo I was first to comment on the last one
11th comment!!! 10 mins.
🤣🤣🤣
👏👏👏
I love the concept of Hero Forge, I hate the art style. It's much too cartoony.
This is a glorified 18 minute ad that has almost nothing to do with contrast or speed paints
Awesome paint jobs and horrible music. :D
