Totally agree. Some of my favourite fights have JRod in them. One is the one against Mica Galvao and this is now for sure one of my favorurite. Great match.

Even when loosing he always give us great matches, like the one against Mica with those insane armbar scapes. Dalpra also showed amazing jiu jitsu skills but Jay is so difficult to submit. Great to see matches like this one!

Tainan dalpra The best jiu jitsu that my eyes have ever seen
Basically went as expected. Tainan was always gonna win but wouldn’t be able to submit jay. And jay would get out of every submission cause he’s slippery as hell but doesn’t have any submission of his own.
It’s like jay resorts to his default setting during competition which happens to be his wrestling.
Two great competitors! I wish in bjj you had to defend the space like in wrestling. If the person playing top could drag you by your leg off the mat and they received a point or judges favor it’d completely change the bottom position.

To be fair he’s a purple belt going against world class black belts that have been winning worlds longer than JRod has been doing Jiu jitsu
@@aspenbutler4414exactly, he could only except matches against purple belts like on wno undercards and dominate them but he is fighting guys like, dalpra and mica.
According to a lot of experts including Jon Danaher and Firas Zahabi Tainan should have been crushed by a NoGi only guys. Because he mainly trained Gi. I want to see one of these NoGo only champs in a top leven Gi competition.
tainans jiu jitsu is still leagues ahead of jrod, thats what makes the difference. And Gi translates to no gi was better than the reverse

The problem is that both Mendes brothers know very little wrestling, and Gui is the main instructor in the academy. It's hard to teach something you are not very proficient in.

Playing almost the entire match from a seated guard position is the absolute worst. This strategy makes for static matches where nothing actually happens. The rules need to be adjusted and refs must stand players up after no more than a minute. The butt scoot approach is the ultimate in passive-aggressive no-heart style grappling. Boooo 👎🏼

Jay Rod will run circles around a lot of black belts, no shame in having trouble to deal with him.
These guys are grapplers. Jay may not have the best jiu jitsu but he is a good wrestler and if this is going to be the way of measuring Mica Galvao should also be ashamed about not finishing Jay... but we all know how great is Mica as a grappler, one of the best in the world on his weight cathegory. Jay Rod is very difficult to submit.
Also you have to consider Tainan started recently at nogi so he has not much experience.
When nobody gets submitted I cringe when they call a winner. Nobody wins if nobody is submitted idc
