    I'd love to visit that shop, I'm sure i wouldn't be able to afford to buy any antiques though... If the girl was there singing again I'd just relax and enjoy her beautiful voice!

    I love this show! Love Danielle's tattoos! Of course that stuff is high priced, it takes a lot to acquire it. They may spend 8 hours at one location to get the shots right. I can see why an old guy would tire and say he's done with them. I hope American Pickers continues until they both retire. It's just entertaining to watch them find stuff in old buildings. The price tags? It's a MUSEUM, folks. You don't go into George Jones' Auto Museum and look for price tags. You're there to look and connect and buy a tee shirt on your way out.

    Have you ever watched American Pickers ? Please show me the episode where they are in the field picking and there are price tags on the items. In the store some people might expect a price tag, atleast for a starting point, but if not, I would jump to some ridiculous conclusion.

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    did you not see the hit & miss in the back of the truck in part 2 of the car show from last weekend?

  • @mmmmmvodka
    @mmmmmvodka 11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I would guess the reason they don't have prices on them is because they're unique and antique. Which means there is no set price for them. More than likely you have to call and ask, and make a deal with them going back and forth. Not only that, what was once worth 50 bucks 30 years ago may be 500 bucks today. Which means the price will change for an item every year. So yeah, I completely understand the no price tag. Makes sense to me.

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeah you could be right, i don't like to dicker to find out what something is worth though, give me a price and let me dicker from there.. like at a car lot or something , give me a starting off point at least ya know?

    • @charlesbuchanan6550
      @charlesbuchanan6550 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mmmmmvodka gee, and to think most professional antique dealers actually price their items because they would like to make a sale!

    • @charlesbuchanan6550
      @charlesbuchanan6550 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DaddytechEnt or give an actual selling price at least. Its a flipping museum to the show.

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well they do actually sell things but they want you to negotiate a price rather than just saying they want X amount of dollars. they should at least give you a starting off suggestion which is all i was looking for to begin with. since they haggle like they do i assumed it was all negotiable within reason

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah i wonder why they don't restore those things too. thought that was the whole reason for picking and buying this stuff in the first place, guess not. i'll see what my neighbor is into lately and see if i can't get into some more mischief with him.

    Mike and the gang make a very good living from the show. I don't know how much but at least $20,000 per episode. They seem to sell nothing. Stuff they bought 5 teats ago are still in the Iowa store. the Nashville operation is just selling to tourists. I have been in antique business for over 50 tears and a picker dos not hold. He lets the other feller sit on it!

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DaddytechEnt  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah i think that's kinda like a staple here, that's how you know you're in Nashville , live music in every store. some of them though it's not side jobs, that's all they do.

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    well the thing is the only people there were actually all hiding behind the counter or in the store room. and in this area if you want to sell things you put price tags on it or it sits there :o) i don't haggle on anything any more, it could be good if i did but i still at least need a jumping off point.

    There are actually people out there that believe one can make a living picking on the road!If it wasn't for the show,theres no way 3or 4 people could make a living doing this,The money made at these retail outlets doesn't much more than pay the utilities.Its all bogus,but an incredible idea,Whoever came up with this idea for a show was deserving of any success.

      +Lee Watkins It was Mike's idea. By the way, I'm a picker in California & while I don't make a lot of money doing it, it's fun and still profitable.

