  • This video starts by teaching what a Hebrew choke is and how it is performed. This is followed by examples of possible recovery plans from failed attempts. Then ends with examples of successful chokes.

    Erik Paulson was teaching this around 1998 and it was taught by Fujiwara and the Malenkos in Florida before that. This is CATCH WRESTLING and I've been doing these for almost 30 years.

      I learnt this S or Z mount in Japan fighting in Shooto in 1993. The shooto hybrid catch style was very unique at that time because bjj had not been exposed there yet. I taught this on a video at Boxing Works as a new mount to expose to the bjj world and got laughed at and chastisized. I created an entire game series out of it. Including the rolling pin choke or the steam roller choke like this one.

      Im really glad that people are using this now also the low body attacks from shooto, the short choke from the Scottish judo Team and the Mothers milk aka mother smother chest as·phyx·i·a·tion or neck crank that came to me originally from Uncle Gene Labell in 1996. *you have to give respect and homage to where it came from. I never have said that i invented these. I traveled and trained hard to learn from the multiple high sources of teachers to learn just one thing thatvi could add to my game. I put in my time and put it on the line. Always pay Homage. *special honor or respect shown publicly*

    I am at a school where more than half of the members on the mat are black belts (old well known school) and so I live in that position. After a while it's not an issue, unless you have tight shoulders, and you get accustomed to being there. It's not new but is a great way to weaken your opponent for the kill.

    Ha, I've been doing this exact move for years. We call it the coffin. About 60 percent tap on the choke and pressure. BTW, never fall back for arm bar that way you go back to mount if you go for it and miss it

  • @vitorcunha5249
    @vitorcunha5249 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    The first technique is actually slitelly different than the other ones, because Gordon Ryan only traps one arm and therefore places his forearm against the opponont's neck. I guess that would put even more pressure as oppose to just applying pressure from the S mount while trapping both arms.

    • @r3o
      @r3o หลายเดือนก่อน

      The one arm variation is informally referred to as "mothers milk" where you essentially smother bottom guy into an extremely uncomfortable dilemma to turn one way to give a head arm choke, or turn the other way to back take. Danaher does a nice demo with Bernardo you can look up.
      If bottom guy allows the option to take both underhooks into s mount as demonstrated by Meregali, I am taking that option every time over just one.

    You're missing a key component... the underhook on the side where the knee slide forward has to collect the head with the other arm supporting the grip. You'll notice that the times where they transitioned to the arm bar was when the head began to slip.

    • @backyardfarmer6090
