own of these. The mic is way different since it is made for it to hear human voice as much as you can inside a noisy plane. So it's not the same

Pilot headsets it not good for sound! We connect them on the aircraft, which will be connected to the radio (of course) and its main reason is to have a good mic so things become understandable and to isolate the sound, specially if you are flying light aircrafts like a Cessna 152 or 172, the engine sound is very fucking loud.
Also, battlefield and arma definitely HAS NOT good aircraft simulation. Even microsoft flight simulator is better, but the best is X-PLANE

Just to make a point: These headphones are not designed for use as a gamingheadset. The lacking bass makes sense for an aviatorheadset, because if you have lots of bass on your radio it can get pretty washy and impossible to understand. The mic however should be pretty high quality, because it it is critical to understand each other clearly in aviation. The jack is a different standart as in the gaming compartmend. This headset fits a whole different kind of applications and really shines there, while a gamingheadset with its massive bass and poorly mic would go under and maybe get thrown out in mid flight.

Barq83 dude ive played arma over 400 hours and half of them was flying with the advanced model but its still not as realistic as lets say dcs because they just dont care that much. something EXTREMLY important like the thing that happens when you get to much vertical speed downwars (very unprofessional terms ik but i dont remember the samrt shortages of them so bear with me) and simulations like if you have to much collective your rotor rpm gets low and shit starts happening and stuff like that and i believe ground effect is not even moddeled but yes it a more realistic apporach than other games ubt jets are very unrealstick though really really unrealistick

Lack of bass is purposely built because it is suppose to made the speech clearer and not muddy. Similiar to the old time cinema/tv/radio where people speak in weird accent and trumpet are prevalent in music because higher end sound is delivered more clearly.

Flight and tanker helmets already are headsets themself. Ballistic/Tactical helmets do need a special mount for their earpiece or just wearing a headset under them.
Much like this headset in the video, you'd just need an adapter (or a powered mixer is even better). Hope you find those specific videos

As a pilot, here is my input. That's one of the cheapest and worst headsets you can get, those are the type that people usually buy three of to hand out to passengers they're taking, not something that the pilot will ever use (usually). Usually with aviation headsets, the audio is adequate as is the mic, but they don't need to be phenomenal, because you're usually just talking to ATC, other aircraft, and people within your own plane. The big things that pilots look for are noise canceling (planes are loud, don't want to loose your hearing), weight (long flights with a heavy headset are the WORST), comfort (ex. you don't want something that pinches or puts too much pressure), and audio quality is second to all that. So when you look at aviation headsets, you're looking at how much ambient noise can they dampen without actually blocking out (that way you can hear abnormalities in your engine if they happen), how light are they, and how comfortable are they. I'd be interested to see this video with something like a Bose A20 or a Lightspeed Zulu, two of the most popular top tier headsets used by pilots.

aviation headsets typically only have audio output to the actual aircraft and not out the auxiliary cord.

Well, I watched this hoping that you would tell us what the mic on that thing is like. I was thinking of using one of these because the mics tend to be really nice for talking. Does it sound like your average gaming mic or does it sound like a radio? The nonexistent bass is understandable. These are meant for giving you extreme vocal clarity from the typically bad quality radio transmissions that will be carrying voice signals.

The reason for the low/bass tone to be nonexistent is because there would be conflict with the bass tone of Engine noise, wind buffeting noise commonly associated with flying a plane (or riding a motorcycle). Once you remove the Bass from any audio in a plane or on a motorcycle (Like from the stereo on a Harley), you then are able to hear Clearly. Very Cool idea of immersion into a flight sim. Good Video!

I have used my Peltor helicopter/ground mechanic headset since 1995 for gaming and Music. To able to use them with my computer I converted them from mono to stereo sound, then i changed the earphones from stock to HTS 230 for better sound quality, and last i made an Y-split cable so I could connect them to my pc.

Real pilot here. That headset is pretty low end comparing to what most pilots use. I actually own a pair of the cheaper David Clarke headsets that has an all steel headband (yours looks like plastic) with a larger cloth pad which is probably softer and doesn't get warm, individual volume for the left and right side, gel ear-pads that also don't get hot and apply pressure evenly, and a flexible mic boom (the mechanical ones get really annoying, especially if they're old. My headset costed $300, which is reasonable for a basic but high-quality headset. It's made to block out noise, allow the pilot to communicate via the radio and intercom (not play music or explosions), and last forever while being comfortable to wear.
You will find many pilots that have more money than me (like the ones that own their own planes) have headsets from brands like Bose and Lightspeed that often cost in excess of $1000. Those headsets will have more features, most notably noise-cancelation.
