When ever it was dark when I was like 4 or 5 I would start crying and screaming. the same if it started raining I would scream, idk why I was so scared but now I find it calming when its raining and its dark.

i think the reason we love this so much it's the wipers mimicking a heartbeat, and the muted traffic sounding like what life is like in the womb. and the associated feeling of safety from being driven by one's parents. very soothing

At ten years old I was released from the hospital almost 200 miles from home. It rained the whole drive. I slept on the back seat and I still believe it’s one of the best sleeps I’ve ever experienced. Healing. 💜

Do you ever just read someones comment and think that all these people, are actual people. Like, someone on the other side of this planet, writing down his or her thoughts. Someone who lives their life, and do things just like you, and have this childhood memories from sitting in the backseat while mommy or daddy is driving. There's some comfort in that, and that we all find comfort in reading peoples nostalgia or memories. Its beautiful, and makes me think of how much alike we are, even though we are so far away, and may never cross each others paths, except from this comment section on a random youtube video.
yeah, and how their idea of comfort is different from ours. my idea of my grandmothers house is safe and nostalgic, but to them it’s not, it’s so weird. only some of my friends houses are nostalgic and genuinely safe to me

@@shaibrry same bro. I live in France and my family came from Hungary. I go there every summer and sometimes during Christmas. The feeling of going to my grandma's house there is something truely amazing and conforting. I am always so nostalgic about it i love to go there and think about my childhood memories.
My grandma is old and will probably pass away soon so i know it will soon be over. It's tough, but it's life i guess. Cheers

It is heartwarming, and oddly scary how a lot of us remember nights in the car as children so well that we remember waking up because we felt the last turn towards our home. It truly is crazy. 💜

So many nights I brought my boy home from ball games, carnivals. spook houses (Halloween), etc, and he fell asleep the moment we left the parking lot. When we finally pulled in the drive he always pretended he was still asleep and didn't hear me wake him up so I would carry him in and put him to bed... I'm kind of an old guy now and my back isn't what it used to be and my boy is all grown up but... I wish I could carry that little boy just one more time off to bed...

I'm watching this video and reading the comments on my first night in my own apartment, away from my parents. I have been fine all day, excited for moving even. Don’t worry. I moved out 20 years ago and a little while ago I sat in a van driven by my dad while vacationing in Maui and it was raining. You will still have these opportunities to create memories with your parents and perhaps you’ll create new memories with someone new that you love.

I remember when I was young, no responsibilities, not a single problem to worry about.
One of my favorite things was when my parents would pick me up from cadets, and it was always right around the time when it would rain.
I remember lying down on the back seats, and immediately getting sleepy, the hum of the wheels and rain gently tapping on the windows lulling me to sleep.
I would always feel the last turn before my house and wake up, but pretended not to be so my parents would carry me inside.
It's the most relaxing I've ever felt to this day.

Honestly, no matter how old I get, I don't think I'll ever stop savoring the magical feeling of a rainy day, looking out the window every hours or so at school or work and seeing it's still pouring down rain, I really want to move somewhere it rains more often because I love it so much, but I'm worried if I experience it too often, it'll lose its magic, so I think I'll stay out for now, it's just something I think about sometimes, if you've never tried soup at the end of a rainy day, do it, it's a wonderful experience, I personally love chicken vegetable soup and cornbread, because you eat all the actual food out of the soup and there's still more juice(?), so you still get to dip the cornbread in it. What a wonderful experience. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't eat cornbread, I love it, I kind of want to sell cornbread, but I cook it with food coloring, and I'd live in a small house or apartment with my pet bird, who will be parrot that I will name carrot, and I'd sell cornbread from my little shop called like colorful cornbread or something, what a life that would be. I don't know what this comment is, but I just wanted to sit here and type this out, because this feels like the place for it, if you've read this far, or are reading this bit at all, or even if you're not, if you're watching this video, I hope you remember to enjoy the little things, life is hard sometimes, but i like to think about little things when it feels like too much, like I enjoy looking at geese, and eating soup, and watching the rain, and I'm so glad I get to experience all of these things, and I hope you get to experience every single one of them and more, goodbye.

I remember visiting my grandma in Texas when I was about 5, there was a lightning storm with many different colors and it was late at night. i was supposed to be asleep, I'm now fifteen and she passed away 2022 February due to cancer she had been battling for years.
before she died we drove for am entire day and night straight. my dad has a history of mentally illness and was barely holding it together. we got to my grandma's about two hours before she passed, she met my toddler little sister for the first time. she waited and held on for us. I miss her, i miss her horse frankie and her kitty Oliver. I miss those cookies she had left in the kitchen when I slept on the couch, I miss playing my leapfrog until 10pm while hearing her and my parents spoke with my grandpa. he sold the house I think, my grandpa. he moved at least. he now is in Oregon. we send letters every once in a while. I got a lot of my grandmother's jewelry and some clothes. I got her books and family ancestry. I got fake flowers from her craft room as well. I miss her so dearly, and didn't talk to her nearly enough. Kate, I love you. Shane, I love you Jim, i love you and Rome, I love you. I've dealt with loss too many times in my life and I'm not even 16 yet. I'm going to another funeral on the 12th of this month. the day before opening night of a musical I'm in. I wonder if shane for to drow up if he would be proud, or be friends with Mav and Ty. would he be a sports kid? quiet? my brother passed at 4 months old ten years ago. itll br eleven years the 20th of this month. I still can't handle grief. I hate this and my previous thoughts of death are coming back. I'm so scared of my own thoughts. I just want to lie down and sleep, and wake up happy and rested. I want my parents to be happy and not fight and scream at 4 am when he comes home. I want decent relationships around me and to be able to express who I am as someone who is a different religion in my christan family and as a transgender person in a transphobic family. I just want to be happy but I know it'll never happen. I would be stupid to think it's ever going to get easier. goodnight everyone, I'm tired.