    • @craigdaubbeats-rapinstrume9185
      @craigdaubbeats-rapinstrume9185 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One can make a living picking but not the way they do it on the road. I make a living doing it myself just going to auctions and thrift stores. There are tons of people doing it on eBay. But you're right, there's no way one could do it on the road like they do. One thing the show did was showed people that one can make a living picking though. It's just not the way they do it. It's more of a local thing. It also depends on where you live as to how much profit is actually out there. I started out just stalking Facebook and Craigslist for free stuff about 2 years ago. Now I have an eBay store with almost $40k worth of inventory. It took a lot of work and time to build up, but it is doable if you're determined to make it work.
      Lots of people believe all the reality TV shows are real. They're all fake to a certain degree. My favorites were all the repo man shows that everyone thought was real. Lol

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    lol yeah i realized when i saw all of the stuff in that store that i they picked from each of the different shows that i had watched way too much myself. of course i don't sit there waiting for my shows any more either, thank God for DVR's

    I've been planning on visiting this place for a long time and I'm a big fan of the show, so you guys are saying you can't buy anything and it's nothing more than a t shirt shack? I was wanting to buy something but now I'm wondering about it,let me know please

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ACE Champion you can buy stuff there but there are no price tags on anything so you have to dicker back and forth with them for whatever you want t o buy there it's more like a museum that you can buy stuff at but if you're not loaded up with money the onlyy thing you can really afford in there is an antiques& arcehology t-shirt or bumper sticker.

    • @sloanchampion85
      @sloanchampion85 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DaddytechEnt thanks because I wouldn't even to waste a trip if buying something wasn't possible...I don't need any T shirts..they're always saying what they are buying is for the store..sometimes I wonder if they don't sell it in the store and it's just a front

      Howrhu Self i'd love to tell them a lot of things! bad thing is they are never here in the Nashville Store when they are in this area it's just for a very short time they are here, they unload and they are gone before anyone even knows they are in town. they are usually at the Iowa store a little more frequently than here.

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    they have different people in there on different days or weekends from what the people that go there often were saying , this was my first time, can't imagine why i would go back again though. the stuff they have there is neat but i don't have the kind of money they spent on stuff let alone anything more :o)

      I just received a tee from Antique Archeology that I ordered on line. Very disappointed in the quality! Really cheap, thin cotton and screen printing. I bought the shirt on sale for $21 plus $7 shipping. The original price tag had $35 on it. They've got to be kidding! I'll probably get 2 or 3 washing's with it before goes away.

    So when they go on the road to pick farm fresh antiques out in the middle of nowhere there are no pricetags on the items that they seek to buy so therefor they dicker back and forth with the owner for a mutual price so at their stores they want the potential customer and fans to do the same henceforth nopricetag which is wrong cause it's storefront setting !!!

    i was referring to in the store. out in the field for the show yeah you expect them to bargain and dicker back and forth on the price of things that's the whole nature of the show i get that but in a proper store there should be price tags even if they are a jumping off point at least you have an idea of where to start from. i'm not a "junk" or antiquities dealer so i would have no clue at all what to offer for some of the stuff there and i wouldn't want to offend anyone with a rediculous offer

  • @DaddytechEnt
    @DaddytechEnt  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yeah that was my point to what i was talking about in this video. it's crazy but you'd have to really want something enough to corner one of the people to ask them about the prices. i personally wasn't that impressed by anything that i know was for sale.

    the engine you wasn't sure about is a 1937 knucklehead in great condition they got the rolling frame that went with it also and some other parts. the reason I know this is they got it from my dad they got a bunch of other stuff that didn't make it on the show. they screwed my dad (my family) on most of the stuff especially the knucklehead

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's weird you know they never show people after word or other people's opinions. i actually watched the show they picked those things up on but i couldn't remember the particulars about it like the year or whatever else they got with it. so rather then sounding like an idiot and incorrectly quoting things i just say "i don't know/ i don't remember" sorry they stuck it to your dad like that but why did he sell to them if they were screwing him over? they wouldn't have left my house without paying me what we agreed to.

    • @athleticfreedom5760
      @athleticfreedom5760 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your dad accepted the offer of the money. I don't think that is screwing somebody over. Your dad could have declined the offer couldn't he? And in a few instances I have seen Mike and Frank give people extra money when they have things appraised.

    Its more like a museum, these are all props....its basically a store to sell their T shirts etc.

