Right you are Jeremy, clockmakers like yourself always look inside to see what we are really getting into. My video's on ebay speak to the brand new repair persons who only see the outside as their first experience. Its a gradual process to get them to remove the movement and to build the courage to split the plates and begin learning the real workings of a movement. After a couple movements under their belts, they start focusing on Brands and similarities of different manufacturers.
FYI, I am a 3rd generation clock repairman with nearly 30 years experience. Daneker made only the grandfather clock cabient and not the mechanism. The mechanisim was manufactured by Urgos in the 1960's or early 1970's and is a UW03. Even today, but especially years ago, if you went to a clock mechanism manufacturer like Hermle, Urgos, Kieninger, etc, and purchased enough mechanisms they would stamp your name on the mechanism backplate.
Al, Great video. Thanks I have an URGOS 03003B movement which is missing the hour strike mechanism. When searching for a donor movement, is there any way to know what range of model numbers would have the correct parts? I see used 03XXX movements on eBay, but don't know if it requires an exact match or perhaps only match of the first three, four, or five digits. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks...Bill
I repair all original parts and haven't needed to study cross referencing of parts compatibility. Mark Butterworth may have the information your looking for. Phone: 1-563-263-6759 Al Takatsch Jefferson ClockWorks
