- Bessie Leavell Palmer tells the story of the Gospel Descendents in the box set, and one of their songs is included on the CDs and LPs. The Louisville Gospel Choral Union Community Choir will be performing a Gospel Descendents song at the concert on September 28.
Thank you to Bishop Butler's son Lamont Butler, who preserved the original 2" quadruplex videotape reel for over 40 years before partnering with the Louisville Story Program to digitize it.

Ahhh…we had the chance to share programs with them several times and it was always inspirational.
I love this kind of Gospel music!!!!!
It’s the Afro’s for me !
That part 😮
Them fros killing!!
The afro with a split and the glasses! Classic Black soul power look of the early 70's the surfaced because the civil rights movement had ended and signs were needed that Black people were strong and united.
if this choir has nothing else they definitely have black power.
Memories of Choir days, when people sang. You felt their testimonies.
Wow I love that!!! That is definitely Good Gospel singing. ❤
The video quality is outstanding! 👍🏾
This song is a classic by Issac Douglas and the NewYork Community, I also love this choir approach with the song.
I really miss the 1970s!
😊 amen church was church back then 🙏 🙌
Bring the choirs back
I wonder if many of them in the choir are still living and what are they doing now they sounded so good, very uplifting. 1970s was about God's business singing to the glory of him.
This is the Louisville Gospel descendants on lead the great late Henrietta Ruffin I know, sister Bessie Palmer one of the ladies standing next to the guy with the big Afro. She still alive and still singing with the Louisville gospel chorale union a chapter from the Thomas Dorsey choir and chorus convention.
1970's❤❤❤❤Classic gospel
Hallelujah, JESUS!!! Sing, Y'all.
This had to be the 70s. Great music by the Choir, though. Great times!
Yes I like that yes yes
Amen!
Rev R L White of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church brought me here. Notice, just the 🎹 and the Annointed Voices of Zion and the Holy Ghost. This is deliverance Singin'
Hi there. I'm the organist for the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church. We all miss Dr White. I've been there for 26 years. Thank you for your beautiful coming. We got it from the late Reverend James Cleveland. James did it back in 70 or 71 with the Southern California community choir that he started. Then Dr White copied it and did it around 75 or so. Isaac Douglas followed after Dr White sometime around the same time. Isaac Douglas didn't really get it from us. He got it from James also. But thank you for your beautiful comment.
