Budget have scared me outta doing vfx when i was a younger dev lol, but seeing more artists chuck meshes and particles willy nilly gave me more confidence. I think it was qbieshay saying that her time beam piece took 35 godot nodes is what broke me out of it fully
Do you also have that kinda monitor that changes color depending on view? when i see non pure white backgrounds, i see noisy purple patterns when looking indirectly at the monitor
@@gonderage viewing angles are determined by the panel type, TN panels are the worst for it, IPS can vary but generally their decent and VA can either be dreadful or decent, - Oled screens do not have any color shifting.
Just found this channel yesterday and watched all your videos, so I was very excited to see this uploaded today! Would love to see more specific VFX breakdowns in the future maybe. Those have been really helpful to reinforce the fundamentals and think about how to layer different effects. I'd also love to hear about your itteration process, hearing about the sword slash and your thought process on why something does or doesn't work would really help. Great video, as always. You've become a big inspiration!
thank you ! i dont give breakdowns much focus on the channel because i feel like im just repeating the same points over and over for each effect compared to my vfx essays where the topics vary but you make good points about reinforcing fundamentals and showing thought processes ill give it some thought :)
that's fair they should animate exactly at the same time through the shader so if you hit pause you might see the difference better but honestly it's not too significant and i mightve chosen a bad example for that part 🤔🤔 sorry about that
It's kinda "hidden" by the fact that they are processed (stretched and scrolled (I think)) by the shaders. But you can see some differences at the pointy edges of color transitions. The high-res version has more of those "spikes", while the low-res is more "blobby". But I think it just shows that the texture and its quality is not everything, and shaders can do a lot of work

yeah ! we have more budget than we usually box ourselves into 🙏 but still important to think about while making VFX
"Gopher it." You got me with that one. Solid video!
thanks ! :D
Great vid, but the background not being pure white made me scared that my monitor is dying.
pure white background was too jarring 😔🙏
@onetupthree Thanks! I watch these videos late at night, usually, so I appreciate you not flash banging me with 1000 nits of pure white.

Am i the only one seeing no difference between well optimised and too well optimised ?
