    Awesome video- love how you have created a simple (but not simplistic) structure in which to hang the overall narrative on!

    Please sir as your knowledge greatly outweighs my own. I am nerd yes does the gravemind in halo truly speak in trochaic heptameter?

    • @DrAidan
      @DrAidan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know nothing about Halo but I can tell you that heptameter means there are seven metric feet in every line and that each foot contains a trochee (pronounced trow-key). You can find more about trochees in my video "Iambic Pentameter - Variations" - here is a link: th-cam.com/video/HpQeV_ip0G8/w-d-xo.html
      A trochee is made up of two syllables where there is more stress on the first syllable and less on the second. This creates a "TUM-ti" rhythm. You can hear the rhythm in these lines:
      BY the / SHORES of /GITche GUmee,
      BY the / SHIN-ing /BIG-Sea-WA-ter,
      This is written in trochaic tetrameter (four feet per line) but you can hear the rhythm.
      And here is a line written in trochaic octameter (eight feet per line)
      ONCE up-ON a MIDnight DREAR-y, WHILE I PONdered WEAK and WEAR-y,
      So, if the Gravemind sounds anything like that then the answer is YES!
      Hope that's useful.
