Strangely enough, there was a story on Carter's theft and later sale of some parts of artifacts in France, about the same time this video was published. Based on Carter's photos, parts of Tut's necklace ended up getting sold. I don't recall the museums names, but do remember there are now parts in two mid-west states, (KS-MO, general area). Beads from the necklace and ... I forget. So... maybe Carter?
It's my understanding that it broken into sometime shortly after sealed, but not greatly disturbed. I have seen this on several videos recently, but don't remember which channels I saw it.

Plus, the entire tomb area was covered with the flood and resulting silting of the area that kept its location a mystery for thousands of years. Bribing guards and officials on the way out after the burial would be something always in the realm of possibility. Corrupt religious officials aren't a new thing. That could be confused with a "break-in with no evidence". Did they put forth any evidence? Photos and receipts got Carter.
