I’d like to add some perspective for everyone arguing about the scoop vs rear locker debate. I bought the 2019 Sport 4x4 about 4 months ago. Since then I have used the truck in its stock form with highway tires about 80% on road and 20% off road. On road in my opinion, the sport drives MUCH better than the off-road. I test drove about four off roads, including a 4 runner, and felt the Sport handled much better, especially when turning. As far as off road, I have gone on several mild to medium trails, and on sand dunes, and the Sport handled it all easily with the stock Toyo A30 tires on just 4 High. I haven’t even needed 4 Low yet. As far as extreme rock crawling where you would need a locker, I will never do any of it. This is a 40k truck and I can’t afford to scratch, dent and damage it. I’m not going to purposely go on advanced trails that required sliders and lockers, and dent and damage my truck. My truck has been primarily used to take me far into the desert to find good, safe spots to go shooting, and it has done an excellent job at it, and I don’t have any scratches or dents. My truck still looks brand new. So, don’t be fooled by these off road snobs who gloat that they have a locker which they will probably NEVER use, except for maybe just to test it out. Most of them use their lockers wrong anyways, when just good off road driving , excellent all terrain tires, airing down , or just knowing how to use braking and moderate throttle would have worked fine.
William Alex Page can you please give me the specs on the wheels. I know they are Cali Offroad busted. But 22x what with what offset and how much trimming was required to prevent rubbing?
I had 33's on my 2016 tacoma and the tires would rub , so i had to adjust my remote reservoir up to 7 1/2" so it wouldn't rub. This truck has 35's and the same shocks that i used, does the tire rub when you turn it all the way being that it is 35" ?
Check out custom offsets website ...they have details of every setup as far as rubbing etc.... very cool website with good info and pictures of peoples trucks
Hood-scoops go on muscle-cars, and even then unless you have a giant big-block that _needs_ extra air, they're still mostly for looks. Snorkels go on 4-wheel-drive pick-up trucks. Unless you enjoy _scooping_ up water into your air intake, or just intend to leave it as a show truck. I guess you could avoid deep water lol...
When haters see the name Toyota, Import comes to their minds, when in fact The only Toyota factory that still makes the Tacoma in the USA is located in San Antonio, Texas. However, two Toyota factories in Mexico produce the Toyota Tacoma, including the Tijuana factory in Baja California and another factory in Guanajuato.
Nice job getting rid of that hideous TRD Sport chrome grill and installing the black one from the SR model. This truck is one sweet looking rig! Add the 6 speed manual and where do I sign :)
yz125ryder toyota is very successful at putting these tacoma sports on display... In fact these are the ones they have in the shops that are all decked out... Im with you tho, I went with the off-road... No way im choosing a hood scoop over rear lockers and crawl control... and the was more expensive! Smh

m torres ive never used it once but my point is that if you are gona pay you might as we pay for something thats worth it... I see your point tho... When i went to Toyota to shop they were selling the Sports at a higher price than the off road an had it loaded with a bunch of crap that i didnt want like mud flaps, sport hood, sunroof, dual air, side radar detection, decals an only 2 wheel drive... Id rather have none of that, 4 wheel drive (which ive never really used either) and a rear locker at a cheaper price... Id rather have that stuff and dont need it than be stuck in the mud with a sunroof and hood scoop...
@@xeroblastx To many people that like the scoop, painted fender flares and bumper, stiffer suspension, and Sport rims it’s well worth it. Most of what’s on a car is just for looks like the paint job, grill, rims etc. and I don’t think anybody wants an ugly vehicle. As far as getting out of mud , you don’t really need a locker. There are tons of tricks you can do to get out in 4 low, and good tires, aired down are more important. Lockers are more for serious rock crawling where your tires are frequently off the ground. I think you should just go out with a friend and get stuck on purpose. m torres to be honest had the Sport not been so inflated in price and the salesman talked it up like you i probably wouldve gone with the Sport lol... but it was ridiculous the difference in price... i added a 3 inch lift, Fuel rims and new tires an still came out ahead...
There's really no such thing as a foreign truck considering major companies like FCA , which is a terrible company by the way, are owned by foreign companies, and the fact that man American companies have their factories in other countries. I'll also add that after suffering through 6 months of hell with FCA on a terrible Dodge Charger , I now just buy what ever is most reliable and could care less where a car is manufactured.

I would say that having the 6" lift done the sub frame was butchered.

The rims are too big & the low profile tires look too small which really makes the truck look goofy..
I like the Tacoma but I don't like the hood scoop, I think the hood scoop makes it look more Chevy.