  • @phoenixdynamometer1
    @phoenixdynamometer1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is interesting is the fact that on the show they are always trying to reduce the price they pay for an item because they say "I will give you this dollar amount because I will only be able to get a certain dollar amount in my store" or "when i sell it in my store I have to have room for the buyer to knock me down a bit". None of the items they are picking are for sale in the store so are they just lying to the people they are buying from? Are they just knocking people down on the prices so they can add the items to their personal NFS (not for sale) collection?

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      no they actually do have the items for sale in the store, and they are all items they picked on the show but they want you to walk in and make them an offer, there are no price tags on anything or no jumping off point for the negotiations process. that's what i was so torn up about. i've never been in an actual "store" that did things that way before.

    • @phoenixdynamometer1
      @phoenixdynamometer1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was just in the Iowa store last month and all the 99.5% items have tags on them that say NFS (not for sale). More than happy to sell you a 0.5oz t-shirt for $25 bucks though. I did buy a nice coffee mug but was surprised to see the tiny little price sticker on the bottom was exactly the right size to cover up the "Made in China" marking perfectly. Very sneaky in my opinion especially from a couple of guys that are all about "Made in America".

    If you want to buy something you better do your homework & watch the episode where they bought the item. So many times on the show you see what they paid for it & how much they'll for to $ell. Then… you offer them less. At lease you'll have an educated guess about the "asking" price on some of their stuff that doesn't have a price listed.

    The very nature of the Picking business makes it relative. By that I mean, you might be willing to pay $500 for an old bicycle that your grandfather used to have at his home when you were a child. Just seeing the bicycle conjures up great memories of him. So to you, there is value there. But to someone else, there is little to no value because they don't share the memories or nostalgia that you do with that item. That is the only reason I can see why they would not have pricing.

    The store is very small its also in run down part of town with alot of boarded up buildings

      @DaddytechEnt  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      not as much run down as it is sort of abandoned. any business that is there isn't doing much business at all and the ones that do live there are usually only there late in the evening. there are a lot of boarded up buildings yes but that weeble looking mayor promised to revitalize that part of town too. (yeah right)

    I made the video and the price tag even for the negotiable stuff is a jumping off point. you don't just let the stuff sit there with nothing at all on it. who does that if you are really into selling things as they claim to be.

    liked the old motorcycle, shame they havnt bothered to restore it.
    Im possibly too harsh, i enjoy the banter between you and your neighbour much better than junk collections.

    I wasn't saying that you didn't know what you were talking about I was just letting you know what it was. I know what they bought it for and it's worth 3 times what they give for it. me and my brother was not happy about it after it was all said and done. we wasn't with him on the show or things would have been a little different. we were there but not allowed to be on the show. I could say a lot about the show but I'm going to

      i was meaning i wasn't there and i really don't know much about how things work i used to watch it all the time but my DVR blacks it out now. maybe that's a sign that i shouldn't watch any more. specially if they are screwing people over. i only know what i saw on tv and any more i'm beginning to doubt all of what i read and half of what i see soo....

    Never saw so much crap in one location. Sad thing about this is that because of the money they pay for "rusty gold" (AKA garbage), many folks think that stuff they have is worth a fortune.

    I could do w/o the constant "live" music. I guess it appeals to some, but the nonstop approach is a bit much, to the point that it would significantly limit my time spent in the store. If that's their goal, they've accomplished it. Kinda disappointed at the variety of objects being offered. I think they could display much more if they took up less space selling T shirts. Have one shirt of each design displayed - period. Easy enuff for cashier to give the customer their desired size at check out. This alone would probably give them 25% more display area.

      maybe you need to pick a better computer to view it with. it's a 1080P video that no one has had any issue with till you, it is dark and a little fuzzy in spots because of that. but over all it was finethis was done with a new at the time Canon point and shoot pocket camera. Had i owned Any of my Sony camcorders at the time it wouldn't have even mattered that it was a little dark