I remember when my class this year went to New York by plane around the sundown and we took a bus and it was raining and around 11 PM. We were all so tired and could barely move so, our teacher carried the lightest kids and took us to bus. We all fell asleep on each other's shoulders, laps, or created cuddle piles in the back. I remember me and my friends made a cuddle in the bunk bed the bus had. It was the only moment we had because we are a special ed class.

Since everyone else is sharing, I remember this one time me, my sister, my mom and my dad were on our way back from the beach and it started to downpour, and it was all just so claming. Knowing that I was there in that moment and shared it with my family. I remember laying down on my sister's lap, as she played with my hair. We all stayed silent and I drifted off to sleep. I will never forget that night. I miss it, when everything was so much simpler. I wish you all the best of luck on your journey through life.

Ive been reading yall comments i read about 1000 or so, 2 hours before I said I would go to bed. I have no clue why but I feel like a changed person. As we get older we remenense on the things we loved as a child. Like watching two raindrops race. Or Knowing when it was your turn onto your street. Or faking sleep to be carried. When my daughter Gabi was born, we got to spend the night in the hospital room. It was summer time and it rained that night. It was the most relaxing night I had in a very long time😌
university days was so stressful. whenever i feel tired I would just ride a bus with no destination on mind and I would just sit on the farthest back corner with my headphone on and play rain with thunderstorm sound on loop. i would be riding the bus for hours until we reach the last stop. some days it would actually rain and I wont have to wear headphones. for some reason I feel like I dont have any responsibility when I'm on the bus, like all the things on the world dont matter and my priority is to make myself as comfortable as possible during the whole ride. miss those days where I could just runaway for few hours but now... the consequences of delaying things are just... sigh

I don't get the idea of rain being depressing, sad weather. Rain makes me comfortable and happy, allows me to think more clearly. Sunny days are great here and there but eventually I get so burnt out on them and start to feel depressed even.

For me rain is one of the most beautiful sounds to listen to. I don't think I could sleep well without the sound of rain anymore. It helps me so much to calm down and clear my thoughts and mind.
Me too, these moments makes me feel weird, like I am not in the real world but a distant reality, a dream before going back to the hell that is the real life ...
I've always had this thing where if I close my eyes and let myself drift away, I can pretend I'm somewhere else. Not only pretend, but feel like I'm somewhere else. I could be sitting at my desk and then close my eyes and feel like I'm on a couch at home. I could lay down anywhere and concentrate, and suddenly I'd feel like I was in my bed. But the car is different. It's harder to pretend I'm somewhere else because being in a car is so distinct. The faint rumbles, the muffled sounds of traffic, the flashes of gentle light panning across the windows as cars pass by, and if it's raining... it's hard to imagine those windshield wipers. There's something so cozy about long car rides where you have nothing to do but sleep, cozy up with a pillow and some blankets, knowing that your destination is far, far away... all you have to do is wait...
I am exactly the same way. I am 45 and have the imagination of a 5 year old.....but having this peaceful video doesn't make me have to use so much brain....I can just listen and relax to it until I fall asleep

I like watching the beautiful rain and I like the sounds, however this won't work for sleeping for me. I have never fallen asleep in a car. I just can't imagine myself at the point of putting my life into someone else's hands while I am asleep! I may have fallen asleep in a moving vehicle as a very young child, but I have been awake for every car trip that I remember.

I miss this feeling of that one turn to know when your home. Or to actually be excited to go to school and see your friends early in the morning. Now days I dread going to school. Those friends I had back then either moved or are popular and dropped me. I’m the kid sitting in that back with 3-2 friends in all periods. Sometimes I even ask the teacher to go to the bathroom just to cry. Just why?
Sorry, dude. Everything you said made me vividly remember being in school, middle school especially. Props to you though for making it to a bathroom, I would just cry in class or the library or wherever I was at the time. It still happens sometimes and I'm 31 now. Life can be really hard, and time is a strange thing. But it does get easier, and it can also be truly beautiful. Even if it's the little things like memories from the backseat of a car on a rainy night. Just remember there's people out there that care about you. I truly hope this finds you well and that you're doing okay

Usually I can tell where we are on my street by memorizing the bumps and sounds that happen when my parents drive down it. Strange. We’ve driven down our home streets thousands of times, enough to pinpoint exactly where we are on it.

It makes me remember one early morning being in the backseat of our old car when I was 5 or 6. My mom sat in the backseat next to me because we had grandpa and were taking him 4 hours away to Seattle to see his heart doctor 8am or 9am appointment. I just remember the talking of my dad and grandpa and I remember the rain once we got to the mountains and waking up to it then going back to sleep. It was still dark except random street lights and the rain got heavier towards Seattle. Mom woke me up to watch the sunrise as we still drove.

I always loved when me and my family ( while my mom and dad were still together and my mom was still alive) went on vacation. Not because of the destination but for the journey, we didn't have alot of money for flight tickets so we went by car. I can remember us going to Italy and armored with my Nintendo DS I sat on the backseat. We always left at 8 pm to avoid traffic. After playing on my DS for a while and watching outside I grew tired. My dad drove most of the time and I was with my mom on the backseat, I could always lay my legs over her lap and head on a pillow and fall asleep with the rain softly ticking on the window. I fell asleep on a fastlane surrounded with a few cars and nothing but the darkness beyond that yet when I woke up, mountains as big as I never saw would greet me together with my mothers voice saying good morning:)
