Those "messed up graphics" are called "hall-of-mirrors" effects because, well, that's what they look like. The object in question has nothing to render and so the video buffer is never cleared between frames, causing the image to persist. Effects like bloom, blur, noise, etc. result in gradual fading while full-buffer refreshes clear the ghosted images. It's not just a matter of "the object is black", but rather "the object isn't drawn".
This is done to save on resources; less time spent rendering something you'll never see improves the overall FPS and reduces slowdown from having to render lots of objects, though rendering isn't typically what causes most FPS drops from my experience. That honor goes to having too many objects each needing AI or collision processing.

At least they fixed that bug that lets you draw on screen with Tanooki Peach
The only cursed thing here is tanooki peach in pounce mode.

I managed by complete accident to spawn the hand from snapshot mode on the world map in 3D World.

Actually yesterday i got softlocked by interacting with an invisible bunny. Idk how, a big bunny in bowser's fury went invisible and when i noticed (like 2/3 hours of gaming later) there was just a still bunny glow and when i touched it (not on plessie) it didnt play any animation and just softlocked me. Thats why i love autosave
