    It's worth mentioning that testing a lot of strings isn't something you do easily or simply. It takes time and money to continually change out strings, so I think we should all appreciate what is being done here for the wider community.

    There are so many good strings out there! Some are too expensive, for example the RS Lyon that is great overall.
    Others are quite cheap and very good for training.
    If I was going to play just one match today, I'd choose the Kirschbaum Max Power 1.20/17. It had the best feel for 4-5 hours.
    Isospeed make some great strings. I've played with the Cream and recently the Black Fire. Just a bit more powerful than I wanted, but fantastic overall.
    There are many many many choices out there. If you're not competing at a high level, spending more than 14€ per set is too much for me.
    I play at 22kg.

    last hybrid combo i've done totally out of curiosity, went incredibly well. Hyper G soft 1.25 mains and Head Sonic pro 1.25 crosses at 24/23 and it feels very sweet. nice control with a little extra oompf from the Sonic Pro, it's really easy to play and easy spin as well. touch is just right in my opinion. feels nice and comfy. very arm friendly.
    with the same strokes, compared to a full bed Hyper G soft, my balls are flatter in trajectory but i get a nice depth with still a margin of error because the curve is still pronounced. it dips down nice and quick at the end. forehands on chops are net rasant rockets without even forcing on it. i really do enjoy that combo. that much that i think i'm gonna stick with that for the moment. roller of Sonic Pro costs pennies. almost half price of Solinco. which makes it even more appealing.
    i can't recommend it enough. ok i'm a club player, but i'm progressing really quick and my game starts to be shaped. my level is good enough to plan my tactics for points.

    Hi! Not sure if this is the place to ask this but … I was wondering if you’d consider making a video on the the hardest hitters on tour and whether it’s their set up or technique or both that generates the result? Tsitsipas said last year that he’s never played against anyone who hits the tennis ball harder than Alcaraz; Berrettini is often quoted as having one of the most powerful forehands , alongside Ruud, Sinner, Rublev … and before them Del Potro, Wawrinka..etc. Do they have any similarities in racket or string style or it’s mainly their biomechanics generating the power ? Thanks !!

    • @LunarEclipsism1
      @LunarEclipsism1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's all biomechanics, man, same as Iga Świątek on the women's tour. Long loose swings with perfectly-timed forward weight transfer and leg drive, especially with a straighter hitting arm, gives the racket a lot of space for acceleration and increases the length of the effective "lever". At that level of play the racket setups are more about added weight for stability and control-oriented strings, since the player's swing generates more than enough power on it's own, no assistance from the racket necessary.

    Thoughts on hybrids with poly mains and multi crosses?
    I've tried several variations and just don't see why this is a popular pairing. Even if the poly main is round, the soft nylon cross dents after just a few hours of play and locks the mains in place. Doesn't that severely hinder spin generation?

    • @K4R3N
      @K4R3N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, once the mains cannot slide anymore you are playing with a board essentially. The mains must be able to slide L-R to produce spin! Once the *crosses* are notched/dented you should just cut the strings. If the mains are dented/notched only, then that is ok. They will still slide.

      @@nwongs01 Another "friendly arm" hybrid option I am using with my sons 12 & 14 since years ago,
      Main with Isospeed Cream 1,28 mm 23,5 kg or less. (there is 1,23 mm gauge, too)
      Crossed with Head Velocity 1,30 mm (22,5 or 23 kg) natural color.
      I did tests with 24,5 kg main decresing until 22 kg main...always minus 0,5 kg to 0,8kg in crossed...
      IMO..better tension , ready to go was 23kg...or 23,5 kg having at least 1h played before match.
      24,5 kg at Main in winter ( indoor & less 10 C degrees) sounds bit stiff.
      I am stringing for my sons.
      Hybrid is lasting more than 15 or 18h intensive use.
      Flat hitter ( one if my sons) almost 20 h with hybrid. too.
      With 15h use tension is still there to play....then Velocity is starting fraying and after this moment 3 to 5 h only to be played until breaking.
      Velocity black color is fraying quicker.
      Fyi, reverse hybrid...not good enough...Velocity in main is sawed quickly and ball flying more.. without control.

    Cheers to the MSV Focus Hex 1.27 shout out. Great string and affordable, as you mention. Also, try Head Lynx (just Lynx) in yellow. Great feel and good spin for a round poly. Also, a surprisingly effective soft cross string is Wilson Synthetic Gut Power 16, also priced right. For an interesting hybrid, try the MSV Focus Hex shaped poly, crossed with the Head Lynx smooth poly. Extra control and very good feel and spin. The smooth crosses really let the shaped mains glide for extra spin potential and the all-poly hybrid really lets you swing out for good racquet head speed. Not to throw shade, but I really feel Hyper-G is a little overrated. If you really like strings with extreme edges that still have good feel and durability, try Volkl V-Square. You'll be happily surprised. And folks, if you're serios about tennis, get a stringing machine and learn to string for yourself. You can pick up a Gamma drop weight machine for $250-$300, or less used. It will pay for itself in cost saving and fresh string satisfaction for years to come.
