Mega Pidgeot doesn't need to worry about Hurricane and Heat Wave accuracy, as it has No Guard. It's just weak to rocks without being able to use boots (or any item for that matter) and doesn't hit that hard, especially since it lacks reliable normal STAB. Plus being unable to dodge stone edge isn't doing it any favors. Edit : Should've said this first, but great vid !
More people should try and play Digimon Cyber Sleuth. It has so much the fanbase has been asking for: -Everyone Has a Mega Evolution -Multiple Digimon have Fusions -Actual Story mode with a good rival -Following Pokemon (Digimon) -Most Pokemon have an exclusive move that is unique to them with a special animation
I liked the game when I played it, even did some min maxing on my favorite digimons, but the game itself is uh; cant say it has much lasting impact, and the story mode was pretty forgettable too. I think my main issue with digimon games is that there is very little consistency between them. Like one game is turn based rpg and is enjoyable while the other is a fighting game and another is arena rpg but you have to manage your digimon like a real life pet, including feeding and taking them out. It seems like all their doing is expierimenting and its hard to get into multiple games series if you dont like a certain core idea. Pokemon has one core formula and their expieriments are far less impactful. Oh yea, and a majority of digimon games are japanese only, although a few have gotten localizations. Ftr, the games ive played are Digimon Cyber Sleuth and Digimon Re:Digitize (PSP, English Patch)
imo, i dont think megas were bad in of themselves, just poorly executed. some megas were unnecessary, some were absolutely ridiculous, and some were weak or even detrimental to the user (...garchomp is an obvious one on that end). maybe if megas were reworked, they could be a lot better, but this is the world we live in so...
6:17 Oh hey! Now I enjoyed using Fearow Because of how fast it is but yes I get it It's not really that strong of a pokémon, but staraptor is actually kind of a badass. Has a lot of powerful moves.
2:16 Wait a minute. Does it really matter that it has a four times weakness to ice though? As far as I know ice type pokémon generally kind of suck and there aren't really that many good ice type moves.
5:35 would heat proof have been a good ability for Abomasnow. To be honest I've never really liked that pokémon because of the grass ice typing. It has so many weaknesses.
Honest Content pokémon video jumpscare ! Always nice to see great content creators try out variety content, adds variety to my feed and helps to feel safe from the algorithm in case one kind of content falls off.
I might be making this up but I swear a fan game out there helps abomasnow out with it having snow warning before mega evolution like normal but after it gets slush rush helping with its speed which would could have been interesting to see in competitive with its poor typing still hurting it
It's really cool you're branching out and doing other game content. I really love this channel, and Comp Pokemon and Smash are some of my most played games.
The lower tier megas tended to be my favorites, partially because people on the Showdown ladder never knew what they actually did, which made cheesing wins pretty easy sometimes. My favorite from this video had to be Mega Camerupt in gen 7 OU because of how broken Magearna was, and Mega Camerupt had a niche of being the one of the only Pokemon in the game that could 1v1 every major Magearna set. Even though it didn't fit onto most teams, it was a good fit for when you needed extra help against Magearna and other steel-types when you didn't already have a mega. I also liked regular Camerupt in gen 3, it could work as a niche Zapdos counter, since being part-fire made it not weak to HP Grass and HP Ice. Though despite what both Camerupts had to offer, their massive weaknesses prevented them from being anything other than niche.
Still wish they were able to do a Mega Milotic. My favourite Pokémon given a cool extra design and made even stronger than it already is would have been just epic!
Mega evolution was certainly very cool looking but seriously disrupted competitive play. The Pokémon that received mega evolutions were highly questionable in my opinion including Tyranitar, Garchomp, Mewtwo, Salamance, and Rayquaza. All of them are already OU or above. Mega evolution also caused some other Pokémon to become extremely over centralizing (kangaskhan and mawile).
Regarding Mega Sceptile it's already weak to Ice and unlikely to live those attacks in its base form anyway so gaining a x4 Ice weakness isn't as big a deal-breaker as you might think. As for Lightning Rod turning a resist into an immunity+1 is actually pretty good and let's it shut down Electrics who rely on Electric stab completely. While it's certainly not the best mega out there I think you downplay its improvements too much.
This is the typa content that I get really depressed about because Pokémon is a game that does hold the same values as the show there r no weak Pokémon just weak trainers. Things like gravity, simple beam, power split & gaurd split evolite can make any Pokémon viable in theyre own regard I’ve found ways u could make even just base delibird viable that’s where I just see a lot of people use stats and typings as a way to determine what Pokémon was good to me a good Pokémon is just the ones u see yourself using not what you lost to on showdown I gave up on competitive Pokémon a while back not because the competitive scene is a joke because they don’t ban legendaries or the challenge of online but purely because the devs dropped the ball so hard in including everything gen 7 had gen 8 kinda got a few things right giving more things like stored power and hex to other moms and all that but man do I just miss mega evolutions I will defs make a hack one day to retain that childhood love I have for the series but I hope going forward one day we can have national Dex up to gen 8 & megas back cuz the game does not feel the same without them I hate gigantamax & Tera forming Z moves where really great and I miss them too but not as much as megas I strictly just kinda play gen 7 n have some great street legal teams that I’ve pushed it to it’s limits and some really unique fun hackmons teams with friends cuz man Pokémon is a very important franchise to me but I hope going forward u might see it through that lense not many do but I promise u this game does have ways u can make anything work
I thought this vid would be how badly executed pokemon made megas, and how most of the mons who got them didnt need them in the first place Wont go too much into it, but as a long time pokemon fan, Megas are easily the worst gimmick, due to many factors such as: - Can only use like 5 in a playthrough, meaning most are only post game, which has no major battles, or competitively, something most dont even wanna do - Again, very few who needed it (Audino, Beedrill, Abomasnow) actually got it, so they ended up horrible and outclassed by everyone else - Why did legendaries get it? Literally no reason to, yet here we are giving Raquayza a mega - and finally, every other gimmick so far, every single mon can use. No need to be forced to have a mon who could mega, anyone can have the gimmick, so its much less limiting
Imo, Mega's need to be completely reworked. Get rid of the adding of 100 base stat total to them and make the big power boost be in the stat distribution. Instead of just a Better version of the Pokémon, make it more of an optional mode that they could use over their original sets. Keep the type changes, abilities and designs of course, but make them strong because of their distribution of stats being different. Either that or just only give the mon who needed a mega the 100 bst increase while leaving stuff like Mega Gengar, Rayquaza, Kangaskan, with their original bst except for them being rearranged to be more interesting and fit their new forms. Although the true best way to balance them is to give EVERYONE a mega. If everyone's super... No one will be.

That's actually a good point.
Imagine Mega Evolving only to become the only rock-weak pokemon that can never dodge Stone Edge
yea, def needed some sort of boosting move at least, like Nasty Plot.

“Mega pighhot”
"Nothing to scoff at" means that it's not to be underestimated. You were using it the opposite way.
Omg thank you for commenting this, it was driving me nuts
Correct usage of “nothing to scoff at” will forever be a mystery to this man.
My B lol! I didn't catch that, apologies for that.
The fact that there are a lot of megas competing in the same tier as unevolved pokemon (and still losing in some cases) is wild to me
Shoutouts ti Mega Gyrados who didn't have crunch when it first came out
There should be 2 A's in Gyarados! And it's to, not ti!

ice is a very common offensive type. ice type pokemon being bad isnt really true, theyre just bad defensively

Mega Camerupt has access to Sheer Force actually. Normal Camerupt has Magma Armor.
